codemonkey85 Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 The resolution of the screen is 256 × 192. Surely by now, the location in the ROM of those images have been found. I'll look in a bit. Poryhack had found the wallpapers for me from one of the previous games. Maybe if he's available we could ask him for his thoughts on the BW / 2 locations.
evandixon Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Looked in the ROM section and found a list of all the locations. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?24589-B2W2-General-ROM-Info I'll look in /a/1/1/7 in just a bit and tell you what I find. [Edit] My first reaction is that I don't know which of the many tools I need. I'll try again later when I have more time.
evandixon Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Those are slightly higher resolution than Bulbapedia's. I'm sure codemonkey85 will appreciate that.
codemonkey85 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 I ended up stealing the ones from Bulbapedia because ripping them from the ROM was too much work. Plus the Bulbapedia shots were (probably) ripped straight from the games anyway, and they included the transparency. But thanks KazoWAR! After a little batch cropping, I now have the wallpapers and banners separated, so yay!
codemonkey85 Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Let it never be stated that I don't like Linux folks. It's far from ready for prime time, but it's a good start I think. SIDE NOTE: dealing with Unicode that works in a cross-platform way is unfortunately very annoying. Edited September 16, 2013 by codemonkey85
Poryhack Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I'm sure this was unintentional/unnoticed, but the windows azure ad in the background is quite ironic for this post. Glad you're up and running on Ubuntu though!
codemonkey85 Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Major thanks to Nicholas Corgan (https://github.com/ncorgan) for contributing directly to this project, making it more portable, and perhaps most excitingly more compatible with Linux! Work has yet to be done to get the Qt project working properly, but things are very exciting right now for the community of Pokémon hacking / open source overlappers! There seems to be a slight bug in displaying / accessing Pokémon in specific box slots in the box viewer, but once I sort that out it's time to fill out the other tabs in the Pokémon viewer and get some more editing opened up! I'm sure this was unintentional/unnoticed, but the windows azure ad in the background is quite ironic for this post. Glad you're up and running on Ubuntu though! It was unintentional, but hilarious!
LEGOanimal22 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I have to say, this looks like a pretty neat program.
theSLAYER Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 This... looks heavenly.. Brilliant.. My only issue (I'm sure it is only me).. too.. many.. windows.. appearing. >< Good job EDIT: Sheer random thought: Since you've included the box's background image, maybe you can include an option to change box wallpaper? (i know there are programs that can do that, put I thought it will be interested ><) Curiosity: are you going to have a "features suggestion" thread?
evandixon Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Curiosity: are you going to have a "features suggestion" thread? Unless it gets out of hand, this thread is fine.
codemonkey85 Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Just FYI: I do plan to allow box editing, including names and wallpapers. I just hadn't gotten there yet. As far as too many windows is concerned, it's being done this way mostly because I want the box UI and the Pokémon UI to be separate, for the sake of anyone who might use one but not the other. Keeping things modular and flexible is part of my goal. (As a reminder, the editor is not the endgame; the library is.) I wasn't even thinking about a feature suggestion thread, but I suppose evandixon is right. Actually, I might make a Google Form or something for suggestions. I'll think it over.
codemonkey85 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Got some new pics, boys and girls! IV / EV editing is now a go!
LEGOanimal22 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 This is going to be much better than your last sav editor
codemonkey85 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 That's the idea. Iterate and improve!
codemonkey85 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Haven't quite figured out the best deployment scenario, but ncorgan has some ideas about that so stay tuned! Then again, you should be able to download the Qt runtime and run it. Maybe I'll try to compile it and post the .exe on GitHub too.
LEGOanimal22 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Wait a second, why do you have Pokemon name AND National Pokedex Number?
codemonkey85 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Why not? I have to display both anyway.
codemonkey85 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Somewhat minor, but you can now toggle the Pokémon markings (circle, heart, etc.) by clicking on them. Sweet! EDIT: Have any suggestions? Let me know in this collaborative document! Edited August 8, 2013 by codemonkey85
codemonkey85 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 There has been a slight hold on the Qt application's development while I've been trying to re-work how SQLite data is handled, to make it more robust. I will also be reworking the way SAV data is handled to support more SAV file types. Stay tuned folks!
codemonkey85 Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 After some restructuring of the library, I have now made it possible to develop applications using Visual C++/CLI: While I have enjoyed learning Qt thus far, deployment is a bit of an issue. But now, I can develop and deploy an application using Visual Studio. This means: for those of you using Windows, this is going to get to you much quicker. For those of you using Linux... well, just grab Qt and compile it yourself. :-P I'll likely rename this thread to coincide with the now near-parallel development of my Windows-specific application and my cross-platform application.
isnorden Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Looks like the perfect hacking tool for "breeding experiment" players, especially if (like me) they have little or no coding knowledge. Just two requests, please-- Could you upload a ZIP file of the latest working copy, please? Would you consider adding a pgf Wonder Card creator, please? I play B2/W2 using the latest DeSmuME for Windows; however, my computer (a 6-year-old desktop) is not equipped for Wi-Fi. Being able to save and share favorite Pokémon through Wonder Cards would help other players with similar problems.
