Fallen Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 After 48 hours, it's mine for keeps I named her Salt. Ok, trying to find more shinies. I'll be right back! Have you turned into a shiny hunter?
Illithian Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Sigh, sadly I failed. All the time you think you have it, you don't. Seriously. The chain ended at a whopping 56. I haven't broken a chain in a while, I end all my chains intentionally. I'm horrible at explaining things, but remember to reset the radar a ton. Why was your chain broken? By the way, an easy way for beginners to learn chaining is to use an infinite battery code for the pokeradar, and an infinite repel code to go with it.
wraith89 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Have you turned into a shiny hunter? Yes I have. If you want my shiny Ralts, I can give you one too. And how do you chain? I'm no good with that :-/ I wish I could though. I want to find that bizarre patch of grass everyone's been talking about.
PaDdY! Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 my first shiny (apart from red gyarados) wasa weedle in viridian forest!
Mewtwo Ex Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I can't get over 12 i start rampaging with LV.100 in the game.

Thanks, I'll do just that. I was chaining for Ponyta and a Kriketune pops out of nowhere. Just a question, but if you use a Pokéradar and encounter Mesprit or Cresselia or one of the three birds, could you continue a chain with them if you faint them?
Victor_Alchemist Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I caugth a shiny magicarp, then I evolved it and now a have a legit Red Garyados

I'm almost positive that you cannot chain cresselia or mesprit because they are one-time pokemon, and do not "naturally" appear in the grass. In fact, I don't know if you could even find them with the pokeradar.

Oh hey, reverse shiny Cresselia is Blue/Purple pallette =D
That Pokemon Guy Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I have a shiny Cresselia, only cause I had the "All Shiny Pokémon" code active when I encountered it. But my first legit shiny pokémon was Machop.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 How are we supposed to soft reset for a shiny Cresselia if it runs away? Same for the three birds, and Mesprit.
Aarux Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 ... By SRing and hunting it down to see if it's shiny? And you SR if it's not, then repeat the process. Time-consuming, but worth it, I guess.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 It takes long enough to reset for a Pokémon that stays in place, and you're saying we have to go through that to get it shiny? That's terrible.
randomspot555 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 How are we supposed to soft reset for a shiny Cresselia if it runs away? Same for the three birds, and Mesprit. You pretty much don't. Roaming Pokemon are set once they start running, as far as nature and all that goes. Cress is slightly easier since it's just one; but soft resetting for shiny bird trio or regi trio or lake trio would be INSANE.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 So then why bother making these roaming Pokémon shiny? It's nearly impossible!
That Pokemon Guy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 The Shiny pokémon code makes them shiny. Use it.
FLOOTENKERP Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If you have to cheat to get them shiny, you don't get the sense of accomplishment. I have never caught one legitimate shiny, yet I own tons of them, and I don't like them because I made them, not found them.
Aarux Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If you were extremely persistent and really wanted the Poke that badly, you might try it. I know I wouldn't. I'd just use AR.
Milo Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I have a friend with a legit shiny cresselia. amazing IVs on it as well. I can't remember the exact numbers, but it was good. Only problem was it had a timid nature or something of the sort. still not bad though.
Illithian Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If you were extremely persistent and really wanted the Poke that badly, you might try it.I know I wouldn't. I'd just use AR. Using an AR on games totally destroys any point in playing them. Theres a reason people don't like cheating. Yeah, I could spend about a minute in my calculator finding myself a chained shiny PID, put it into a pokemon, and click go. Instead, I spend 20 minutes getting a chain to 40, then spend 3-5ish minutes finding myself a shiny.
Aarux Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 People might not like it, but you still see people doing it, don't you? I don't hunt for shiny Pokemon, anyway. The only ones I have are random encounter ones.

The only ones I have are random encounter ones. Well, using an AR to speed things up doesn't count. Thats not ruining a game, thats preventing it from wasting your time and getting boring and repetitive. When you use an AR to skip the entire game, then you might aswell just use a simulator...
Aarux Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I wait till I get through the game before I use AR. I'm an impatient person... so, yeah, I use AR to find some shiny Poke. I released all those, though. Stupid New Year's resolution. Oh, yeah, is getting a shiny off Coliseum or completely random? Or can you reset to get one? I got a shiny Entei off mine, so I was wondering if I could get some more.
ShadowLugia Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 First shiny without cheat device.... Shiny wailmer in pokemon ruby , but my ruby file got corrupted >_> I saw a shiny wingull on ruby on the same save file about the next day..but i couldn't catch it You can get shinies on o_o?
