<p><p><p><p><p><p>30 May 1431: Jeanne d'Arc burned at the stake during the Hundred Years War at age 19. A peasant girl from Domrémy, she somehow began to lead the French army into numerous victories after receiving a vision from God. She remains an integral symbol for French pride, even today's Third Republic. She told the young Dauphin (future Charles VII) that France does not belong to him, but to God. I have a slightly different version of Joan to tell though than most Catholic people.</p></p></p></p></p></p>
