Didn't you hate how easy the gym leaders were (aside from Whitney's killer Miltank)? This is just a theoretical proposal to make each and every Gym Leaders challenging in-game. If there are any objections... or if stuff looks too hard, let me know. :)

I think it would be nice if they used newer Pokemon too with their teams.

For example:

Morty can have a Sleep Haunter, Special Gengar, Sableye and Physical Haunter.

Claire can have a Special Dragonair, Altaria, Mix Dragonair and Salamence.

Posted

This is great! G&S were all to easy. -_- The producers were too lazy to even care. Like GC said, new pokemon can make these teams even more leathal. Mamoswine to Pryce would be one example.

Yeah, I wanted to do that too, but since this is a remake of GSC, I didn't think they'd be adding those other Pokemon in because they're not native to Johto... but I'll think about it.

Maybe it makes more sense during their rematches. They'll get all sorts of cool Pokemon. And I just noticed... 6th and 7th gym leaders of Sinnoh and Johto are Steel and Ice type users, respectively! O_O

Posted

Hm, yeah... you're right... but they overdid it in FR/LG! Only 150 Pokemon were allowed to be seen before the National Dex... and Golbat couldn't evolve into a Crobat! That's what turned me off...

The E4 rematch in FR/LG had one of their Pokemon replaced with a foreign Pokemon. That I've seen :)

X-Scissor might be too strong on Bugsy's Scyther. I might replace with the UBERW00TPWNAGE Fury Cutter!

Posted

I like the idea of having stronger gym leaders. Definitely make everything more of a challenge. It would be weird if they had that difficulty setting(or the pokemon you chose as your starter) that sort of tweaks the levels of all pokemon you encounter, trained and wild.

Posted
So what do you think guys? Is X-Scissor on Bugsy's Scyther a bit too strong? :-/

His signature move back then was Fury Cutter, so I'm wondering if I should replace it with that or not...

Well, depending on your starter, it might be tough. Chikorita (or maybe bayleaf) wouldn't stand much of a chance to an X-scissor.

You're right! I'm changing that instantly! :-/

Added the E4, first round.

3 dragonites on the champion seem almost overkill. I mean, if you can handle one, you can probably handle the other two.

It's been like that since GSC. Besides, there's not much dragons in the Kanto/Johto area other than the Dratini family and Kingdra @_@

Posted

Then give him some dragons for the newer generations, it would give people an exciting taste of what they'll be able to get after they beat him and get the National Dex =D

Besides, as Champion, it makes sense that he would be able to afford to travel further and catch different Pokemon.

Posted

Yeah when i was battling Lance, i had no Pokemon left, except my Zapdos, which had little HP, and even littler PP, i coincidentally always seem to fight the elite 4, or whatever you call it, under leveled, and i PWNED all of his so called, "dragons" with 8 Thunders, it was pretty epic.

Posted

I absolutely love your set up! Stronger leaders FTW! However, i think the reason for the low levels in the Original was because of going to Kanto. Could be wrong though. My G/S/C died years ago so I can't go back and check T^T Either way I really hope they make the leaders stronger. I am not 12 years old anymore xD

On an unrelated note, can someone please tell me how you have those badges under your names or at least direct to the right place to find out?

Posted

I think that adding some newer pokemon in moderation especially for Lance because that is way to many dragonites, how about garchomp or some other dragon, maybe even a legendary pokemon

Posted

Hello everyone. Thanks for your suggestions :)

The problem with adding newer species is that it somewhat ruins the "remake" feelings. I don't think anyone wants Johto to be littered with Hoenn or Sinnoh Pokemon (other than evolutions of pre-existing Pokemon, but that's besides the point). I'm still debating whether it should be Piloswine or Mamoswine on Pryce's. Hmmm... nah. At this point, there is probably going to be a second batch of E4 and gym leaders, so if I make a thread regarding a second batch, they'll use new species then. :)

If they change something as important as the Elite Four, I don't know what I'd do. I'm not down with remapped areas, changed girl character, major tweaks to storyline, and new added Pokémon to areas that didn't originally have them. I loved the original game so much that I want a reasonable remake, with great updates but still by the same story. But I would still play it if it had changes. Just not too big Game Freak, please.

that's true but Lance should use less dragonites but what other dragons are their to choose from? What about another gyarados instead of a dragonite because it is at least one less?

Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Kingdra >.>

Need I say anything?

Two Gyarados is weird... and his original roster in RBY had 2 Dragonairs and 1 Dragonite.

I want this to stick to my childhood. It's fine to make some tweaks, but not to major. Changing the team of the champion is going to far. 3 Dragonites should stay. If no one likes his team, they could rom-hack his team. A lot of people are to passionate about this stuff, including me.

QFT (quoted for truth).

The second rematch one, however, will have some changes in his team :D

But I hope you don't mind how I changed Will and Koga... I replaced one Xatu with Alakazam and Ariados with Weezing... and shifted Koga's teams roster slightly.
