1. Are you talking about in-game or competitively? Truthfully, anything in-game works... at least almost anything. So your starter is Typhlosion... then you have no need for another Fire Pokemon I suppose. A set you can use is: - Flamethrower (naturally... or go Heat Wave/Fire Blast, your choice, but I prefer Flamethrower) - Sunny Day (TM11, given by a lady in the Radio Tower after you clear the Rockets out)... weakens Water moves, boosts Fire moves... and allows for... - Solarbeam (TM22 purchasable @ Goldenrod Department Store)... hurts Water Pokemon a lot, requires no charge up in the sun - Focus Blast (TM52 purchasable @ Goldenrod Department Store)... for Empoleons but still you're walled by Tentacruels... / Extrasensory (breed with Vulpix, which is only in SS)... hurts Tentacruels at least and can flinch... plus you get 30 of these! / Substitute (TM90 purchasable @ Goldenrod Game Corner for 2000 Coins) For an Eeveelution, you can try Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon/Espeon/Umbreon... but the two you should stay away from are Flareon and Umbreon. Why? 1) You already have a Fire Pokemon in Typhlosion, so no need for Flareon 2) Umbreon is defensive... unless you're playing competitively it serves no use in game Vaporeon: Teach it Surf... and it learns Aurora Beam at level 36. I'm training one right now, it is very good. If you can, get TM13 on Seafoam Islands or 10000 Coins at Goldenrod for Ice Beam. Morty's TM30 Shadow Ball can definitely help too (also purchasable for 64 BP in Battle Frontier). This one's the best Eeveelution... but for in game Espeon is better. Jolteon: Thunderbolt... and... I guess Shadow Ball? Not much options with this guy, but he's lightning fast (no pun intended) and if you can, teach him Signal Beam from Battle Frontier. Wanna try Hyper Beam? o_o Flareon: You can give it Fire Blast... Will-o-Wisp... Toxic... Overheat... Fire Fang... or even Return. There are not many ways you can make this guy though. Espeon: Psychic is definitely a must (Psybeam/Confusion early on). Get Swift and Shadow Ball as well... and it's a fast sweeping powerhouse. Calm Mind makes it even more deadlier. Umbreon: Just avoid it if you can. Dark Pulse or Payback can work with this guy though, but unless you want to stall your opponent out, just don't use it. Confuse Ray can be helpful though. Relyte made a couple of good suggestions for your team as well... so try them out.
  2.

You got lucky. And I don't know if "catching a Pokemon" constitutes anything as "easy"...

  3. It seems internal data in the game from Diamond/Pearl has locations for a Johto Gold and Johto Silver... but no Crystal. In other words, it is highly unlikely. Most if not all additions that were added to G/S in Crystal are placed in HGSS, such as Eusine, a rogue Suicune, Battle Tower (now a Frontier), etc...
  4.

There should be an option called "Manage Attachments" or something in the post options...

  5.

Ok... I'm serious. He just came over and started spamming with new accounts... posting up inappropriate pictures on my VM. What is the meaning of this?

  6.

It's not that. He started it... and I have no clue why.

  7.

I don't think that is it. He started messing with me and MewtwoEX... for no apparent reason. And now I see from your wall that he was going to "never come back" anyways... which means he was planning this all along.

  8.

Kunai... tell me something if you can on PM. Why was telos acting this way? Do you know if something is going on with his life? He seems to only care about annoying others... and his last comment there tells me something weird...

I don't know if I was even justified on banning him either.

Wow... and he called me boring so he targets me first. I suppose I am indeed boring... as my brother also calls me that.

  9. Remember, this is a JOHTO game. Rhyperior did not exist until Gen IV... and those people probably didn't know about Rhyperior. I heard Giovanni was the first person who discovered that Rhydon could evolve. If you wanted to get disappointed at unevolved Pokemon, look at BROCK. He has two trainers in his gym, one who uses a Golem and the other who uses a Rhydon. Then comes Brock with his... Rhyhorn and Graveler? WHAT?! That unevolved trend started when they made that lazy rehash they call Fire Red/Leaf Green. Giovanni, the boss of the ultimate mafia that terrorized Kanto, Team Rocket, had the most powerful Pokemon in Team Rocket... a level 50... RHYHORN?! Wait... what?! Whatever happened to his Rhydon? Did Gamefreak think we couldn't handle a Rhydon? Shame! But at least Green/Blue used a Rhydon... Ace Trainer Gaven near Victory Road has a decent-ish team... consisting of a Victreebel, Flareon, and Kingler. But the other people around seem a bit weird. Jamie has only Rapidash (although if you rematch her she gains an Ampharos). Some Ace Trainer Joyce had a Pikachu and a Blastoise. Game just has a low level curve... that is all. Although to be fair, most trainers you encounter towards Victory Road are Ace Trainers. The reason Green/Blue had an amazing team was because he was the rival of last gen... and he used to be the Pokemon Champion don't forget. But I didn't expect his team to be TR-esque. Pretty challenging in my opinion. Ironically, the one which gave me the most trouble was his lowest level Pokemon, Gyarados. But then again, that's probably because I didn't have any electric Pokemon around. His ultimate Pokemon seems to be a Pidgeot... which was actually supposed to be his lead Pokemon in the previous generations. He switched it around to Exeggutor. Now don't talk about Cynthia... she's a cheater with Pokemon having 31 IVs across the board along with using top tier Pokemon like Milotic and Lucario and Roserade... His rematch team though... I would expect his team to be higher level than Lance's since he defeated Lance three years ago... but I guess they didn't do that either. Oh well. He does manage to evolve his Rhydon after this though... but his Machamp's set is... weird o_O And his ultimate Pokemon still remains Pidgeot of all things... and he kicked out his Gyarados >.>
  10.

Right. Ditto.

  11. Yes, level curve was made purposely low so that the Kanto gym leaders wouldn't be at something like 70s. However, I was pretty underleveled, only reaching level 36-38s when I reached the Victory Road.
  12. Blue means Male. Red means Female. Green means No Gender.
  13.

Mhh... criticisms should be constructive, not "lulz mai t33m pwnz j00" or something dumb...

  14. Yeah, I searched for "walk through walls", but it isn't known as that here. Instead, it's called "move anywhere" There you go.
  15. Good job. Joey will be really jealous. By the way where is Ralts?
  16. Yeah, you're right. It's after defeating Red. I think I rushed to fighting Red after the E4 so fast I didn't have time to think when.
  17. Oh that's what you mean. Every 4 EVs become 1 stat point... and since 255 is not divisible by 4, they go to 252, which is the maximum possible for a number divisible by 4. I don't know why you would want your spread though, but as long as the total adds up to 510, then it is possible. Remember though, 508 is divisible by 4, 510 isn't, so 2 EVs are always "wasted".
  18. Wouldn't a whole team of 31 IV Pokemon count as "hacked"? I mean, technically it is possible, but it seems way too outlandish. In fact, those are the types of people I tend to avoid (let alone possessing the PERFECT Hidden Powers as well). Anyhow, we have no idea what IVs every Pokemon in that tournament had. Just try beneficial natures... and 2-3 IVs in the 30s range should be good enough. If you CAN get 4, great. Then EV train them the way you desire them to be. You wouldn't believe it but some people are actually non-competitive... using stuff like Strength Kangaskhan or Rock Climb Hariyama or Surf Rhyperior of all things... (at least that is what I hear)
  19.

Forget about BEST. Use whichever you like to use... which I've been doing. Seriously if they go "lol @ Heracross use Scizor" or something like that... that would annoy me.

Yeah I don't go on Shoddy often unless someone summons me.

  20. You'd need to defeat the Elite 4's second rosters... after defeating all 16 gym leaders and talking to Professor Oak the Elite 4 will get tougher. After you beat their second rosters Steven will be there and Professor Oak can give you the Kanto starters as well. Erm, about your EV training question... there is NO specific way to EV train. It's just that a maximum in one stat can be 255, maximum altogether is 510. So you can have 85 in all stats if you wanted (it isn't optimal but just an example).

    Yeah, so,

Same here. My school does not allow me to connect on the IRC as well... why it is so is anyone's guess.
  22. The Farawayplace and the Pokeball values are necessary for backwards compatibilty with DPP, when HGSS locations did not exist and Kurt's balls did not exist. If you trade to DPP from HGSS, the custom Pokeballs will always turn into a regular Pokeball, but if you trade to HGSS, they will search for the 85h value of it because that is where the data for the new Pokeball is stored in. Same for Johto... 46h and 47h stores the Johto location in hex so when it is traded to DPP when Johto locations were not programmed it will state "Farawayplace". So everything is right... you just have to expect Gamefreak to try and make HGSS compatible with DPP, and this is how they did it. So if you are editing a Pokemon caught in a custom Pokeball... NEVER EVER change that Pokeball into, let's say, Lure Ball. Keep it a Pokeball but change the 85h value accordingly.
  23. Oh boy o_O Although, to be fair, getting a legend with the right IVs is disgustingly hard. But even without the right IVs, those Pokemon are still scary. I don't know... I believe the Pokemon that are not allowed are only chosen by their availability or something... seeing how most of them are are the 600 BST Pixies...
  24. Yes, a Ninetales with STAB and Charcoal boost... survived Flamethrower... and I was its same level. I don't care anymore... the game LOVES to do that to me... leave the enemy's Pokemon on pixel of an HP... Oh and get this... Heracross learned Megahorn at that battle... when I needed it against Exeggutor. Just wonderful. Anyhow, I may have underestimated the gym leaders of HGSS (aside from Falkner). Perhaps the low level curve really does affect leveling up... since most of my friends who play NORMALLY end up around 38ish even after they complete Victory Road. It seems strange in the end, but whatever.

    FML

Not always... I'm prepared for those people who use Smogon sets as well. Frankly I believe it destroys the integrity of the game but I'm always wary of Hidden Power Grass electrics who switch into my Swampert (why else would they go in then?) and try my best to play regularly. Sure, I won't be using Hidden Power or legendaries... but I'm sure there are ways to enjoy the game without cheating through. There definitely is a way to win without running perfect stats, that I can tell you. I've won many battles... without cheating and lost some... fair and square. School and work... yeah same here. I think that's most of us. But then again, I don't know if we have time to play Pokemon then. And I certainly don't enjoy breeding... it's long and tedious... and getting good IVs/natures is hard... and EV training takes quite a lot of time, but there are ways to speed it up. Nor does my Ninetales want to breed with a reindeer to get baby foxes with the ability to put people to sleep 60% of the time or fire Energy Balls... Have fun with your game then...
