CarthForleizen Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 i couldnt care less what the names are. lolwut? But in regards to the "Dusk" and "Dawn" talks, those would be excellent names. However, I disagree with your placement of them, Fallen. I think they would be better as "Gold(en) Dawn". Of course, it would end up as "Dawn Gold", but whatever. Silver Dusk just sounds really great to me, but it ain't happening. :l
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Silver Soul and Golden Heart do sound decent. But than again these names are at least okay.
bear831 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I like silvers name but i don't like the name heart gold it sounds a little corny, the previously speculated names;Dawn Silver and Dusk Gold were better in my opinion.
CarthForleizen Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 ARGH! I didn't close my italic tag. ;_; Anyway, I think Nintendo could have been more creative with the names. But to be honest, I don't care a whole lot. I'm just happy to have the best games in the series back. :3
Chase-san Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hopefully they pick better names for the US release.
ZMaster Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hopefully they pick better names for the US release. The names aren't bad, at all even. They might flip the names though. Gold Heart and Silver Soul sounds pretty nice. I still love the concept of Heart & Soul <3
HottSushiz Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 it feels easier to pronounce Silver Soul & Gold Heart than soul silver & heart gold. and it also sounds better, but i doubt they would consider swapping the current names, for example look at Firered, and Leafgreen, they didn't swap around and be named Redfire and Greenleaf.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Yeah, and besides, I'm perfectly fine with Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
Aarux Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I actually liked the old, rumored names: Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver (Or whatever it was.) Heart Gold and Soul Silver doesn't sound very good to me. It doesn't sound right for some reason.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Me too Aarux. I loved those names. And they actually had a meaning to the game. It was in Bulbapedia, but its been removed since the new games were approved. Edited May 20, 2009 by FLOOTENKERP
Aarux Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Yeah, they had meanings. But HGSS isn't out yet, so we don't know if there'll be some meaning now or not. I doubt it, though. What would Heart and Soul have to do with the plot?
HottSushiz Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 ^ ^ Heart, something that pumps oxygen rich blood into our veins, the heart that all Pokemon possess, either through love, and compassion, anyone who spots Ho-oh is blessed with eternal happiness, which what the heat desires. Soul the power inside of us, it requires strive, commitment, and endurance, to catch a creatures that is able to create a 40 day storm, with a flap of his mighty wings. I don't really know just random babbling

pokemonfan Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Ok here is how i think of it..... there are 3 ways to look at it (in my opinion) 1. You have to have a heart of gold and the soul of silver to see some of the most powerful legendary pokemon. 2. Heart gold because of the saying "oh you have a heart of gold" and soul silver because they both start with the same letter and soul ties in with heart. 3. Or the whole thing could be based off of rudolph. Rudolph had to have the heart and the soul to get through his troubles. Also there is a song about silver and gold in the movie rudolph. I hope I'm not the only one who has ever seen the movie....
Enkidu Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Or it could just be an allusion to the many poems, sayings and phrases that talk about 2 destined people, brothers to the end, true friends et cetera,. where the most common analogy is the distinction between silver and gold? Anyway pokefan, get on shoddy and battle me.
Skyblade Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I'm sure that Nintendo would have loved to name them as they did with Fire Red and Leaf Green. I mean, it's a fairly simple naming convention: Fire is Red, so we got Fire Red. But what is gold colored? Well, gold is. But Gold Gold doesn't really sound that great. So they chose something else. It's not the best name in the world, but don't criticize it for "not fitting in with the rest of the naming conventions", because, seriously, how were they supposed to?
mewmart Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Well, to me both Heart Gold and Soul Silver sounds okay to me. But well, like some others, I would have liked Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver better. =P
Tsubasa Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 it sound good , no longer a pokemon game name after a rock or something expensive
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Do names really matter if the game is good? I just can't wait.
mewmart Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Well, that's what the forums are for, for us to suggest alternatives =D
Fallen Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Kind of. You can't market a bad name as well as you can if you have a good name.
