  1. Actually, he's talking about post by post roleplaying, not fan fiction, there's a difference. Depending on how serious people are, it can be an enjoyable experience. I don't think it would work on this board, but I noticed this thread since I am a very heavy PbP roleplayer and enjoy it. I was in a Pokemon RP just once... it was a shame it didn't last. How PbP RP is different from blogging or fanfiction is that it's a project/goal that cannot be met with one person writing. That Pokemon RP is here, if anyone was curious: http://roleplayerguild.com/f9/the-pokepox-ic-12360/
  2. Well... some guys don't really take a hint when you tell him to "go take a hike," I've just found for gamers like this in general (gender regardless) that you just have to embarrass them through knowledge. Ugh, but yeah, I had some big shots try and tell me that we sold USB A and USB B cables (which we didn't), then he accused me of being a "useless woman" and asked someone else. Jerkface. Even had some punk teenage guys try and be right smartarses about Playstation 2 (the original + models) using USB 2.0 (which they didn't.) You get 'em in all types. They're all the same. Bah, chauvinists. I shouldn't really be complaining though, a lot of guys I've met are so respectful of it. Please don't change your avi, I think it's gorgeous. (I shall silently nickname you 'midori no neko') :3
  3. Well, what you have with the little icons of the forms was what I was after. I just had no idea that they even had a function initially, because they were so small. They just seem insignificant, due to it's size. For something that carries such an important browsing feature, overlooking them is probably quite likely. In my case, I simply overlooked it. Since it's the only viable in-page linking, it still makes for excessive scrolling if you DO happen to miss it.
  4. Ah. Baka. From this rather inane course of conversation, it's probably obvious by now that I cannot help you. *sweatdrop*
  5. Sounds great! (HAR HAR, I see you put the alphabetical indexing in already. You're quick!) I stumbled upon the page for Wormadam this morning to see how those alternate forms were being displayed. All the evolution links between Burmy and said Wormadams are labelled as "Felmale", rather than "Female." (Edit: Actually, this is the case with any female specific evo.) I thought of another suggestion whilst browsing through that page... but I think the form images for Pokémon might benefit from being at the stop of the page just after the main vitals (i.e. abilities, type, egg group, etc). To speed up the process of searching, the Pokémon form images would link to page anchors to the specified Pokémon form's information. (Therefore you don't necessarily have to scroll for whatever form you need info. for) I thought I'd suggest this to increase efficiency of browsing. I'm just not sure how viable it is. However, with Rotom having five forms, if the pages are to become as comprehensive as predicted, this might be a possible solution.
  6. It was a brave move for Square Enix, but it deserved all the acclaim it got. It was edgy and it was different, which is what I appreciated about it. The music I'm a bit mixed on, but the feel was right for the game. I enjoyed the experience because it was different. All the Squeenix releases up to that date were all disappointing and unsatisfying for me. So this game really revived me. I'm not all for the rap/graffiti culture, but I think there was a nice animate spin on it. I learned to appreciate it not long after. It's one of my favourites. For someone like me who owns a flash cart and actually went out to physically buy the game afterwards... It felt good. It was a bonafide, cracker release in my opinion.
  7. Gator: I always think it's important to have the oestrogen claim their place in the gaming world. Too many a time I had cocky punk males coming up to me and saying "girls can't play games." Ugh. It's just SO detestable. You work in the gaming industry for four years and you STILL don't get respect. HELLO... female enthusiast coder here... Greencat: Will do. I'm totally digging on your avatar, it's so avant garde. Very chic.
  8. Eh... what did you expect? I'm a girl.
  9. That one with the slidy QWERTY keyboard reminds me of the Sidebrick--I mean, Sidekick II. Those are ugg-lee. Seriously. I love and will always cherish my Sony Ericsson W595. It's small, sleek and colourful. Nice sound, nice battery life, very nice interface. I originally had the touch screen W950i. What a piece of garbage, honestly.
  10. ;; Dude, that sounds awfully ambitious. You're gonna get out there and search for the AR Codes? That'll be a beastly search. You'll need to remember that for each code and for each version of the same game requires a different AR code, yes? It seems like unnecessary work for very little feedback. If you need a good comprehensive source that you reference without the internet, may I suggest the Prima guide? Prima have made some SHOCKING guides in the past, but this one is fairly good. The capture information is admittedly really badly sorted, but it does what it's supposed to, I guess
  11. I do have a couple more questions: Is there a place for reporting lexical errors? Or can I do so here? Also, I think with the fact that many Pokémon evolve with the use of items/held-items & trade, would there be need of linking these item graphics to a future item-dex or would you be putting item locations as additional information on the current Pokédex pages? pokemonfan: Dude, you totally made me hungry.
  12. Nope, that's right. Alternate forme Pokémon are not allowed via WiFi. I'm sure of this for Giratina and Shaymin. Not sure about Rotom, but I figure it's probably the same deal.
  13. Okay, well I know that R4's have problems with WiFi if the ROMs are trimmed. Usually when they're trimmed, the data that gets inadvertently removed is that for WiFi capability. That's one option. The other is something that Greencat is trying to clarify. If you custom made the .sav file for your friend: Did you do it using a .sav from the same language region Platinum version? Because although it's an English version, you need to be aware that there are different versions. There's the US, EUR and AUS releases. Normally, I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but yeah. Also, does the save you gave him have HIS OT set as himself with varying secret ID's? I wouldn't think it would be an issue with conflicting secret ID's, but there could be a mishap not with the connection but the information being conveyed to the WiFi. Here's what I suggest you do: 1) Make him start a new game. 2) Get him to upload the new .sav to you. 3) You edit the .sav accordingly. 4) Resend it back to him. 5) You'll need to reregister each other's FC's because his one would have changed. 6) Try the WiFi again. Edit: What R4 card is it EXACTLY? Because the official R4 is no longer supported by the R4 team. (and the last known version of 1.18 does not support Pokémon Platinum) Any SDHC R4 card is a clone, a fake. I've owned one myself and found that it has problems with WiFi and corrupting save files with WiFi downloads.
  14. Hey there! I am new also, but it's always nice to see that people can and do take Pokémon seriously! There's so many hidden mechanics! Your project sounds pretty hard-out. So the "databases" you'll be working on are going to be solely a spreadsheet collation or do you aim to process them into a working graphical infrastructure?
  15. HottSushiz: Yeah I read in another thread I posted in that you were a Kiwi. That's always sort of exciting when you know someone else lives in the same area as you. Feels like a small world. ZMaster: See! Asians exist in New Zealand. Truth is that Auckland is Asian majority. (Which is unusual, but not surprising) Oh, don't worry, about HottSushiz, I'm more interested in you. Profile, please!
  16. Hey there, Zen! (See look, ZMaster) Zengetsu. Makes for more great Z sounds! Ooo, I like your avatar. Celebi is so graceful I reminds me that I have not yet revealed that my favourite colour is Emerald green. The colour of serene nature. Also of jealousy, but I am not jealous by nature! It is nice to meet everyone! :3 Thank you all for the welcome!
  17. Aw... You're not going to say are you? I would have thought it interesting. Is it embarrassing? (Wouldn't think so because Z makes some interesting sounds)
  18. Well. I have an interest in Japanese culture, but I do not consider myself an "otaku," "weeaboo" or what have you. I express my interests in this thread because it is an introduction. Please don't try to indirectly or directly insult me. I'm a fangirl, but I'm not without intellect or a temper. ZMaster: YAH! I'm a New Zealand born Chinese! There's a lot of us here, you know. It aint all covered in sheep like some of you think. I live in Auckland, so it's like a really mini and run down version of New York. Auckland is varied though, there's slap-bam suburbia, almost slums and high level metropolis all within twenty minutes to half hour of each other. So, your name starts with Z... Let me guess... ZZZZ....Zac?
  19. I can't be a weeaboo, thank you very much. I'm Asian.
  20. OMG. I didn't even get to leave the thread before someone posted. I FEEL LOVED. *huggles ZMaster* Thank yous! Oh you like Porygon Z? It's so cute... you know? Oh? My avi? That's Hisui from the anime "Lunar Legend Tsukihime" I have a thing for cosplay as well, and particularly like the maid culture. (Talk about frea-ky) I'm not ashamed. I AM NOT ASHAMED.
  21. HOOOOOWDY! From the small country of New Zealand! Don't think I'll go with the clichéd, "Hey my name is ________" because you saw that before you even walk-- I mean, clicked on this thread link! I'm a certifiable Pokénut. All the people I know will be happy to tell you they don't know me when I start talking about Pokémon! My obsession has been around since the good ol' day of ninety-ninety-six! You know... back when tracksuits were still kosher! (Boy, I miss me tracksuits...) Over a decade later, not much has changed. (I guess I'm more fashionable now), but so are Pokémon! So huzzah! I am FEMALE! But the cell right by this post already said that My first name is Melissa; can't say I like it, but it's my name and it costs money to change it (why bother?) My favourite Pokémon is GLACEON. I love fried chicken, potatoes (but not them mashed ones from KFC. You seen 'em gone green the next day after they've been in the fridge? OMG.), steamed salmon and watercress soup! ...and Pokémon. Geez. Totally forgot to mention the obvious! I'm a typical tomboy, I love gaming, mecha, japanese figures of any kind, trading cards, comic books. Unlike typical tomboys, I have a fetish for handbags. (Yeah, I see you boys looking at that thinking, "Ew...") I just jumped on the Pokésav bandwagon about a couple of weeks ago so I'm still green and lovin' it! Imma gonna wrap this up! THANK YOU EVERYONE! You guys were great! That's me over and out!
  22. There aren't a lot of options for flash cards for the DSi at the moment. As a heavy flash cart user, in my experience I've found that you really get what you pay for. I would honestly recommend waiting and saving for something decent. The Acekard2i is my recommendation. It's on the expensive side, but it is highly compatible and reliable. It's also voted by a lot of flash cart users to be one of the best. When it comes to using such fragile hardware, you do have to think about investing more moolah into them because there's nothing worse than buying a cheap piece of hardware and having it break or become non functional due to inferior manufacturing. Buy a good product for the right price. Cheap doesn't always give you reliability and most certainly is a sure fire way of getting a product of substandard quality.
