Project Pokémon's New Mascot Poll

As the new site is integrating itself, we have decided to hold a public poll for the members of the community to decide who Project Pokémon's new mascot Pokémon will be. This Pokémon will serve as a symbol to the site, on userbars and site logos. The Pokémon to choose from are: Dragonite, Suicune, Dialga, Latios, and Deoxys. The poll will run for a week and will be tallied on Sunday night.

First off, SCV is the de-facto head of PP.org, or at least it felt like that for a very long period of time, and never ever switched from his Suicune avatar. And who doesn't like SCV?
SCV = PP.org = Suicune. Thus you shall vote Suicune if you know your community.

Project Pokémon is meant to be a community site though... I don't think SCV would want to be projected as the "head" of the site. But I'm just spitballin' here....

Interesting argument. To add to that, there's the fact that Project Pokémon is not just a hacking site, but also (eventually!) a site for anime reviews, game info, etc; kind of similar to how Deoxys can change forms. Deoxys also, to me anyway, represents a sort of science aspect that I believe is representative of our goals to be unified and logical in our development efforts and so forth.

I think I'm going with Deoxys on this one too.

I would choose either Latios or Suicune, they both look cool and are useful in battle, but the thing is there aren't much artworks of Latios, so it's very hard to find a good artwork of Latios apart from the Sugimori art, while Suicune has plenty of nice artworks. So I choose Suicune

But Dragonite is still awesome. Why not Tyranitar? It's Johto's Dragonite. Because the site has changed, think of Tyranitar as updated Dragonite. Since HG/SS are out in Japan and coming soon to the US Tyranitar could be a good choice too considering, well, HG/SS takes place in Jotho. If you really do not want to add Tyranitar, I shall stick with Dragonite. ~STBE

I voted Dragonite. Suicune is very well liked but I like Dragonite a lot more. Gen I pokes should be recognized as well as Gen II, III, and IV. Maybe one poke from all for Generations should be in. just a suggestion. Anyways, I voted Dragonite.

Suicune does not really have anything to offer as far as symbolism, neither does Dragonite. Representation of the first gen, choosing someone who is underrated or what avatar an admin uses, should have nothing to do with the mascot. We should pick whoever represents our ideals and goals the best. That is, to cover the details (DNA) of how things work in the game as well as make available many or all Forms of Pokémon information. Deoxys would be a very flexible mascot in that we can use the different forms to represent different areas of the community. Or different topics that we cover. For these reasons, I encourage everyone to change their vote to Deoxys.

To be honest I chose Dragonite because I just didn't see any other Pokemon in the Poll list eligible to be a mascot, now I know this sounds weird but Dragonite, IN MY OPINION should be the mascot because it fits him better than the rest.

I don't think I'm really changing my vote just because you tell me to... that sounds like conformity and you do not really need to cast a vote at all since you are pre-meditating who the real mascot should be. So is there really any point to this poll anymore? I don't know... it looked more like a "vote for your favorite poke" poll before... now it's "EVERYONE VOTE FOR DEOXYS BECAUSE I SAY SO"... which defeats the whole purpose of having this poll.

And Dragonite is a good mascot in my opinion... I don't know why... but I suppose I cannot really let go of Newsbot's Dragonite avatar. But then again, that's highly subjective. Since we already know Deoxys is going to be the mascot... mhh, why bother?

I will agree with the reasoning though for the support for Deoxys... but it's just the "change vote into Deoxys because I say so" aspect that bothers me.

Wraith, my post wasn't a 'change your vote cause I say so', it was to try to convince. Of course, not everyone is going to be convinced and that's fine. The point is to see IF we should pick the mascot based on reasoning or other things. But reasoning can't win if we don't give it. Should I change the tone in my post?

EDIT: Actually, I said at the beginning that it was putting some support for voting for Deoxys. Not an order. Support = reasons which you might or not agree with and you might or not listen to and you might or not act upon.

Yes I think Suicune is awesome and has been one of my favorite pokemon since gen2 (the others being lugia and houndoom) but after seen the reasoning that you guys gave I changed the way I wanted to vote. If we were going to place rules on how to decide to vote there would be no point in having the poll (as wraith said).

Reasoning for stuff... I suppose DRAGONITE is a news delivery thing as seen in the first Pokemon Movie... but then again, the mascot might as well be Pelipper if we were here to bring all sorts of news. DEOXYS however shows how we research a Pokemon's data... hmm, sounds just like us. I haven't changed my vote yet but I am still contemplating.

I recommend Dragonite to those who have not voted yet. It has been seen delivering news, Pokémon: The First Movie, and that is part of what we do. Deoxys, while it may seem logical, could be used for ANY Pokémon fan site. You say Deoxys can represent different aspects of the site. Well, as an example, any other site could use Normal forme for the main page and Attack forme for their forums, etc. You also say Deoxys because it can "morph" it's DNA like what we do sorta do around here. Acually, in technical terms, ANY Pokémon can change their DNA if they are able to evolve. With saying all this, Deoxys isn't as useful as you'd think. We might as well have Castform as a mascot. Also, on a side note, do NOT let moderators, admins, etc. scare you in to voting for Deoxys. You have the full right to vote for whoever you want. ~STBE

It doesn't change it's D.N.A. nothing that is living can do that. And they alter it by changing form. Give me an example that something ever changed it's D.N.A.

Mewtwo would be good if we were just about making pkm. Mewtwo was made by generic engineering, but he can't actually change anything. He was just made. Just as some people just make pkm. Project Pokémon is a broader concept.

i don't think that's quite accurate. Unless almost all means more than half of the staff. 7/12 of the staff that has voted has voted for Deoxys, To me that's not almost all. Some, don't agree and have not voted for it, including half the admins and half the Super moderators.

If the moderators wanted Deoxys as the mascot. Don't you think this thread would not exist? Its pointless if that was the case. The staff is not forcing anyone to vote for something they are unwilling to vote for. It is entirely made up of the choice of the voters themselves.

Anyways...truth be told...I vote for Suicune. I personally prefer Suicune over both. Come on Suicune...I know you can do it...
