Oh, right. So we COULD make ROMs for Channel Jirachi, Ageto Celebi and Colosseum Pikachu.

My assumption is MBs sent from GCN discs just work a bit different compared to those from a GBA, at least due to the way they made them.

I didn't think so for Ageto Celebi, as I explained previously, but I'm just basing that off unclear memory, and I assume @St. GIGA knows what he's talking about. I actually know nothing about how Colosseum Pikachu is distributed, but I assumed it was also generated in the GCN game, then can trade it to the GBA later.

I'm wondering now if other gamecupe pokemon games have something like that?

Only thing I know of is the US Demo Discs that have BGF Zigzagoon, but that's actually how the GBA rom used in Europe was officially made, hence the UI text referring to the GameCube. So no point in that. But actually, Japan had their own disc too, so if someone has the iso somewhere(I don't think so), we could extract the MB. However, this can also be recreated by editing the English Zigzagoon MB, as it uses the same generation method. Actually it's very easy to edit BGF Zigzagoon(unlike the other roms due to checksums), except a few traits that have been troublesome to record, such as origin region. Because otherwise, you'd be sending a Zigzagoon to a Japanese game, but PKHeX will still show it as ENG instead of JPN, therefore illegal. In the end though, I'd prefer recreating roms with original MBs where possible, only modifying MBs as last resort.

Edit: I've also been told the PCNY events were distributed via GameCube discs as well, but you can place those in the category of the GBA distro roms that aren't known to have leaked from Nintendo, eg. the US 10 ANIVs.

I just found a video of Channel Jirachi and it's not a multiboot.

I just looked one up, and tbh, it seems like a multiboot working on the GBA side, just with a unique visual cutscene or whatever. I wouldn't say either way yet for sure, but it's odd compared to other MBs if it is. Iirc, with Ageto it's generated on the GCN, then traded over to the GBA like just any other purified pokemon, so it's at least not the exact same with CHANNEL.

Ageto Celebii and Channel Jirachi are different because they're generated on the Game Cube. I'm not sure 100% about Channel though since I'm not that familiar with it, someone else will have to confirm it.

Just found the mention in some old posts, the pokedownload.tgc equivalent for CHANNEL Jirachi is called pokechan.bin

Assuming it does contain a multiboot, I'd love to have the file sent my way if anyone has it. Can't find it on google yet, and I currently don't even really know how to unpack an iso to extract it.

Oh I just remembered something. Did you guys grab the CHANNEL Jirachi multiboot from PAL Channel?

OH! I think I have Channel's equivalent of pokedownload.tgc(different name) somewhere, not sure. That's definitely one we should do.

Edit: Nevermind, I think I was just remembering it being mentioned in a discussion once...  Though, I don't know much about CHANNEL Jirachi. It did send via multiboot, right? Or wasn't it more like Ageto Celebi?

So what's the difference between what was build and what Purin has?

Many thanks for rebuilding these ROMs! Why were these files on the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus disc anyways? Are there similar files on the Japan Pokemon Colosseum Bonus disc?

What programs are you guys using to analyze these files?

    Thanks.

    1) The multiboot that gets sent to the receiving GBA is identical. Only likely difference is the distro rom having the UI/Master that was used from Shiny Zigzagoon, but we don't know for sure what the original looks like. It's up to Purin whether or not he wants to share details.

    2) Probably left over from beta testing. Started with copying Negaiboshi, made METEOR, but finalized with WISHMKR. Leftover files from beta testing isn't new, eg if you remember the debug Bulbasaur and Shiny Litwick from some of the Gen V roms. Japanese Colosseum Bonus disc doesn't have any multiboots, iirc, it just enables an in-game event for Celebi to join your party, iirc.

Yeah, hopefully the collectors who aren't willing to share the full distro ROMs will AT LEAST be willing to share the multiboots.

I honestly don't think it would hurt them or any of their concerns, be it the value of the original they hold, and/or promises with Ninty empoyees not to share, etc. No need for paranoia, as it's not the full original rom, rather providing what is necessary to create our OWN versions.

But I respect whatever decisions our collector friends would make, we're in no position to demand.

  7. @ajxpk This totally took me by surprise. You and I were just talking about these Jirachi multiboots in private last week I think, about my dream to make a GBA version Wishmaker. I had no idea we were so close. I'm even more overjoyed that we can now generate Negaiboshis too! I am curious though about the difference in appearance between this and the original Negaiboshi rom, as in, does it use this same generic master as BGF Zig, or rather something different. Considering this being one of the earliest events, I don't expect it to look like the 10ANNIV, etc.

This is probably the most enjoyment I've had since I dumped the 10ANNIV and Aurora rom. I think the stress of obtaining Aura Mew made it a less enjoyable experience, regardless of how happy I am to have it. Of course, us obtaining the remainder of the boxed 420 Mystery Mews was quite a unique and interesting experience.

I suppose we can't rebuild anything else for the time being without actual multiboot files. But that's basically impossible without possessing the actual roms (unless we can get our collector friends who could thoughtfully consider sharing the mbs, since they don't want to share the original roms). While hacking 10ANNIV/Aura MBs looks like it will be nearly impossible, it would be nice to theoretically recreate all it's variants that use the same algorithm/seeding, eg the 10ANNIV language variants, Doel Deoxys, etc.

  8. @suloku I've been messing around with the Jirachi seeder again lately, and I realized that it'd be really handy to have a .nds version to reset the received flag much quicker than repeatedly transferring the save between cart and PC. I figure that'd be the simplest way for anyone to consistently bypass that "one Jirachi limit". Just an idea I wanted to throw out there, if you or anyone was willing and had the free time.

What's the difference between the MYSTRY Mew and the Aura Mew?

From what I understand, the MYSTRY Mew was distributed in the USA and originated from a FireRed cartridge with around 400 preloaded Mews. In terms of the Aura Mew, was it distributed in the UK from a distribution cart similar to the 10Anniv distro carts? If so, how would I go about recreating an Aura Mew with a legal PID?

Basically Aura was Europe's only Gen 3 Mew, and MYSTRY was the US's only Gen 3 Mew. Your understanding is correct about the methods which both were distributed.

As for legal Aura Mews, depending on what you want one for, you may be interested in something to be released very soon which I can only discuss further in private. Alternatively, there are several .pk3s available.

  10. I'm quite excited that we are(likely) finally able to get a legal shiny Celebi, one of the few pokemon that can never be obtained as shiny(not counting those long stuck in Japanese Gen II saves). Though it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to force it to be non-shiny, but idk how much they'd actually care to put in the effort of patching in set IVs for the encounter. Which also makes me wonder if the GS Ball event trigger will be done by a patch, or an actual hard edit to the rom.

Another part of this that's exciting is that for the second time, like Deoxys in ORAS, another mythical pokemon will now be permanently obtainable at any time just by owning the game, without needing to wait for a distribution. I always hoped we'd get more scenarios like that. Sure some people may not like "rarity" being devalued, but I always go back thinking about myself as a kid frustrated that I couldn't get certain pokemon. Even if it's easier these days, lots of people still miss out simply by not being aware at the right time.

  11. Shiny Groudon and Kyogre are pretty random, it's not like they're shiny-locked. I don't even know what the significance of this event is, if it's not TGC.

Still hoping for more eventual distributions of shiny-locked legends. It's a bit bothersome having Shiny Tapu Koko and not the other 3, and STILL no shiny Zygarde, all being legal.

At least mythical distributions are always nice to see, especially when they haven't yet been given during the current generation.

  12. Luckily I had made a backup save at the Altar right before you play the Moon Flute. I edited and removed all personal stuff like Trainer Name, TID/SID, caught pokemon, reset received Totems/Pikachu, etc, etc. I replaced the team with a Ditto. So all that stuff can be modified to your liking if you wanted to. When I tested it the Ditto easily defeats Dawn Wings Necrozma, but not Ultra Necrozma. I also set the Ultra Warp Ride to circle pad control with PKHeX, to avoid the initial forced motion control.

  13. This is an idea I've had since last year after SM released, but I was hoping USUM would have the National Dex. Now that we know it doesn't, I've been thinking about it again.

Since your save already registers all 807 seen/caught data, a patch would mostly be text based plus dex images, so I assume it'd be fairly easy. Otherwise, you'd just need replace the "Alola Pokedex" menu option, or somehow add a separate menu option(harder).

I was thinking custom dex entries would be fun, but it'd require a lot more time and effort than just copying old entries. It'd have to be a group effort, but idk how much interest there'd be in this.

We'd also need someone with the ability/knowledge to make an ips patch, who is willing. I've never done something like this, so I wouldn't have a clue how to start doing it myself.

    UPDATE:

After 50 Soft Resets in the Pokemon League, Gladio doesnt appear. All the Trainers that challenges you in SM seems to appear, except Gladion. Guzma seems to be a new challenger.

Apparently Gladion does appear for Title Defense, though it is apparently a very rare chance. Serebii confirms Gladion is a challenger. I had also read you need to beat Lusamine in a Title Defense and win 10 rounds with Lillie as a Battle Tree partner, both before you can face Gladion. However I don't know how accurate this is, so don't quote it as fact.
