  1. LOL, do you realize this is about mentioning a Pokémon depending on the last letter of the last Pokémon name that was posted? If the last (correct) Pokémon mentioned was Entei, then the next one would be something like: "Illumise" . And then you must mention another one with “E”, like: "Eevee".
  2. You have to open the options of your image editor and change the color depth to 16 colors. The location of said option changes depending on your software, in MS Paint you can go to: file>save as>16 color Bitmap. This will have an strong impact on the image if it was not originally made in such color depth, professional programs let you choose the colors for your palette.
  3. Thanks for your reply, Atrius. Do you mean “LAN mode” does not provide official support for trading Pokémon this way?
  4. I’m about to get Pokémon Sword and BPSD, I was wondering if there are any restrictions for transferring previous gens Pokémon from HOME to gen 8 games early on. You know, in the previous iterations, old gen transfers have opened until late/post game. Specifically: I’m interested in transferring my Gen III Jirachi, to pokemon Sword and my Gen III Mew to BPSD. And, what do I need to enable LAN trades in Pokémon Sword? Thank you!
  5. Remember to back up your game at least once a week. You will have to monitor your battery for about 6 months, in my experience, to avoid surprises.
  6. Hey there, that's sad news. I also checked the save file and it is blank. I think your equipment/software made a dummy and did not write any data because (probably) it's gone. I wonder about the process you referred to when talking about successful lost-data recovery from other games. If your save relies on a battery, once the data is lost, it’s gone forever. If the battery is almost dead, you can make a bridge with another battery and prevent its destruction. On the other hand, the soldering job looks acceptable. One part of the trick is not heating the stuff too much. Batteries can get very hot during the soldering process, and this kills them. Also, seek long lasting batteries, I've been replacing the batteries of my cartridges for a while. One of the biggest issues in the field is short lived (good for nothing) batteries. Sometimes it's old batteries, sometimes it's a bad batch, other times it's cheap stuff. If you can't find the right supplies on the internet, seek a watchmaker or a jeweler; they usually have good grade supplies, in the worst scenario they tell you how to find reliable providers.
  7. With the release of PKHeX (220626)b, my computer’s firewall warns me that PKHEX does not have a valid digital signature; it also tells me the program is trying to connect to GitHub. I know PKHEX connects to the internet looking for updates, but this "error" did not occur with previous versions of PKHEX. Can you check this? I also tested older builds to confirm this isn’t related to my system or my actions (like making rules or exceptions for PKHEX, but not remembering I did); older PKHEX versions work fine.
  8. What game? I often pick "seems to have a fond memory, but it doesn’t seem to be able to remember the details...", then I play the game and build memories with the pokémon. There's a button for memories on the "OT/Misc" tab, check it out.
  9. Can you have shiny starters too? I had the idea that wasn't possible, but some videos claim it's possible.
  10. Hey there, I am looking for a list of shiny-locked Pokémon for GEN III, could you point me to a reliable source? Also, could you tell me whether starters can be shiny or not in GEN III? (Several generations later, I don’t recall if this was possible or not). In case you are curious, I found (and changed the battery) of a R/S cartridge, and I am having a blast playing it. Thanks!
  11. All right, got it. It was fun using legal.exe, thanks man!
  12. Most likely not, but PKHex used to be compatible with it. Can I check the method employed to create a Pokemon with PKHex?
  13. The reason you do not have answers is because this is not a simple question; you can edit your sav in many ways! For example: If you EDIT your sav and give yourself a ticket to DEOXYS island (and your sav is a JPN region emerald), someone can detect the edit because you cannot have the ticket (it was not available). BUT in the first place, that person should be aware of that fact, to look for it. If you edit the held item of a POKEMON and give it a BICYCLE, then it is edited because you cannot give a POKEMON the BICYCLE; however, if you gave it a common BERRY, it would be almost impossible to tell you made the change. STILL, the person looking for the edits MUST know about the changes you made to look for them. Specifically, what do you want to find or prove? What did you change?
  14. Hey there, I have been trying to check PKM files with legal.exe, but the output PKM files won't work if they come from the newer PKHEX. FYI: I did change the extension from the right generation from pk* to PKM.
  15. Yeah, its a fun thing it took the data from the OT in english.
  16. That's very nice! Yes, so regarding the comparison between SARA and SARA, perhaps what we see in the picture is the value that addresses the character in the font map. So, hypothetically speaking, a full-width “S” stands as FF in the Japanese character map. And the regular “S” stands as FF in the English character map. However, if you enter a regular “S” in the Japanese character map, it doesn’t stick because it’s different than the fullwidth character “S”. When you change the PKM region to JPN, an OT name in “fullwidth text”* is expected; if you enter a name with the “standard text” you get an error. The error being “name is to short”. I can switch my keyboard input in the computer, so then I edited the OT “writing in Japanese” (that was my workaround). I did not have to change the name with the hex editor. So, the name sticks if you employ (for example) Japanese input, this is why I suggested updating the error message from “name is to short” to “use asian encoding”. When I entered the name using fullwidth characters the error was gone, it also was gone when you hex-edited the file because you assigned the correct S “via code”. BTW, I didn’t know the OT name wasn’t there until you asked for the OT name. I did not delete it, I saved the PKM egg using standard characters so you could see “the bug”. Interestingly, I changed the name to “Neko” but the file was saved with data from my sav file (hence the “utr” characters you pointed before). *(which I have been calling “Asian text” or “Asian encoded text”). Thank you both for the great replies.
  17. No, I put an "english encoded" name (it was NEKO) but it did not save with the file. The name from my sav was Sutr, but since it had said issues I changed it to NEKO (but it seems the name was deleted after I saved the file).
  18. Thanks! I noticed you applied “my workaround”. So, Pokémon eggs (GEN III) must be encoded as Japanese region Pokémon regardless of the sav file region. Since I was not aware of this detail, I had the impression this was some sort of bug. Then the """issue""" (not a real issue) is that Pokémon eggs are encoded with Asian characters; PKHex updates the OT name with the name in your sav file and if you load an English sav file, the OT name displays with non-Asian characters (e.g. NEKO instead of NEKO) and this returns the legality check issue. If Pokémon eggs must be Japanese, it would be good to automatically switch the region of the Pokémon to JPN after checking the “is egg” box, just like the name is automatically changed to タマゴ (tamago, egg in Japanese). An ideal addition would be automatically transposing the OT name from english to asian encoding (e.g. “A” to “A”) when checking the “is egg” box. Alternatively, we could have the error message changed from “OT name is too short” to “OT name should be in ASIAN text encoding”.
  19. Sure! Here it is. 246 - タマゴ - E371546CE61A.pk3
  20. I get the error if the egg's OT data is in english. My workaround was changing the name of the OT to Japanese. Since it's an egg there shouln't be issues with the game, but PKHEX considers it's an error otherwise "OT name is too short".
  21. Hey there, I have been working with Ruby (2002), when I check the "is egg" box, the nickname is displayed in japanese regardless of the language I pick. This doesn't happen with other games (e.g. moon or sword). So I get an error when the system checks if it's legit or not. Am I missing something? Could you take a look? Thanks!
  22. Sure, check your inbox. For the matter of extracting/dumping saved games, check this post: https://projectpokemon.org/home/tutorials/save-editing/managing-3ds-saves/
  23. Hey, hope you have a great time playing the game. The contributors of this community are true experts at this, you came to the right place! Laying your hands on PKHEX is the first step indeed, but you must be aware you have to prepare your system to extract saved-game files from your device, which might require you to tamper with your (switch) handheld. There are several technical details involved with modifying Pokémon, important things have changed from one generation to another. I have two suggestions for you: Download and edit saved-game files from the internet (e.g. Sword/Shield SAVs), to learn about using PKHEX and making legit Pokémon in the current generation. This will be a good start regardless of having a modified handled or not. Or, if you want to get acquainted with PXHEX using your own devices and data, I suggest you start with older handhelds and older games; it is easier to “modify” and older console than a newer one, including moving files from your PC to your device. The older games do not rely that much in web-based services, so you can reduce the risk of getting banned and ruining your account/game.
  24. Gen IV is probably the generation in which Pokémon reached full maturity. It gave me the impression it was targeted for the audience that grew playing Pokémon; I come to this conclusion because I have played Pokémon since its inception, the changes they made were very noticeable and contrasting (but also appealing): The design of the protagonists, its particularly evil antagonists, the presence of grim mythical “staple” Pokémons and the most fashionable league champion to date. There always is a wave of people that complain about the newest Pokémon games; however, I honestly did not find anybody playing the game “under protest” (as I do nowadays). Perhaps the biggest “restriction” to play the game was jumping from the GBA to NDS. Most of the players I knew were at that age in which you are expected to buy both the gaming system and the game all by yourself, but don’t have any clue of how to do it (LOL). IMO Sinnoh (especially Platinum) made great games, although the games released for the DS also felt like a farewell, it possibly marks the end of an era and the moment in which Pokémon was delivered in the state of the art within its franchise.
  25. Did you confirm this was an IP issue? What would happen to people that have a dynamic IP or are under a VPN? For example, my internet service is provided by company with "changing IP".
