english09 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Does PKHeX check for the legality of Gen III->IV Pal Park trash bytes? I understand there's different trash bytes assigned based on which Gen IV game the Pokemon is transferred to (DP, Pt, or HGSS) and the language of that Gen IV game.
Kaphotics Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 No It's worth mentioning that PKHeX does apply valid trash bytes for these transfers, however, transferring to the 3ds era wipes them. So there's no use checking them in the context of the current generation.

I assume its safe to move from gen 3 to 5 using pkhex then put through poke transporter, as the trash bytes that would have been there would be wiped anyway?

I mean, he did literally say Quote PKHeX does apply valid trash bytes for these transfers (context: Gen 3 -> Gen 4) and Quote transferring to the 3ds era wipes them. I don't think there is other ways to interpret something so plainly stated? Anyhow, while I'm pretty sure we don't mind answering questions, it can be tad overwhelming to be asked again and again about core mechanics that is either plainly stated, documented on the net (bulbapedia is your friend, or even just google it), or something you could test for yourself. Anyhow, locking this thread.
