  1. http://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=439460 This is the Nzone event Pikachu from an in-life event in New York, but Move 1 is saying "Hacked/Event Only" - is there any possibility that data could be collected on which special moves match to which event OTs and IDs, so that the checker knows whether or not the event move is compatible with the OT and ID of that particular event?
  2. The links to the tutorials on how to use the backup tools seem to lead to the wrong place, and I can't find the tutorial using a search. Can anyone help me with this?
  3. Yeah, I knew I would be wrong, but I thought I'd just give the code anyway. I thought it might give some idea as to how one would go about turning one TM into another.
  4. I thought the hex for this game always went in pairs of values? I have so much to learn. Edit: I took the liberty of searching for "D4 01 00 51 01 00 D9 01 00 5B 01 00" myself and found nothing.
  5. Could data be included in the string on whether the move was a TM or a HM?
  6. Ah, right, thanks, I must have got myself all muddled up somewhere down the line. I still don't fully understand why they didn't have the Pokémon following the trainer in B/W; I don't think that it being made in tandem by separate teams is enough of an excuse for the company not to do it, not when there was so much demand for the feature. Anyway, the point still stands - in Gen IV, the TM/HM list was listed as hex. I just did a search of a Black ROM - I'm not very good with hex so I don't know if I did it right, but I found the index numbers of Hone Claws, Dragon Claw, Psyshock and Calm Mind (the first four TMs). I converted them to hex (1D4, 151, 1D9 and 15B). I searched for string "D4 01 51 01 D9 01 5B 01", and found nothing - but like I said, I only just started working in hex and I'm still learning, so I don't know if I've done it right.
  7. It's a pain that they're set out that way, although I didn't expect it to be difficult to identify them. CrystalTile2 can identify where certain Pokémon's egg move lines start. Will this editor be capable of changing the number of egg moves, or only editing them? I can understand if it would be too tricky to add moves as it would require extra hex values, which I've heard can be tricky in certain narcs. I'm sure the community will be grateful either way, anyway. Thanks, Oxnite!
  8. I'm pretty sure that the information will be in a similar format - it's just a matter of finding the code. Black and White weren't made from scratch - they were made on the same line of production as HeartGold/SoulSilver. Looking into the Black/White ROM has revealed that lots of the parts of code inside the game aren't used by the game at all, and are simply leftover scraps from HG/SS functionality (an example of this is a piece of data for the game's method of selecting a Pokémon ID which, when used in HG/SS, works normally, but when activated artificially in Black/White it increases the chance of getting a shiny to 1 in 3/4, or something like that).
  9. I thought that getting Alomomola to breed for a Luvdisc was just a matter of telling the game that Luvdisc evolves into Alomomola; I assumed the game just worked in this way. If you want to find out more about this though, I think you should make your own thread about it. I'd certainly be interested in finding out about how to do this, or to see if anybody can make a tool for it.
  10. Unless you use some sort of adapter, as arcee suggested, there isn't any way to transfer the entire save file. However, if you're only interested in keeping your Pokémon, then you could try using some sort of fake GTS (I would recommend using the Make-A-Wish GTS, as it's the most reliable). If you don't know about these GTS systems, they're essentially servers that people have set up that exploit the GTS feature of the game, so that when you go into the GTS, instead of connecting to the Nintendo servers (and trading with everybody else connecting to the Nintendo servers), you instead connect to someone else's private server. The Make-A-Wish GTS allows you to send Pokémon to their GTS from your game, see the Pokémon you've sent displayed on the website (you can even edit their EVs etc at this stage), before connecting to the same GTS using another system to receive the Pokémon. Obviously, if you want to transfer all 4 boxes of Pokémon, then this is going to take a lot of patience, but it's a good system to use if you have valuable Pokémon that you want to transfer in particular. If you're not sure how to use the Make-A-Wish GTS, there are clear instructions on the website. If you still feel confused about it, feel free to PM me so I can give you a better explanation.
  11. I'm gonna bump this, it's something I need to work out how to do for my own hack, too. Can anybody help us out at all?
  12. I totally agree - once pixel editing becomes practical, work on Monochrome should start pretty much straight away, although the work required to come up with various Fakémon, fully design them and test them and pick out any that aren't working etc will mean that it might be quite a while after work starts that I can actually start posting on my progress here. I don't want to make this a shoddy design - I'd like to make sure that Monochrome is high-quality, with some well-designed material. That's partially why I've started work on Multichrome - it's a great way of practising an edit and getting used to the process. Having said that, Multichrome is still something I'd like to see right through to the end, even if work on Monochrome starts before Multichrome is finished. Thanks for your support, and I hope you'll input your own ideas if you have any.
  13. So, with the discovery of how to edit the palette files of 5th generation Pokémon sprites, the production of Pokémon Multichrome has begun. The completion of this version will eventually lead on to the production of Pokémon Monochrome, which will hopefully be a full edit including new, original Fakémon, but first let's get this one finished. See attached an edit that has already been made to the Feraligatr chain, as an example of what I'm looking for. Changes I plan to make (list subject to change): Type Palette Abilities Movepool Evolution method Egg group Wild encounter location Wild hold item New items/item locations What I would like is help from you guys to use your creative brains on me, to give me suggestions for the following: Type Changes Bear in mind that I'm going to try to keep the proportions as unchanged as possible - I don't want to increase the number of any one type by too much. As a general rule, if you change a Pokémon to Fire-type, choose an already existing Fire-type to have its type changed to something else. I'll update soon with a proportions list showing how many of each type there is, and any ideas for type changes are welcome. Along with the type change, please feel free to suggest new moves for the movepool to match the type, or anything else relevant to the type change, but when you're picking moves, remember to use the logic of the game - don't stick in a move that the Pokémon wouldn't be able to physically use were it in real life. Note that I'm planning on changing the types of all of the starters to made catchable elsewhere, which leads to my second point: Starters I don't intend to make any of the starters obtainable at the start of Multichrome actual starters. I want non-starter, three-chain Pokémon who have had their types changed to Grass, Fire and Water. Throw your ideas for these out there. Try to choose Pokémon whose final evolutions have total base stats of about 525-535, as these are the boundaries for third-evolution starters. The Pokémon don't have to have stats within these boundaries, just as close to them as possible, OR if the Pokémon has lower total stats but has them in strategic places, aka Speed and Attack/Sp. Attack, this is fine too. I can always change the stats if they don't quite fit the boundaries, but I don't want to do too much stat editing in this game, at the moment (although stat changing may happen at some point in the future on this). Evolution Method Alternatives It seems that with an edit like this, it would be totally feasible to trade to and from this edit as long as the other version was the same version of that edit - neither game would know anything was wrong. However, I can understand that not many people would be playing this and it would be a little silly to stop people from getting a Gengar just because nobody else they know is playing Multichrome. So Pokémon that require trading to evolve should have their evolution methods changed. On this note, I'm also open to having new evolutions added on to an already existing chain (aka Ponyta evolving into Keldeo through some method, for example). This might be helpful in allowing all the Pokémon in the national dex to be obtainable in the game, which is something I'd be interested in doing. Complete overhauls Alternatively, if you have one particular Pokémon in mind that you'd like to change, you could also do a complete overhaul on that Pokémon in particular, if you prefer. Include its new type, evolution methods, egg groups (although I don't expect many of these will change), movepools (including level-up, TM and egg) and abilities. Try to pick a Pokémon that will work well with its currently existing stats. You can make as many overhauls as you like! As of yet, this is all I need from you guys, but feel free to make any other suggestions related to the edit that you have in mind. I'm also looking for full-time project partners who are interested in working on this with me. Creative brains in gear! :] Edit: For those interested in helping, I've compiled a small, user-friendly help pack for you to use (attached). It's not totally complete but for now it has all the basic information needed at this stage. If anybody has any questions about anything, email me or add me on Windows Live Messenger using the address shiny.sheimi@live.co.uk. Help Pack is for .zip
  14. I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible, although it would probably mean exploiting the Random Matchup server which would mean you wouldn't be able to battle a person of your choosing unless they were the only person on the server.
  15. With regards to your comment above about illegitimate Pokémon not working on certain things, this isn't strictly true. An illegitimate Pokémon can be made to work on all game features, including online ones, as long as it is legal. There is no 'check-box', per se, that tells whether or not a Pokémon is hacked, and if there was, it could be hacked. It's possible to take a legitimate Pokémon and then create a new Pokémon from scratch in PokéGen that perfectly matches all of the attributes of the legit Pokémon, and of course, it would be considered totally legal by all systems. If an illegitimate Pokémon is created well enough, it can be indistinguishable from the real thing. Edit: It may also be relevant to note that even if a Pokémon isn't totally legal, it may still work on Random Matchup. I've often been successful using Pokémon in Random Matchup with Dream World abilities even if the Pokémon isn't yet obtainable in the Dream World whatsoever. Apologies if you knew all this - the terms "legal" and "legit" can easily be confused.
  16. What do I do then if I want to make a flawless Pokémon using PokéGen? As far as I know you have to use the PID finder to specify IVs - if you simply type the IVs into the boxes on the Stats tab, will the game always create a valid PID, still?
  17. The method that Abacus has demonstrated above is incredibly simple, even for an amateur, so I really don't think a tool would be necessary. The method is only for editing palettes, though, but I believe Abacus has worked out a method for editing the sprites' pixels, which I'm hoping he/she will post soon. Edit: It occurs to me that you might be talking about replacing one palette with another, but this is as simple as exporting a palette file and importing it into the place of a different palette, using CrystalTile. Although I would not recommend this as the colours for different Pokémon do not always fit one another, aka the main body colour on one Pokémon won't always correlate to the main body colour on another - it may code for something else, like the eye colour or what have you.
  18. The files for the Pokémon sprites are already organised in that way. Inside the narc, there are 20 files for each Pokémon, the first 18 being files to do with the sprite itself and then there's 2 palette files, one for shiny and one for non-shiny (the sprites themselves are not coloured sprites, rather they're indexed) and the sprites are organised in national dex entry order. The reason that they're so difficult to edit is that the animated sprite isn't what you'd expect - instead of being a series of static sprites rolling to form an animation, they're made up of pieces of "body parts" of the Pokémon on a sheet and the game instructs the pieces how to move over each other, like pieces of paper sliding over one another in layers, and obviously, this can make editing the image a little difficult. Sorry if you already knew this!
  19. Seeing great progress here. Thanks to everyone working on this, and looking forward to seeing the full explanation of how to edit the sprites. I know you've already helped me out with this, Abacus, and thank you so much, but as I explained in my message I'm having troubles with CrystalTile.
  20. It would be great if a tool was made for this. There are plenty of tools available for the editing of Pokémon and TM compatibility etc, but being able to change the move that a TM contains would be very useful for ROM cracking. Someone has written an AR code for Pokémon Black (I think) for TM44 (Rest) modification. I really don't know if this helps but I just thought I'd throw it out there. Hopefully someone can look at the hex for this code and see how it works. b2000024 00000000 94000130 fcff0000 10018cbe 0000022f d0000000 00000000 94000130 fffb0000 da000000 00018cbe d3000000 00000000 b20055d8 00000000 d7000000 00001256 d2000000 00000000 By the way, I haven't tested the code myself so I don't know 100% if it works. Edit: Just remembered I ought to explain how the code works. Apparently pressing L and R makes the number of the first item in the bag to 559 and that item should be thrown away until you have the number of the move wanted, then you press Select and TM44 will have changed to whatever the number of the move is.
  21. It's great to see there's progress being made on this, thanks guys! It's the last piece to my puzzle. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
  22. TwistedFatal has created a program specifically for editing base stats, types, wild hold items, gender ratio, abilities, base XP, egg steps, happiness and the egg groups it belongs in. It's a very useful tool. If you're editing level up moves it might also interest you to know that TwistedFatal has also created a Level Up Moves Editor and a TM/HM Compatibility Editor. Edit: Have recently been having troubles with TwistedFatal's Level Up Moves Editor where the Pokémon ends up with no level up moves whatsoever after editing.
