HG/SS Character Modifier Values COMPLETED

These values also may be used to modify your Multiplayer Avatar for the Union Room and Wi-Fi. The sprite change will only occur between two Copies of either Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Details on this can be found in the Third Spoiler.

Progress:

  Reveal hidden contents

As I did with Pokemon Platinum, I've taken the liberty of deriving a list of values to be used to modify your character sprite to that of another sprite in the game. The following code was created by the hackers on GBAtemp, whom I thank alot for their hard work. The code will work like this:

Due to the lack of a calculator in the game, the alteration of the code is neccessary to change you character. Also note using multiple character altering codes at the same time has a high potential of crashing your game, so please refrain from attempting it.

Here is the code:

First start by finding the desired value that you want. All you have to do is replace the Red X's with any of the following values and presto. You have yourself the desired sprite.

It should be known, however, that although the walking animations for each sprites work perfectly fine, the only sprites capable of having a working running animations are the Hero Sprites for Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver.

Values 000~00F:

Values 200~244***:

  Reveal hidden contents

It depends. I know for a fact that if you try and run in the Union Room as your selected Multiplayer Avatar, your game freezes. For Avatars like the Sinnoh Gym Leaders and Riley, Buck, Mira, Cheryl, and Marley, they all appear on Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Games. For the other ones, however (Cynthia, the Kanto Leaders, etc.), it crashes the game. And yes. I tested Cynthia and it crashes when you enter.

Oh wait. I totally missed the point of the question.

Your sprite outside of battle will appear as the selected sprite choice, but in battle it will be your normal character battle sprite. (It'll be the HG/SS Male Hero if that's what you started the game as, etc.)

thr first answer was what i was talking about, also. it seem to freeze the other person no matter what, we both had HGSS and first i tried suicune, then next i tried silver. both times it froze his game.

Ya. Some values, especially those of the Pokemon themselves, freeze the other person's game. Most of the people values (As far as I can tell) work fine though. I'm hoping I can test this out on Wifi soon though.

I tried the hero team rocket. It works great, but the only problem is that when you try to use your bike, it goes back to normal, and when you get off your bike again, you stay normal.

Ya. I'm working on that at the moment. Just enter a building and you'll change back.

That's what I'm looking in to right now. I'm fairly certain that, since the in-battle sprites DO exist in the game data, then you more than likely should be able to change your sprite to one of their's. I'm having a few other people help me on that as we speak.

Here's an alternative...are you ready? Don't use Smogon tiers and agree to the rules of the battle before hand. Rather than complain that is. The people at Smogon do hard work to keep the site running and under control, do not belittle their work simply because you don't agree with their tiers for whatever reason. They have done thousands of battles and run thousands of tests. They probably know what their doing, I'm guessing.

More than 500 is make games will crash!

You can't use just whole numbers, values have to be in HEX format. You can add and subtract hexes with Windows calculator. I did so to get the value for Flaaffy's sprite as well as Togetic and others.

hi im new.

im wondering if the code for play as red is for the union room or outside the union room cause i used the code and ive walked in and out and in and out of buildings and nothing. so if there is a button i need to press or if its only in the union room could you let me know please? thanks!

Sorry for bumping an old topic. However, I am trying to get some sprites to work, specifically Arcade Star Dahlia and Cheryl. I am adding the codes correctly but when I load them up it doesn't seem to work, I end up as my original hero character. Do you think me playing on a 3DS affects it? I'm playing Soul Silver.
