  1. Only 20 of them were ever distributed from what I remember, sadly the chances of finding a Tamamushi Magikarp 19 years later are almost 0 i imagine.

It's possible one of those 20 people might have dumped their save before the battery in the cart died, however the chances of them having uploaded that save and it even making it's way to English Pokemon communities are so small.

We really need someone who's active in both English and JPN speaking Pokemon Communities to look in to events like this. We'd probably have more chance of getting a JPN Mew, which as of now if anyone has i've never seen it shared, excluding the recent Virtual Console Mew of course.

  2. I finally got around to checking if I was banned or not, I appear to have got lucky so far *touch wood*

If its of help to anyone i've posted as much info as i can provide below:

    What I did / didn't do on my 3DS:

All I really do on my 3DS is play Pokemon, it was always at the back of my mind to be careful not use use Homebrew or apps like SaveDataFiler with WiFi enabled, although I know I have done that by accident once or twice in the past. If I had used Homebrew or something like SaveDataFiler offline I would always load a game before going online so the Homebrew app wasn't my most recently played title.

The majority of content installed on my console is from legit CIA's, I had never used FreeShop. Instead of dumping my own gamecarts and converting them to CIA's I simply installed the legit CIA's created from pre-installed games found on certain consoles. Any legit CIA's I've installed I also own a game cartridge of, which I have used to play online at some point.

Their is a difference between legit CIA's and user created CIA's. If you were to remove CFW installed legit CIA's would still work as normal, where as user created CIA's, or installed content from FreeShop would not.

I've had Homebrew CIA's installed and an out of region Pokemon Green that i dumped from my JPN 2DS console, I was never online when playing out of region games, although have been online and loaded homebrew apps by accident (not recently though). I also imported Pokemon from my JPN Pokemon Green though Pokebank on a PAL console, which obviously is not possible to do on a non hacked 3DS.

Sending of info via SpotPass and automatic downloads had been disabled since I got the 3DS.

What did i do with CFW on my 3DS?

All I use my 3DS for is Pokemon, I used CFW to backup my Pokemon saves, inject my Pokemon saves from an actual GameBoy in to the VC re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow, along with injecting wondercards in to GEN 6 games. In addition I have used Homebrew apps / emulators installed as CIA files and form the Homebrew launcher.

What have I done before going online again?

As per theSlayers original post I have cleaned up and locked down my 3DS up as much as possible.

The only thing i didn't do was "Use GodMode9 to clear my Activity Log" its been mentioned on other forums the local activity log is not sent to Nintendo and Nintendo is actually keeping their own logs about what you are doing online.

My router is now blocking all the Nintendo hosts I previously posted except conntest.nintendowifi.net, which breaks online functionality when blocked. (That's actually a good way to verify your blocked hostnames rules are working or not)

Everything on my 3DS homescreen is now legit. Anything that wasn't is deleted with the tickets cleaned up and the icon / home menu caches cleared. If i need to use the Homebrew launcher I plan to inject it in to the health and safety app when offline, use it, then return the health and safety app back to stock before going online again. I have pre-created files ready on my SD card to inject and remove from the Health and Safety app on the go.

I've also deleted the Luma payload from my NAND as i figured Nintendo is more likely to look for something that could have only got there with hacks, rather than the SD card which is very easy to copy files to / from.

    End result:

My 3DS boots to the Sysnand via the Luma 7.0.5 CFW (I will update to boot9strap in the future to use newer Luma versions) however the Sysnand doesn't have anything on that is not legit. If I get banned now it's likely i'm already flagged or Nintendo can actually detect CFW.

I don't really plan on going online unless I really need to though. I'm currently working on finishing my GEN 7 living Pokedex of which I have most the Pokemon I need, it's just a case of breeding / leveling them up now.

Was the PCNY Event Celebi in the old days able to be shiny? I can see some people are going to inject their old saves into the VC releases, and claim the Pokemon legit lol.

Even though it's legit on the GB games Pokebank would likely not see it as legit, similar to the GEN 1 Event Mew's we have managed to preserve. I imagine their will be a Celebi direct trade event similar to the VC Mew at some point.

Nintendo might possibly release Crystal in the future and have a WiFi event to obtain the GS Ball, or maybe even emulate the Mobile Center over WiFi, that would be pretty cool actually.

  4. Pokémon Gold and Silver will launch on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console this September, Nintendo announced.

The re-releases will be available on the Nintendo eShop on Sept. 22. Pokémon Gold and Silver were originally released for the Game Boy Color in the United States 17 years ago. The updated version of the game will be compatible with Pokémon Bank, Unfortunately, the game will not be available for the Nintendo Switch.

This does now mean it's finally possible to import Pokemon from all previous generations in to GEN 7.

  5. d0k3 over at GBATemp published a list of hostnames the 3DS uses, the two hostnames your 4chan guy posted are on that list, along with a lot more.

    Check and hosts updates:

    nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net

    Connection test:

    conntest.nintendowifi.net

    eShop specific:

    ecs.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    cp3s-auth.c.shop.nintendowifi.net

    Additional:

    cas.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    ccs.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    ccs.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    ias.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    pls.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    npul.c.app.nintendowifi.net
    cp3s.cdn.nintendowifi.net
    eou.cdn.nintendowifi.net
    npdl.cdn.nintendowifi.net

Apparently if you block all the above the following won't work:

    • Updating the 3DS FW
    • eShop, as that won't start unless it could check for an update first
    • System Data Transfer, for the same reasons
    • Anything that requires access to the update servers.

    What works:

    • Browsing the internet
    • Playing online
    • Basically, everything that is not in the 'doesn't work' list will work

Theirs certainly no proof either way blocking any of the above will stop the 3DS sending data that will get you banned back to Nintendo, however for people that are going online you could certainly let the 3DS talk to a lot less servers and still have online play functionality by the looks of it.

I saw this info and thought I would share maybe its true maybe it isn't but I figured there's no harm in letting you guys know anyway. The person who said this, said there is 6 more links. I don't know anything about all this technical stuff though lol. Anyway do with this info as you will it was shared on 4chan so it could all be bogus.

Do you have the other 6 hostnames (links)?

If you have a good router / firewall you can block devices on your network from connecting to:

    pls.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    npul.c.app.nintendowifi.net

In theory if you block all the hostnames the 3DS uses to call home you can be connected to WiFi knowing the 3DS can't send data back to Nintendo.

I block updates for the Wii U this way, my router looks for any traffic coming from my Wii U's local IP address, then if it's going to any of the hostname's ive added to the WiiUServers hostname alias, it will block the connection. The end result is I can play Mario Kart online, knowing Nintendo can't update the Wii U in the background, patching the exploits used for homebrew.

    6s9E9Yp.jpg

Even if that did work we don't truly know all the hosts Nintendo might use to gather data, even if we we're confident we did blocking them could well break online functionality anyway.

We always knew this was gonna happen eventually though... I figured this would happen eventually, but who knows what'll happen next, maybe they'll eventually stop caring. But that's just me talking out of my butt, so who knows, maybe they've gone back to their old selves again (remember, they used to be like this).

I must be honest at first i did think Nintendo would ban, however as the years have gone on Nintendo have never bothered. I have always been careful though disabling WiFi before running homebrew or user created CIA's. Even then i fully expect the activity log was sent to Nintendo the next time the 3DS went online.

It's been 3 and a half years since Gateway first released Emunand support for their flash card, since then we've had free custom firmware for well over two years now, along with more hacks and exploits than I can count.

The 3DS scene has had a good run either way. If i happen to get banned ill keep my original 3DS XL for homebrew, hacks and messing about, then save up and purchase the "New 2DS XL" when its released in July, keeping that totally legit.

  8. 1 hour ago, theSLAYER said:

Nintendo has been known to collect information, to initiate a second wave.

So turning on your switch to check if you were ban, could send over information that will hit you when the second wave comes.

That's exactly why i've not turned my WiFi on to check, if i'm banned nothing will change that.

However if i'm not and progress is made figuring out what exactly is flagging a 3DS for a ban, I can then potentially do something about it before going online again. At that point ill either find out i'm banned or got lucky.

This might well end up been like the Xbox 360, by that i mean if you have a console hacked to run unsigned code it has to stay offline. Jtag / RGH hacked Xbox 360's got banned before they even finished connecting to Xbox Live. If you wanted the best of both worlds with the Xbox 360 you had two consoles, one legit and one hacked.

Owners of Nintendo consoles have had it great for well over the last decade, the DS, Wii and Wii U to present are a free for all as far as hacks and homebrew go, you can do what you want with no consequences.

The 3DS has been a free for all until now, I dont think anyone actually expected Nintendo to care at this point, however it appears they do.

I hope its something that can be resolved in time. I would hate to think of this as the death of 3dshacking/ project pokemon events.

It shouldn't be the end of event collecting, people would have to play on a totally legit 3DS, then place the game cart in a hacked 3DS to dump the save / extract the events. The legit 3DS would be non the wiser.

Sadly it's likely a lot of people who do contribute events are banned, plus it could well make it harder if people are region spoofing to obtain certain events. Then to top it all of people would need two 3DS's to contribute an event.

I guess it's too soon to say for sure though, that's one way how i see it could work though.

I haven't played in a while.  When it launched I was really into it but it got boring after a while.  I don't care for it's, umm mechanics I guess is the word that I'll use.

What's you're favorite aspect of the game?

I guess it's a mixture of things, for me what appeals is the finding and capturing of Pokemon in the real world, knowing anyone around you could also be playing. I do like how a community has developed around the game too.

Their's a Facebook group for people playing in our town, with loads of people of all age groups playing, from teenagers to parents in their 40's playing with kids. People will share locations of rare Pokemon that have spawned, progress and swap tips and tricks. Many have never played the traditional GB / DS Pokemon games, so it's nice to see the game appeal to new people.

When the game first came out their was a Pikachu nest at a local land mark. I think the majority of people were there for Pokemon Go. I was there with a couple of friends and we got talking to a guy who was probably around our age, he was there with his Dad who must have been in his 60's, both playing Pokemon Go which i thought was nice, just shows the game appealed to people of all ages!

I love how people go crazy when a rare Pokemon appears too, I was at a family BBQ last summer and walked down to the local park with some cousins, a wild Blastoise happened to appear and people went nuts, almost everyone in that park must have gathered in the corner where the Blastoise spawned, 20-30 people were there trying to catch it, two people even pulled up in a car, said they had been looking everywhere for the Blastoice, caught it and drive off.

Those are two of my favorite memories from the game, you could say Pokemon Go is what I imagine most of us who were kids / teenagers when Red and Blue got released in the late 90's would have loved to have done back then, yet never imagined we would be doing years later.

I don't think a location based augmented reality game would catch on as much as it did if it wasn't Pokemon related, Pokemon was the perfect franchise to launch a game based on this relatively new genre.

As much as i think the game is probably the most unique / fun game in a very long time I will admit the game has become a bit stale now.

I think this because only common Pokemon ever seem to spawn, theirs loads of GEN 2 Pokemon i've never even seen or hatched, yet it seems to be the same few common Pokemon I have 100's of candy for spawning or hatching all the time. The lack of features for the first few months was fine, however i do think having no trading or breeding is a bit of an issue when the game has almost been out a year. The gym system is also becoming increasing flawed, in that it favors people who are dedicating a lot more time to the game than others who can't. The end result is my highest CP Pokemon (2800ish) is not even equal to the lowest CP Pokemon on the gyms in my local area.

Regardless of it's flaws i do still enjoy the game, i'm just not going out of my way to play it like i used to. It certainly makes my commute to work and back more interesting each day.

I hope the events like the water, grass and rock become more common as the game is certainly more fun when different Pokemon are spawning.

I know drf from another IRC. I'll see if I can get in touch with him about these saves... If I can get main files together with their data, then I should be able to extract the Vivillons.

He did say that he would look in to trying to convert the saves last time he was on GBATemp, however hasn't been online since. Keep in mind we want the main files, however not to extract the Vivillons.

The idea is anyone can inject the save and get some Scatterbug eggs, the end result is you have a unique Vivillon with the patterns(s) you desire.

@InsaneNutter you mind rehosting to a different sharer?
I'm having issues with their second download page

(Give me bunch of unstructured raw page, and the download button goes missing)

Try this link: https://insanenutter.com/content/forums/vivillon-saves.zip if the hotlink protection kicks in simply copy + paste the URL in to your address bar and it should download fine.

    Edit - Ninja'd by @thaleskpl!

  13. Background:

Essentially I have Pokemon X save games started on a 3DS from different regions / areas required to get each different Vivillon Form.

The games are saved standing in the daycare center with a male / female Scatterbug in the party, all you have to do is talk to the daycare woman, give her the two Scatterbugs, run around and get some eggs.

You can trade those back to your Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire game and hatch them. The end result is you get the Vivillon with the desired pattern, as a bonus you are also the original trainer. Perfect!

    The Problem:

All seems easy right? however the problem is these saves were created a long time ago by drfsupercenter over at GBATemp using a Gateway flashcard, The Gateway flashcard no longer works on 3DS firmware 11.3 and 11.4. It's also not currently possible to decrypt these saves without using a Gateway flashcard. My 3DS is A9LH hacked, however my sysnand is on 11.4 so i can't use the Gateway payload anymore (I own all my 3DS game legit dont worry :) any sort of console hacking just interests me).

I was wondering if anyone here still has a Gateway flashcard, 3DS it can be used on and would be willing to decrypt these saves? they could then be used on legit game cartridges or Eshop versions of the game.

I think this is something that would benefit the ProjectPokemon save section too.

If a Gateway update is ever released i'd happily do this myself and share the decrypted saves, i've been wanting to do this for a few months now, however it appears Gateway is not going to release an update any time soon, so i'm putting the idea out there.

The saves: http://www62.zippyshare.com/v/CyJYJyG8/file.html (15mb in total so cant attach).

    Conversion guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/

I take no credit for these, all we're created over time by drfsupercenter on GBATemp. He sent me the remainder of the Vivillon form saves he never posted in his thread, i've just never been able to use them unfortunately.

  14. Thank you! very unexpected, however appreciated. It's certainly great to see everyone's GEN 3 preservation efforts officially recognised, I never expected people to still be interested in GEN 3 all these years later.

A big thanks to everyone who's helped with the GEN 3 preservation effort, both directly and indirectly. I'd like to personally thank @HaxAras and @Deoxyz who have both gone above and beyond, it certainly shows what the community can do when people come together :).

I don't know why my builds trigger some anti-virus, this happened too with a different program. It might be because I use sharpdevelop and I should really switch to visual studio, but I don't have the hard disk space to properly install it (I know disk space shouldn't be a problem nowadays, but my computer has been runing for almost 8 years now and I don't really have any need for upgrade it and disk cleaning is a tedious task after that much time).

EDIT: I've just found out my antivirus (AVG) updated last week and now it also recognizes the program as malware, which is kind of anoying.

I'm sure you already do, however remember to backup! after 8 years you must have a lot of data you can't replace.

Also just to provide some feedback Sophos Antivirus now also flags it up as a trojan and Google Chrome blocks the download as malicious (this will cause problems for any site hosting a mirror) obviously a false positive, however just letting you know.

  16. If you have a shiny Pokemon you either got really lucky or put many many hours trying to obtain it. Either way you can be satisfied out of all the people who play Pokemon, few likely have the shiny you just got.

For me personally i don't go out my way to chain or reset to try obtain one. From what I gather a shiny Pokemon wouldn't be any better in battle than a Pokemon you just randomly caught, however i'm not that in to the battling side of Pokemon, more the collecting, so someone might well tell me different.

From a collecting point of view its pretty nice as the chances of you finding one are certainly against you, even if it is a lot easier in Gen 6.

Mirror of InsaneNutter's thread (I'll dig through it to see if any other saves were contributed)

    .

All credit to Gold Ursaring, all i did was trade the GEN 1 Mew found years later over to GEN 2, other than that the save is untouched from Gold Ursaring's original upload.

That was the only save i ever found with GEN 2 events, although it always surprises me what has turned up all these years later for the early generations.

Also, @InsaneNutter, any news on the gc/Wii dol file tests of the mb file?

    @suloku @St. GIGA

I couldn't get any of the dol's to work, the GBA will download the multiboot file then just crash to a white screen.

The Wii states to press A once you have a GBA game inserted, I can press A on the sample0519_bin however nothing happens after that, the Wii just says it's waiting for the GBA game.

client_bin and client.2003_1112_bin would not register me pressing A on the GameCube controller only sample0519_bin seemed to.

My Setup: Wii, GBA SP, Official GC to GBA Cable and Pokemon Sapphire (EUR) with a working battery for the RTC in the GBA

Can't wait for Gen II VC. Finally, a way to send up our event Celebis (if any) to Gen VII...

Has it been confirmed we will get GEN 2 VC releases? The last i remember reading their was no plans to do this any time soon, sadly!

You probably won't be able to send original GameBoy events up, it wasn't possible with any of the Mews we have for GEN 1.

Either way i'd still love GEN 2 VC releases so i can finally transfer my squads to a modern Pokemon game.

  20. I shall certainly keep an eye on this topic.

Just to put this out there the Pokémon Journey Across America (10 ANIV Event) (Trainer ID: 00010) is an event we're very close to having one of each Pokemon untouched for.

If anyone's checking their old saves / archives have a look for a Blastoise, Zapdos and Dragonite from this event, as that's all we need to have one of each untouched. We do have these Pokemon, however just not in their distributed state.
