claudiaxx Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Thank you for the update. I've made it through the events after Apple Wood and safely made it to the expedition departure. However, I'd like to report that there is a bug in the event at the expedition departure that causes the game to freeze and become unplayable... alpha3.02.savFetching info...
jmt0781 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 When 4.0 comes, how would I replace my current patch with the new one for mobile (Android).

Expand 4.0 will come out in many many years from today so don't worry about it for now xD But to update from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 for example, repatch a vanilla Sky Rom and give the resulting patched Alpha rom the exact same name as your old Alpha 3.0.1 rom Edited March 6 by Balthazar
Balthazar Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Man, imagine this with Lonely Roads story and NPC interactions. Alpha's gameplay refinements are beautiful; but I'm just a tiny bit sad I'm skipping half the game, not talking to NPCs, not doing anything but prepping for dungeon mode instead of immersing myself in a cool universe like I used to... We can't have everything of course. I'm happy with what was offered to us. But I dream of a collab between Okami and Alphadaemon

I don't have the skillset required not the time to do that myself since I'm working on the game alone. That's something I'd like to do with Alpha 4.0 but it would depend on people proposing a custom version with reworked dialogues to me.

It's possible before 3.0's launch writers and story modders weren't aware of the full potential of your hack (I was about to say your engine). I'm sure many writers would love to combine their engaging story with your engaging gameplay, and Lonely Roads is also a good fit because I heard that no postgame is planned for it - perfect for Alpha's to take over there! Maybe people would listen now. I'd ping known modders and influent story fans like PMD Gang to see if modders would be open to adapt their hack to yours or to make posts calling for writers. I'd be wary of entrusting this to an inexperienced writer-modder only capable of rewriting dialogues without extras around exposition and cutscenes considering the technical level of hacking you achieved.

Expand Personally I'd prefer this hack to keep the original game's story intact. Can't speak for everyone, but the appeal for me is to be able to replay the game with some more challenge, not to "fix" the usual gripes like Apple Woods or whatever. To reiterate, additions or expansions are fine. For example, injecting some life into the game beyond the postgame story could be great. If it's a rewrite however, I don't exactly trust most writers to do a better job. Edited March 8 by RRad

Expand Yeah most full rewrites I've seen were, um, uncanny or puerile at best… To me Lonely Roads got it right with its NPCs' completed backstories and progression throughout the main story. I wouldn't mind it myself but I agree many wouldn't like Alpha to absorb the entirety of its edited story, and I'm not even talking of its fully original special episodes, as cool as they are! We'll see what the future holds. Honestly I'm surprised that Alphadaemon is even open to part of the idea considering the usual gameplay wizards' devout fidelity to original stories.
LostAlchemy Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I was running 3.0.1 and just recently hit the Post-Apple-Woods softlock (With Spinda's Cafe). Unfortunately, I didn't heed the bad signs when the UI began to glitch out at the beginning of the day, and as such I returned to the bedroom to save and reload the game. (This fixed the UI error by bringing up the pointer). I think I have softlocked my save due to this. Even patching using the new, Alpha 302_rev1 xDelta file is not providing a workaround, I believe I might've bricked my save. Attached is my save. Is there a way for me to directly fix it? NashJR Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I activated Recruit 'em all at the beginning of my 3.0.2 playthrough and the Q&A board says I should've gotten a "Holy Lyre" but I never did. Otherwise, it's fun so far
Balthazar Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Btw does the Holy Lyre bypass the impossibility to recruit two of the same mons twice in REA challenge? (For shinies and regional variants). Or only Premier Gift and Camaraderie can? QoL request: would be cool if shinies could have a star appended to their name, and regional variants indicate their region in name like writing Vulpix-A. Reason I'd like that is because there's no way I'll recognize shinies in 4.0's expanded roster.
Alphadaemon Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Update 3.0.3 is out: Fixed Randomizer toggles being locked despite Randomizer options being enabled Fixed the Inspector Mode, if it still doesn't work provide a clear chain of instructions to reproduce the bug and report it to me Speedrun mode bag is now giving Goggle Specs and X-Ray Specs instead of Space Globes Alpha Q&A now describes Reccruit 'em all correctly. Marowak's event now appears properly Fixed Shaymin recruitment event being available earlier Added Cutscene Skips for Spinda Café cutscenes and fixed existing Cutscene Skips Added a check for Origin forms, Primal forms and Mega-Diancie that prevents them to explore with an ally Fixed Origin and Primal forms altering Weather conditions permanently Flare Blitz now thaws frozen targets correctly Recoil moves now take in account Magic Guard Imposter and Illusion now work properly in Fixed Rooms ... and many more, I took all the feedback I gathered in the past few days haha

ogmechsftw Posted March 10 Posted March 10 This is the most excited I've been all year. Thanks so much for painstakingly making this game, starting it now!
ogmechsftw Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Question - I randomized starters and ended up with the Shiny Eternatus as my partner, with a body size of 5. My character is a Metang, body size 1. I tried to do an escorts mission with a Spinarak client, but the total body size was too large and the mission failed. With forced escort story dungeon such as the expedition with Bidoof on the way, will I be able to continue with this save file? Or should I just start a new run and avoid picking large pokemon?

And I definitely won't have this feel if I don't even know I'm looking at a shiny or regional variant lol. Especially with the numerous changed sprite colors that can be confusing.
Kung-Fu Cut Man Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I've noticed the L-menu toggle for Non-Vanilla types isn't affecting Vibrava and Flygon. Trapinch gains/loses it's Bug typing depending on the setting, but both Vibrava and Flygon are always Bug/Dragon. I haven't noticed this happening to any of the other pokemon with changed types so far. If it helps for troubleshooting, I'm using MelonDS on Windows and my EoS rom is patched with the latest Alpha 3.0.3 patch. My save was originally started on the first 3.0 release, though I've been keeping up with new versions of the patch as they've been released.
LostAlchemy Posted March 10 Posted March 10 3.3 appears to have fixed the Project P crash bug. That's good! However, I have another weird bug/potential occurrence to report. Drinking stuff at the cafe sometimes plays the 'found information on a new exploration spot' text, but no dungeon is unlocked. Is this flag just not hooked up correctly, or are the areas that would have been unlocked this way unlocked elsewhere? I got the message once pre-project P (drinking the starter gummis), and once afterwards, yet recieved no new areas from either.

I think the game tells you directly upon selecting that random starters WILL have bugs and that's on you if that happens. Expand Sprite colors don't make Shiny forms confusing. They are easily distinguishable from base forms and if they aren't for specific cases (Gengar maybe in the future), the Shiny color will be changed to distinguish it from base form.
PandaTrash Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) Hey, this is such a great rom hack! I am trying to evolve my starters but I think I may have glitched the game. I tried doing duguegons after sky peak but I can't seem to evolve at all. I'm playing on twilight menu but I can send you my save file if needed. Edited March 10 by PandaTrash
jmt0781 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Do the starters learn any good moves that take advantage of their higher Attack/Special Attack? Like, does Mudkip learn any physical water type moves?
