Sharpie Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Is it possible to hatch Shiny Manaphy from an egg recieved from a Pokemon Ranger game? I hear some where: "It is possible to hatch a shiny Manaphy, but only under certain circumstances. Once you recieve the Manaphy egg from Pokemon Ranger, you can trade it to a different Pokemon game, and then the chances of it hatching shiny increase." Is this true?
DanteKoriyu Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Yes. "Gamefreak fails". http://projectpokemon.org/games/mechanics/shinyprevention.php
Toffeuy Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Yeah... the Shiny/PID check wasn't performed in this event from Pokemon Ranger.
Clear Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Yes, Manaphy Egg is treated as a Method 1 Pokemon. If you RNG the shiny PID for Game B in Game A, and then you traded it to game B, it will hatch shiny (the animation will still be normal, however, but the result will still be shiny.)
Wichu Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Yeah... the Shiny/PID check wasn't performed in this event from Pokemon Ranger. Uh... The shiny check is exactly the same. The problem is that it's only checked when you receive it, not when it hatches. Since shininess partially depends on the trainer ID, this means you can trade it to another game before hatching it, and it will have the standard 1/8192 chance of being shiny (unless you RNG or cheat).

No check happens when you receive it. They knew you could trade it anyways. The check happens when it hatches. However, the check happens before the trainer data of the person who received it is over written with that of the person hatcing it. That means, if it wasn't going to be shiny for the original trainer, there is a chance it will be for the person hatching it.
d4rk_13l1t2er Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 IIRC they might be hatched shiny if they were traded to other trainer (not the original trainer who received it from Ranger).. Unfortunately i kinda forgot where i read bout that before ..

d4rk_13l1t2er Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Huh.. Ok i wonder how can i missed the 2nd part of the 1st post, must be too tired i guess .. Either way, i'm sorry, my bad..
Sharpie Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 So, can you RNG Abuse the Manaphy egg on the game that originally recieved the Manaphy egg?
DanteKoriyu Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 You can abuse the RNG, but it will NEVER hatch shiny within the same game it was received in, because the check when it hatches will change the PID to one that results in a nonshiny Manaphy. Then you would have wasted all that time and effort. You HAVE to trade the egg to get a shiny, but you can abuse the RNG in the game you got it in to provide a PID that will result in a shiny in the game you are trading to.
Vliegtuig Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 You can also, RNG it on your own game (with a shiny spread), trade it to someone, doesn't matter who. Trade it back to your game. And then you can get it shiny too.

Sabresite Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 He means make it shiny, trade it to someone else, then trade it back to yourself.
SCV Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 He means make it shiny, trade it to someone else, then trade it back to yourself. That's still ambiguous. If you make it shiny for yourself, and trade it when it hatches the Anti-Shiny code still activates since it checks the information of the person who received the egg and not the one who hatches it. So it must be shiny for the other person, also with this there's 1 chance to do it legitimately since once you trade the egg the game is saved and you can't get another one right away.
