HottSushiz Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I appreciate the critical thinking regarding infinity and zero. Here is a little explination.Infinity can be evaluated not as a number, but as part of a limit equation using calculus. In calculus the equation would read The Limit of X / 0 as X approaches infinity approaches infinity. In addition there is also the equation, The Limit of X / 0 as X approaches negative infinity approaches infinity. To represent X as a range, I used the open interval, -∞ to ∞ which is represented by (-∞,∞). Open intervals do not include the number themselves. I would explain how to arrive at the answer for the limits, but I must get ready for work. However, the answer to X / 0 for both negative and positive numbers is infinity. Ugh, my head hurts. 7!
HottSushiz Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Sorry, i didn't noticed that you posted before me, anywho. 1!
Greencat Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 It's okay, I forgive you. Oh darn, I'm sorry, can you forgive meh?
Greencat Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hehe, is this torturing you? I mean, cause that's not why I'm doing this, nah. I'm just posting to say hi to everyone, see how it's going, small stuff really. ;D lol
Sabresite Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hi. Actually, I was really tired and the explination for x / 0 was wrong. Its actually Limit of X / Y as Y approaches 0. For all positive X's, it is infinity, and for all negative X's its negative infinity. If you are talking in a linear algebra or abstract algebra perspective, it could be completely different.
damio Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 2 Can we remove the new rules? the negatives are quite confusing when trying to keep track, since most people don't notice.
HottSushiz Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I noticed, when i get confused i just don't post. 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4
