Many people thought that this was an evolution of an existing Pokemon but they were wrong. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; ">This is a brand new Pokemon, and not an evolution of an existing Pokemon. </span></p> <p> <span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;">It was through the scans of Coro Coro - that the first details were dropped. Without further ado, here are the scans:</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: center; "> <img align="bottom" alt="" height="186" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/2lsxhci.jpg" width="250" /></p> <p style="text-align: center; "> <img alt="" height="191" src="http://i49.tinypic.com/16hl1l5.jpg" width="250" /></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> <span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Far from the assumptions that many fans have given, that Z is like a fox, and for a good reason, it is! This new Pokemons name is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: italic; ">Zoroark</span> and it is a Dark-type and weighs 81.1 kilograms to 1.60 m. Its classification is "Monster Fox Pokemon". The small Pokémon being at its side is, you guessed it, its <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: italic; ">Zoroark</span>'s pre-evolution: Zorua. It measures 0.70 m and weighs 12.5kg. It's classification is "Evil Fox Pokemon".</span></span></p> <p> <span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:12px;">On the second scan, we can see a new poster. The 13th film has its full name: "<strong>Phantom Champion: Zoroark</strong>". It will probably play a role, like Lucario did in the 8th Pokemon Movie. SwitzaHouse Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Nice, had a feeling it was going to be a Dark type. Their design isn't too bad, that was my main concern. The first form looks better then the evolved form to me, though I am happy with their designs, they don't look too over the top/don't look like an actual animal. Can't wait to hear the American name, probably be something funny, maybe Lupin something since it is a fox.

I'm also curious to know what kind of American name they'll come up with, though we won't find out till next year. And I had high hopes that it would've of been an evolution of a Mightyena because the silhouette was pretty much similar to it.
nathanmcnutt Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 It looks so cool. I think Gen 5 will be okay. Cant wait to here more about them both.
staka Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Saw this first on another place few hours ago but a legendary pokemon that evolves... I first thought Zorua is a mixture of Vulpix and Eevee. Why is it Zorua when it's pronounced Zoroa?
pokemonrulz Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I like them both, but the only thing i don't like is the red dot on Zoroark it's face.
MACandCHEEZWIZ1 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Saw this first on another place few hours ago but a legendary pokemon that evolves... I first thought Zorua is a mixture of Vulpix and Eevee. Why is it Zorua when it's pronounced Zoroa? Same story with me. I was on Serebii, and when I saw the title, I'm like "Woah!". I wasn't ready for it so soon. For a while now, I've wanted to figure a new Japanese Pokémon name or game, just to say I figured it out without the assistance of a website or translator. I got out my sheet of Katakana that I made, and looked at the Japanese names. I ended up with Sorua and Soruaaku (I didn't notice the dakuten) and tried to think of an English basing or possible official romaji name. I didn't think hard enough, and didn't make -aaku into ark or arc. I checked for name confirmation, seeing that it was Zoroa and Zoroark/Zoroaaku. I felt silly for forgetting the dakuten, but otherwise proud for figuring out most of the name AWW BY MYSEWF. I'm a big boy now! Oh yeah, the fact that ru became ro is weird. Can anyone figure out an English or Japanese reference in this name? Also, yeah, this is definately the new Lucario.
Zafur Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I dislike the first form more... The face looks so awkward.
Guested Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 The original news article has been changed to show more accurate translations of the Pokemons' classificiations.
ZMaster Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 HA! Take that people-who-thought-it-was-an-evolution-of-other-Pokémon and the people-who-thought-it-looked-similar-to-previous-Pokémon. This is my logic: Why would they introduce an evolution of a previous Pokémon when a new game is coming out? If it was from something pre-existing, people would lose hype saying "Oh, I have the Pokémon needed to get it, no worries." But this, is a brand new Pokémon, and no one knows the conditions and what else comes with it, yet.

Did anyone else notice the fact that the evolved form has a different hair tie in the two pictures? In one its very thin with a leaf attached possibly and the other is a thick blue band. Weird... O_o
amh7912 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Well its dark, setting up for my theory of an evil Pokemon who becomes good, though it could be the first pokemon who is actually "evil". However, Gamefreak would reveal at the end its good, because "no pokemon is naturally evil."

PokeDaemon Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I really wish for the day a Pokemon evolves based on hatred and this could be the Pokemon. Really unlikely considering that Pokemon's demographic is children, but it would make an interesting movie plot. Anyway, I like the two designs, but someone decided that light green equals light blue and that is incorrect.
KazoWAR Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Anyone know what it says about Celebi in the second picture?
Lucario Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I was really glad it wasn't a Lucario evolution. I already expected it to be some kind of fox, though i was thinking of ninetales. But still it's another cool looking pokemon.
Fallen Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Not sure how I feel about this one. It seems like the went with some of the same ideas that they did with Lucario because he came out so popular. I wouldn't be surprised if the revealed that he has a secondary type, and it's fighting. Hopefully the others to come look much better and have more to offer. Though I am glad that it is an entirely new Pokémon by having no ties to previous generations.
wraith89 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 They would never make a starring Pokemon an evolution of an existing Pokemon... that'd be absurd But... it's another Lucario-esque Poke... which isn't surprising.

I think it's more of a Mightyena-esque. Not similar by looks, but by type. Another pure dark-type.
Lucario Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Maybe it's about time for the to make stronger DARK/GHOST type. And make an item like a jewel of life for dear Arceus.
