Fantome Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Personally, I always have the GB player on. Maybe it's partly nostalgia, but I just find the original music waaaaaaay better than the new. The new music has too many weird instruments in it to me. D: Which one do you like?
wraith89 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Definitely using the GB Player to play old music. When I first got that item, I got very excited as it brought back memories of playing the original GSC. Although it isn't all the same, GB Player made it seem like those good times when Pokemon was actually good. That was a very smart move of Gamefreak... and I wish they had done that in FRLG. Route 11-15's music in RBY was just awesome... but the perma-bike music did not allow me to listen to all that epicness everytime
Midna312 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 That is my favorite scenario item lol. Of course I perfer the classical music!

cos7191 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Unfortunately, a lot of the GB Player music sounds too different to the original tracks, so I find myself preferring the HG/SS music to a lot of them. It's a shame they couldn't make them sound more authentic to the originals, because I'd use it a lot more often.
Yellowtoad Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I like the new music, the old music didn't sound much like it did in G/S/C.
SmellTheBurningEmber Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Where's the "Depends on what mood I'm in" option? ~STBE
Eievu Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) I use the GB music, than playing the new music. Edited September 12, 2010 by Eievu forgot something
DarkraiFan999 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I like to have it on 99% of the time except for when i battle Lance or when i battled Red. I love their music it's so awesome!
5H4D0W Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Old Because That's Where It All Began & It Brings Back Memories Without The Old We Wouldn't Be Where We Are Today
YugiMotoGoesEmo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 It depends where I am in the game, otherwise I put on the GB player.
Mewtwo Ex Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I decide where i am and wonder if the original would be best. It usually is. So i pick at locations.
Sel Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Crystal, so the classic 8-bit beeps and boops are my preference. It brings back alot of old memories.
Shadowlord757 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Old music all the way, especially in lavander town
Sunny day Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Actually, I never have played the GB sounds in my Heartgold game (except the time I checked it out). Although, the old 8-bits music was better in my opinion, but more in composition than in sound. I was disappointed when I heard the new music of Heartgold because I thought they could do much more cool things with the material than fill it up with random instruments and weird extra passages. But... to play with the graphics of Heartgold and hear those 8-bits sounds? I do not like that experience, so I do not use the GB option. I prefer to enjoy the music of which I think it is still good (the Team Rocket Theme, the Tin Tower for example). The new music also has some pros, what do you think about the National Park piano cadenza? It is fantastic, for sure!
Interface Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I actually don't have a GB but I use the emulator on my laptop. When I go into a town in SS I go to the same town in Silver on my laptop
wraith89 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Er... GB Player is an item that allows you to toggle between the new music and the old music. After you get all 16 badges or something you can get that item from a Gamefreak employee in Celadon City.
Shiny Charizard Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 The old music is definitely much better plus it makes me feel like i'm playing the original version.
Galdr Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I like the GB Player on. It brings back so many memories. Ahh, nostalgia. Then again, the new music is like a Pick-Me-Up (lol Super Mario RPG ref) so, it's also nice to hear too. I can't...choose. They're both awesome to me!
Cuber Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Sometimes I have it on, sometimes off... normally off, call me crazy but in a lot of places I prefer new. >_>;; And I played the original to death as a kid. It'd be cooler if they'd made it change the graphics too, lul.
Kirixa Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I love the gb player SO MUCH but getting it that late in the game was a shame. If they would've just ran with the gb player from the very first moment (like a mysterious package appearing at the door when you leave the house) I would've sent letters of praise to gamefreak that very instance and would have loved heartgold so so much more than I did now
TiBon Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Of course, that's the music I grew up with, it has literally scarred me (but now I prefer playing White )
