Hi! For a little while now I have been trying to move a Pokemon Yellow emulator save from EmulatorGames.com (Specifically this: https://www.emulatorgames.net/roms/gameboy-color/pokemon-yellow-version/) And moving to the VC Pokemon yellow game on a new 3ds LL. So far I have tried to turn the original save (A .save file) into a .sav and .data. I first tried these two websites, Crystal Clear Injector and Save File Converter. Which did give me the formats of this save, but when putting them into checkpoint, it failed. I then realized that the files where slightly off 32768 bytes, so I tried to convert them by simply renaming them, which gave me the correct size but still fails to work (As in, the game says the save is corrupted). But when I use PKHex on the files, they work and I am able to see my progress. I have looked almost everywhere and still can't find a solution, any help would be very appreciated! :)

I got to ask for a dumb lil thing if it isn't already in it. The ability to change the weather through moves. Example: hail makes it snow, sunny day makes it clear. Heck, add some overworld use for it as well. -
Try it and see.

Alright, I dumped the rom using the GBA Backup tool, it worked, and using the Bootleg GBA extractor I got the 2 save files out. Here is the save file dumped by the same program, and a screenshot of the memory refrences of the save file locations! Ill also attach the 2 that I managed to rip using the extractor tool. TLDR, I dumped the rom using the GBA Backup Tool, I selected the save file to inject and injected it, however, I do not know how to/if I need to export the rom file. Moreover, I don't know how to put the rom back on my GBA cart using the GBA Backup Tool. Any advice? I've been searching around and I can't seem to find a concrete answer to this given how specific it is. If I have a Crystal ROM (GBC) save file and I use PkHeX to drag Pokémon from it into a Ultra Sun save file from a legit cart extracted using Checkpoint, will PkHeX mimic the official transfer method (which is to say will the game treat it as if I used a Virtual Console Crystal to transfer it into Bank through Transporter and then moved it from Bank into Ultra Sun)? Put another way, is there any difference between Pokémon from Crystal ROM -> PkHeX -> Ultra Sun save file from Checkpoint -> inject into Ultra Sun cartridge Pokémon from Crystal VC -> Poké Transporter -> Pokémon Bank -> Ultra Sun This includes any data conversion (for example, assigning gender using the Attack IV, setting three IVs to max, assigning the Hidden Ability, etc.) and the origin mark. Thanks in advance.

Jazakallah brother. You are such a nice person. I just actually restored my save file using pksm. Idk how it worked but pksm was able to load the save file and there was an icon in the bottom left corner of the bottom screen(just opposite to save) and when I touched it, it loaded the game from the last time I saved the game. And then the game started working normally afterwards. Hope this would help anyone else experience this very issue. Pksm turned out to be a life saver. But this doesn't deny the fact that what you did was beyond commendable. Hope I could repay you with something. Anyway, keep up the good work. TL;DR: Thanks a lot @Kaphotics. There's another way to restore your save, which is using Pksm.

I did try backing up the save the non-bootleg way, if you will. The result was that it had an incompatible file type. (Shows up as PKHeX can't read binary) As for the other idea, whenever I try to dump the gbabf throws an error regarding not being able to open the file. I'll try again and if my findings change, I'll post them. I'll also grab a save from idea 1 as well for you.

Manual checks only at this time, not planned to figure out how to automatically verify.

I'm trying to read the party data of some secret base trainers to see information such as their pokemon's IVs, EVs, nature, PID, Contest stats, Ribbons, etc. I don't know if the game holds all of that when you mix records, but is there someone or a program out there that can find and show all this information? I can't read code in an emulator to know what I'm looking for.

Recently found out that the Misty Mark can actually be obtained in SV but it's only in very specific spots as mist isn't a proper weather normally. Have managed to get a handful of marked pokemon with the mark, but tried to load one up in PkHex and saw it was marked as illegal in both the public build and the dev build. So was just wondering if there's any chance that support for the mark would be added eventually, or if it'd be left as is since it requires a set up in-game to even have a chance of getting it.

Hiya, was wondering if checkpoint can back up my r4 SDHC cart saves the usual way? I have a lot of games on there but I just wanted to back up one game’s saves, but it seems to have just backed up everything? or is this a moot question? Do I just have to insert R4’s SD card into a PC for backups? Thank you everyone for reading!

okay now i have an actual question to ask that isnt routed in me being fundamentally stupid is this message telling me to NOT use layeredfs to get the CROs and CRR working on my 3ds otherwise it'll fail the RSA check? do i need to install smth else on my 3ds to get these files to work properly? or should i not bother and stfu -

so i tried that, i put both the exefs and romfs folders inside luma/titles/0004000000164800 (i switched to editing pokemon sun bc it would be easier) and whenever i enabled game patching with the latest version of layeredfs and tried to load pokemon sun, both of the games screens would turn grey after the game took abt a year to load. not exactly sure why that happened, apparently it was an arm11 core (1) exception prefetch abort (svcBreak) but nowhere online seems to be having the same issue as me im able to restore the game back to normal if i put the unmodified romfs and exefs (and everything else) into luma/titles/0004000000164800 and repatch pokemon sun so i know its just an issue with those files, but im too stupid to know what that issue is i can send a photo of the arm 11 exception error message if need be obviously edit: i didnt realise im meant to rebuild the romfs and exefs in pk3ds holy fish i need shot in the forehead no wonder that never worked before, ill try the rebuilt romfs and exefs to see if they work instead, my bad for being such a moron -
