Guide: How to generate Gen V Pokémon in PokéGen

Hmmm so I'm wondering something...

If I create a Pokemon that's supposedly been caught in Black/White but it has no gender, only one ability (besides hidden) and isn't shiny (Mewtwo for example) then would the Gen IV PID still work in Gen V?

Pokemon hatched from eggs -have to be- in a pokeball? No dive ball, net, ball, etc?

Also, can Tepig/Snivy/Oshawott be shiny? I tried doing that and it wont connect.

And can the starters be shiny if it's hatched from egg?

Yes, hatched pokemon MUST be in Pokeballs ONLY.

Tepig/Snivy/Oshawott CAN be shiny.

Any pokemon that can be hatched CAN be shiny.

Regarding moves/attacks:

I found it weird that I could use my Volcarona (61) that knows Fiery Dance (100) online. So I proceeded to test a few combinations out listed below (all were shiny...that shouldnt change anything though...). They had other filler moves, like the Pledges moves and TMs, and level up moves(Rollout, Assurance, etc). But I was just testing the highest level moves (Flare Blitz, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm) mostly. Did not try with Egg moves. Met conditions were as if I got them from Prof Juniper.

Set1

a) I also tried it with the Emboar(Flare Blitz), Samurott(Hydro Pump), Serperior(Leaf Storm). The pokemons were lvl40. The earliest they can learn those moves were lvl43.

ALLOWED

b) Same pokes, same moves, same PID. Levels changed from 40 to 10

NOT ALLOWED

c) Same same same. Level 29

NOT ALLOWED

d) Same. Level 30

NOT ALLOWED

e) Same. Level 39

ALLOWED

Set2

a) Tepid, Oshawott, Snivy. Level 10. Same moves (Flare Blitz, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm). Removed HyperBeam

ALLOWED

b) Same poke, moves PID. Level 43

ALLOWED

Set3

a) Pignite, Dewott, Servine. Level 30. Same moves (Flare Blitz, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm).

ALLOWED

b) Same pokes, moves, PID. Level 20.

ALLOWED

c) Level 19

ALLOWED

Set4

a) Pignite, Dewott, Servine. Level 15. Same moves (Flare Blitz, Hydro Pump, Leaf Storm).

NOT ALLOWED

b) Same pokes, moves, PID. Level 30. (To confirm PID legality.)

ALLOWED

Conclusion:

-The 1st stage (Tepid, Oshawott, Snivy) can learn moves higher than their current level if they're lvl 10 (or below that)

-The 2nd stage (Pignite, Dewott, Servine) can learn moves higher than their current level if they're lvl 19 (probably 17 because that's when they evolved).

-The 3rd stage (Emboar, Samurott, Serperior) can learn moves higher than their current level if they're lvl39 (probably 36 because that's when they evolved).

-This is information is not -that- useful because Nintendo WiFi brings the levels to 50 or 100. O_O

You should have obtained a string of eight characters, matching the format described above. Now, copy only the seventh and the eighth character in your string (the YY in the format, which determines Gender), and paste it in the ‘Decimal’ box.

Just thought I'd point out that there seems to be an error here. This should be the Hex box shouldn't it? I'm sure most people can work it out but yeah, I figured I should point it out.

Edit: Also, in the "shiny" section, shouldn't the first ">" be a "<"?

number > 8, the Pokémon is not Shiny. If it’s a number >= 8

Thanks loads for the guide! :D I was stressing over the encounter type like crazy. I even thought that Pokégen somehow messes up my whole box :3 Cuz my Soul Silver had different encounter types (grass, cave, etc)

But I got something to ask... Like when you make a (Pokétransfer) Pokémon..... Should the PID follow the rules of the previous Gen (nature included)? :/ Cuz since it was "transferred" shouldn't it keep the 4th Gen PID?

PID doesn't change, the nature gets stored in 0x41 upon transferring.

Basically the game stops looking at the PID to calculate nature, it's stored in a simpler location.

I have been using ir-gts for about a week now ( awesome program) by typing the file path as instructed.

Is there any way to copy paste the file to ir-gts or just drag it? It was mentioned that it can be but why doesn't it work for me?

I use windows vista if that matters

hello

i follow the shiny editing part

a) The PID’s first half (AAAX); -6850

b) The PID’s second half (AAYY); -11A9

c) The Trainer’s ID; -6E00

d) The Trainer’s SID. -E7B1

i got this

1.0110 1000 0101 0000

2.0001 0001 1010 1001

3.0110 1110 0000 0000

4.1110 0111 1011 0001

5.1110 0000 0100 1000

and copy the 5th string pasted to Decimal/Hexadecimal/Binary Converter

and i got this 57416 in decimal ..and i stuck here..

can i ask something i was a bit comfused to this

"If the result is a number > 8, the Pokémon is not Shiny. If it’s a number >= 8, the Pokémon is Shiny.

Now we have to edit the first two rows of the chart, in order to make that number become a number between 0 and 8."

the legal step PID your make is legal in random wifi ..i did make my pokemon all legal ..thanks..but i also badly want my pokemon

look shiny..hehe..

Why is your 4th column an 0 in the 5th row? I can only see one 1.

Anyways I got stuck around that part too. Does it not work if the Trainer ID and SID are the same?

Mine just ended up always being 0000 0000 0000 0000 : /

Here are my first 4 rows:

1010 0001 1000 0110

0110 0011 1001 0110

0100 0101 0111 1011

0100 0101 0111 1011

Now if I'm doing it right I add the number of 1s in each column and if they're odd I put a 1 in the 5th row and if they're even I put an 0 and I end up with this...

1010 0001 1000 0110

0110 0011 1001 0110

0100 0101 0111 1011

0100 0101 0111 1011

1100 0010 0001 0000

Is that right?

Now for the next bit am I including the 5th row in the addition? I assume so otherwise it'd just be the same for every row so I do the same again and get this...

1010 0001 1000 0110

0110 0011 1001 0110

0100 0101 0111 1011

0100 0101 0111 1011

1100 0010 0001 0000

0000 0000 0000 0000

I must be doing something wrong here, that or I can't use the same number for Trainer ID and SID (although that doesn't make much sense to me).

I'd really appreciate some help as to what I'm missing, thanks.

I have a quick question about Dream World Pokemon. I understand how to get the Dream World ability on my Pokemon, but what do I set for their location? I don't plan on making any yet (not until the Dream World is actually open), but I'll need to know what to put for the location if I ever do make one. Do I use Pokemon DW? I assumed the DW stood for Dream World, but wasn't sure if that's what should actually go there.

I have a question regarding of IVs... I have found that any wild pokemon with the IV's changed or generated are considered to be hacks (However I used pokesav to change IVs). My question is... Does modifying the IVs of a wild pokemon make it illegal? Is there a way to modify its IVs and still pass the filter in Wi-Fi battles?

Changing IVs does not change legality, or make it illegitimate.

Using PokeSav to regenerate PIDs with those IVs is the incorrect way of going about it.

Would you like a video tutorial on how to solve your problem? I will be more then happy to help you. It is kind of hard to explain it word to word... Just tell me the TID & the PID

Edit 1:

So sorry for double posting. I meant to edit my 1st post =/

try this. Leave the PID blank and then save. Pokegen fills in the appropriate PID for you other then that I dont see what the problem could be.

That's how I initially made the PKM file. The PID there is the one pokegen created upon saving. I'll try your suggestion and edit this comment with results. Thanks

EDIT: Still saying there is a problem with the pokemon
