  1. I am in the process of making a rom that allows the user to play as "Hugh" (Rival). The rival in the rom is the Male Hero. I have managed to make the walking overworld sprites to work for both characters as well as the back sprite for "Hugh" (Player). When I attempted to change the front In-Battle sprite for the player all I got was some sort of staticy mess, See below. Can anyone help me? (Bare in mind I have only started editing roms today)

As written wish there was written "Gym Leader", while as an image I would like to Ciprian and possible?   4. I haven't been able to find any programs for editing items. Are there any available? Or do I have to use hex? I just want to make some simple item changes like increasing something from a 10% effect to 15%.
  5. Can anyone give me an in depth place to find and how to export the image? I found the sprite for the overworld trainer and have edited that and still in progress. Thanks if you can help me find the back sprite and the mugshot. I'm using Black ENG if that makes a difference.

I have looked around a bit about how to "create" new Trainers with seperate ID's using the empty spaces at the end of the narc, I have also tried filling some of the empty slots like file 620 and can get the trainer class and pokemon to copy correctly however It keeps " - 620" as the Trainer Name and when I attempt to change it I get: Unhandeled exception. Is there a way to simply add more trainers on past the 813, and to change the name am I going to have to go into a/0/0/2 and search for " "? in order to give the blanks an actual name. Edit: Did a search through all of the a/0/0/2 files using notepad++ and Trainer Class names are in there but not the Actual Names. Anyone know the narc I need?

  9. Hi, I am planning on editing parts of Pokemon White to make the game a bit more difficult. However, one of the things I wanted to do was to change the pokeon you recieve as starters and the levels at which you recieve them. I was just wondering if there were any programs out there already that are capable of doing this. I have looked and can't seem to find any for Black or White. Thanks.

Heya folks, I've got an ambitious project - a double battle against both dragon leaders - in mind, and this brings up several queries: 1- According to this thread, people have found the Narc locations for NPC sprites and in-battle sprites, but is there any way to actually edit them? I was imagining a shot of Iris and Drayden standing side by side before you fight them. Putting the two sprites next to each other in photoshop should be an easy task, but extracting the pictures is where the problem lies. 2- how about the flashy, pre-Gym-battle close up portraits? Where it shows your face and their face and a bunch of cool blurred lines? Has the Narc location for that been found? 3- Is there a known way to insert a trainer sprite into a specific location? I was imagining putting an immobile, speechless "statue" of Iris right next to Drayden. You'd need to talk to the old man to start the battle, and the little girl would just stand there in order to show that you're about to fight them both at once. If it can be done for Gen 4 with PPRE... 4- Am I correct in assuming that I can use the PPTXT text editing tool to give both trainers dialogue before the battle, and Kazo's B/W Trainer Editor to turn Drayden's fight into a double battle with 6 dragons; 3 male and 3 female? 5- Is this an overall manageable pipe dream, or am I in need of a major reality check? Cheers! Edit: Oops, just realized that this might belong in the ROM editing and help section. My apologies to the mods - could you please move it there?
  12. You know, like when they follow behind you. As of yet I have not heard of this being done before. Can you use CrystalTile2 for reinserting your custom sprite work? What's the location of this narc? Lots of possibilities based on http://projectpokemon.org/wiki/HGSS_File_System ... Also, instead of making a separate thread: is it possible to edit Pokemon names (like making the game call Forretress, "Pendra") in HGSS, even just partially?
  13. Hey there, Has anybody found the narc location or the means to modify wild pokemon that you find waiting around for you in the overworld? The catchable Zekrom/Reshiram, the lvl 70 Volcarona, the Dream World Musharna, etc. I'm only looking to change their levels; nothing else too fancy. Any clues?
  14. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and may be asking a typical question, but I promise that I did try looking around to see if my questions were asked already. I'm not very familiar with roms/emulators and how they work, but I once had a pokemon evolution program for diamond almost 2 years ago where it would evolve pokemon x to whatever I desired. I'm currently looking for a similar program for pokemon black but have been unsuccessful, thus I turn to you guys. Is there such a program where I can get pokemon from gen 1-4 into the pokemon black? If so where can I get it? I'd much appreciate a link/tutorial/etc if possible. I attempted using Desmume this time and it had these action replay cheats to get them, but it stopped working and eventually began to freeze the game.... Not sure why Thanks for any assistance.
  15. Apologies if this is in the wrong place. As some of you may see in Kazo's tools thread, I am replacing trainers/leaders/E4 members in the game with ones from the other games. Shauntal is my test subject, being replaced with Lance, of the Kanto Elite Four. Now, with that in mind, I would rather like to replace "Shauntal" with "Lance", however, the Trainer Editor does not let me do that, and I cannot find an option in the Text Editor to allow me to do that. Does anyone know where within the ROM I should look?

Black 2 and White 2 are now out in Japan, a lot of people are poking at the games in every possible way, but one thing interested me given that I'm a little tired of the lack of difficulty in Black and White - Challenge Mode! Challenge Mode gives gym leaders and the Elite Four new rosters and different movesets and generally adds a little bit of much-needed difficulty. (There's also an Assist Mode which makes the game easier, but come on, the game isn't easy enough already?!) Now, Gamefreak being Gamefreak they couldn't just add this and allow the users to rejoice, so it had to be tied to pointless timewasting and someone screaming the word FRIENDSHIP until they turned blue... so you can only access the difficulty setting (y'know, the thing which affects the difficulty of the WHOLE GAME) after you finish the game, which difficulty you can even access depends on which game you have (White 2 players get Assist Mode, Black 2 players get Challenge Mode) and you have to trade the key (via infrared, not local wireless or wi-fi) to allow someone else to unlock that feature of the game. So here's what I want to know - is it possible to edit the BW2 ROM into a distribution cart for Assist/Challenge Mode keys? I don't know anyone else who plays Pokémon (last I heard of my friend next door he'd gone to China for some reason or another) and I don't particularly want to play through the game in easy mode to send myself a Challenge Mode key so I can play through the game for real. I know there was a leaked distribution cart for the Victini event which accompanied the launch of BW, and that's the kind of thing I'm thinking of.
  17. Hey there, Project Pokemon forums! I've just started dabbling in a bit of Pokemon hacking (I'm primarily a Fire Emblem ROM hacker). I want to mod HGSS to be less...ridiculous with level progression, trainers, and Pokemon variety. All the mods around here are 493 hacks or insane difficulty, though, so I figure I'll have to make what I want myself. Anyways, to the question. I started using PPRE and editing wild pokemon just destroyed in-game events. If a character has to move, the game just stops progressing because apparently the ability to force movement for NPCs is broken by PPRE. Is there a fix to this lingering around somewhere, or another (less destructive way) to edit wild pokemon? I searched for an answer but couldn't find one, so hopefully someone here will be able to point me in the right direction!

  19. Okay i downloaded the PPRE for linux and need help installing it. I am running Crunchbang Linux and have already asked for help on Crunchbang forums and they referred me here.
  20. So, palette swaps are doable when it comes to modding B/W pokemon sprites, but I can't figure out how to mess around with the pixels for the life of me. I've used CrystalTile2 to both manually rearrange pixels and to import images, and these changes show up when I view the a/0/0/4 narc with ConsoleTool. But when I try to play the game itself, the pokemon have their same old boring sprites. Has anybody found a way around this?
  21. Is there any way to change the move contained by a TM? For example, is there a method to change TM19 Telekinesis (back) to TM19 Giga Drain? I would like to use this thread as a discussion for this. What has to be changed to make this work?
  22. I'm making progress on a Pokémon ROM hack and I have pretty much all the tools I need, apart from one - an Egg Move Editor. I have a level up move editor and a TM/HM editor, but no egg move editor is to be found. Does anybody know where I can find one, and if one hasn't yet been made, does anybody have the knowledge or resources to make one for the community?
