Pardon the late replies. @Soniktts I somehow missed your post before my last reply. One of the sellers I had questioned a while back about his Mew cart for sale claimed he "used to work in a position" to where he obtained items like this from various retail stores once they were done with them. He then told me he had several other Mew carts not listed that he wasn't selling yet. While that is a very easy story to bullshit, he had tons of NFR video game items listed, beyond pokemon and DS related. I felt his word was safe. Though yes, other sellers may not be legitimate. As for the carts having Celebi in the pokedex, no. Other save owners have verified that they didn't have Celebi either. I'd be more suspicious of a cart that did have Celebi, as it'd look like a fake that was made from scratch and given a complete pokedex, naturally you'd think should have Celebi. If anything, Deoxys is what you'd expect to not be there. If someone faked a save, they wouldn't "just forget" to add Celebi. I'm sure Celebi isn't there for a reason. There is also a possibility that if a cart has Celebi, someone could've just traded one for a Mew, but isn't that unlikely? Also perhaps a post-distribution private owner added a Celebi to complete the dex? Bottom line, a save shouldn't naturally have a Celebi, for whatever reason. @Soniktts We can't prove for a fact that a good majority of Mew carts for sale are "scams". Also, the fact that some people are making huge profit from doing basically nothing has been something at the front of my mind on the subject of making the save public. I also figured a public save would hopefully devalue the save their scam method. Though, the thing is we can't guarantee how many people, buyers and sellers, will be aware or able to find the save file if it is posted here. It may not help much to devalue in that case. It's hard to say. Worst case scenario, it doesn't devalue, and some people see it here and decide to go make hundreds of bucks themselves with it. At the same time, what about the people that paid hundreds of dollars for a legit cartridge? Is a devaluation from a public save fair to them? I'm sure some wouldn't be pleased by the idea. There's all risky potentials involved if we were to do this, but of course I'd just love to be done with it and help preserve history by making it public. I would've done so months ago if I thought it wouldn't potentially cause a big negativity.

It may happen occasionally, but it doesn't look like it's often. I've easily verified several carts when I see one pop up on eBay by asking the seller questions. At the same time I get info from their cart to see if they have the same Mews as me. I think people who'd consider to make a fake from scratch would fear they couldn't pass it as real and get busted, and probably not worth the effort. They don't know what info is out there that can debunk its legitimacy. Though, yes, it can happen. It just doesn't seem to be a common thing. I actually see the savefile that is worth the value and not particularly the cart, as the cart is identical to a regular FireRed, so in one way it's not a problem. Though there are morals, which I don't even know how strongly I feel about, that you shouldn't "scam" people by calling it an original. But how much of a scam is it really? This is a likely case, though we can't say for sure. If we release the save to the public, then this will almost surely be a thing happening. Again, I'm not sure how much of a scam it actually is, but I really don't know if it'd be a good thing to do in the end to have a public save. Since the day I obtained the Mew save, I've wanted to release it to the public. I just fear unintentional negative side effects of doing so.
-
@pMD It seems totally possible that there may have been multiple savefiles for FireRed, according to what has been said. In that case, it would appear that one savefile is a lot more common than the other(s). There are no LeafGreen Mew carts, though. @pMD I agree with your point, and would likely support releasing the save if fake distros were already a problem. Though from what I've seen, this is not an issue. I don't think anyone bothers making fakes, because they'd fear it'd be easy to spot out. You'd need the specifics of TID/SID, approx. paytime, rival name, etc. If the save were public, there is the likely case someone may not have the means to inject it to a cartridge, but take the data and make a crappy fake from scratch. I'm going with the mindset that if there is no current problem, don't allow chances to create a potential problem. If there was an existing problem, then it probably wouldn't hurt to try to water down the problem.

I PM'd you about it, but I can provide the information I gathered by the Q&A I had with other cartridge owners which confirms every cart has had the same savefile amongst those I've talked to.
-
Different carts, I made extra certain of it. I did find it odd Celebi was the only pokemon not in the Pokedex, but I assumed they made it that way for a reason when the original save was created. Iirc, I had asked another savefile owner about the Celebi and they said it was the same case for them. It wasn't a question I asked every savefile owner about though, I mainly focused on verifying if they had the same Mews.
-
I'd assume there being room for error with the generated Mews or one of Twig's saves. It can't be a coincidence that I've gathered info from about 9 save files from several sources, all of which were identical. I suppose it's possible that there are some rarer carts that had alternate saves? Anyway, I'll shoot you a PM of my save files so you can research and whatnot, as long as they're kept to yourself and trusted members for the time being.
-
I've talked to several people, and I've gathered information on at least 7 save files other than my two, and every single save has been identical. Same Mews, same box, same slot. I've yet to find proof of alternate save files, so I'm not sure why it's been said they are all are different. I talked to someone on this forum who claimed to have one of Twig's saves, and the info I gathered when asked about the save confirmed it identical to mine. That being said, I'm still against the idea of a publicly available Mew save. While I really would like it to be public to make it easier to preserve history, the nature of these Mew distro carts are easy to counterfeit with your everyday FireRed cartridge, and I don't want scams popping up on eBay. While it's the save data that is actually worth the value, and not the cartridge, it'd still be immoral to try selling any FireRed cart as an original distro. I have no problem with providing mine to you if you want it. I'd just advise a lot of consideration and discussion before anyone goes ahead and makes it public.

Gen 1 2 3 Pokemon Editor and Converter for Windows + Mac OS X

Set up CFW on your 3DS if you haven't already done so, and install JK Save Manager to allow you to import/export the VC save files. Load(File > Import > Battery File) the extracted file through the VBA emulator after loading the corresponding rom. Do the normal in-game save so you can create the .sav, which you can use with this editor. Do the process in reverse(File > Export >Battery File(Change "Save as type" dropdown menu to Flash save)) to convert the edited .sav back to the proper format to inject back into the VC version via JK Save Manager. -

Try making sure the current PC box is an empty one before opening it in the editor. I've also had this happen with the Gen I games in particular. -

@ilovepokemon321 You should just set up homebrew or Custom Firmware, and use a save manager in conjunction with PKHeX. I don't even think the ram2sav links function anymore since it's been basically obsolete for a long time now. -

@ChokingVictim87 I've noticed if any PC box has 20/20 pokemon, for RBY/GSC, the editor will delete the entire box. I've been bypassing this issue by just making sure I have 19 or less in all my boxes. I think I reported this issue months back, but nothing came of it. -

If you have a 3DS with CFW to extract a decrypted save, yes you can. Current homebrew apps still don't work with the new save encryption, so CFW is required. -
Or just an archival for use in the Gen I games in general. As for using them in Gen VII, it all comes down to what the filter will be like with the PokeBank update. I've been able to successfully inject my original cartridge save files into the VC versions, so testing the Bank transfer filter will be no problem. But yes, I guess that would technically be considered hacking. If it passes the supposed filter though, I personally don't think badly of the idea.
-
Yeah, I knew you were referring to the Virtual Console RGBY Mew. I was just wondering if there was an interest in archiving Gen I Mew .pkm files. At the same time, depending on how well/existant the PokeBank hack check will be(Mew glitch), these original legitimate event Mews could be transferred to Sun/Moon as well. Regardless, I'm currently having someone check their legitimacy. I honestly don't expect them to be legit, but in the case they are, I would be able to contribute if there's an interest.

I'm not sure if this would be the right place to bring this up, but it is related to what you mentioned. Would there be a need for an original Gen I Japanese Mew? I had purchased all the Japanese Gen I and II cartridges off eBay months back, directly from Japan, and some of the Gen I games had Mews. However, I can't verify the legitimacy of some of them. I can discredit a few based on the TID matching the in-game TID, but others may be legit. Bulbapedia's list was the only list I could find, and most of those Mews don't have the TID and OT listed. I'm not sure if there's a better database somewhere. Serebii doesn't cover Gen I events.

Open the .pkx/.pk6 in PKHeX, or open the .wc6 with SciresM's WC6 Editor. -

Yes, if you edit it to have the correct data to make it appear to be from Gen 3, then it should work. I'm just not sure about the giveaway mythicals, unlike Mew which could've been caught in Emerald. You may need the correct event TID/SID and OT for the Celebi, which is why I'm assuming it may not pass the Transport filter. But like I said, it's known that the hack filter isn't perfect. It's worth a shot though. -

10.5 is the current firmware. And given the track record, homebrew will likely continue to work on later firmwares. Of course, Nintendo patches browser/menuhax every update, but yellows8 always gets it working again fairly quickly. Unfortunate Nintendo finally killed ironhax though. -

I'm 99% sure that even un-shinying or making it Japanese will not help it pass the Transporter hack check, because still, there is no legitimate way to transfer from Gen II to III. There's a slim but unlikely chance it will pass, because the hack filter isn't flawless, but I really doubt it. If you want a legitimate Gen 3 Celebi, send me a PM and I'll send you a .pkm file. -

@Yungerer @Yungerer You literally only need homebrew access if you want to extract/inject your save file. Downgrading and setting up CFW is a lot of unnecessary steps and complication if all you want to do is save edit. Since you can still run homebrew on current firmware, all you need to do is go to smealum's homebrew page, download the starter kit, then access browserhax temporarily so you can set up the more permanent menuhax. Use "svdt" to extract/inject your save files. -

As the GS Ball was never legitimately available outside of Japan, I'm 99% sure the Celebi/game would have to be Japanese to be legit, unless there were random shiny Celebis given away during Celebi distros that we don't know about. Regardless, since you can't legitimately transfer from Gen II to Gen III, a shiny Celebi will not pass the Poke Transporter to Gen VI. -
So if that's the case, why did Twig's three saves all have different unique Mews? I'm confused.
-
I've recently obtained two save files from two of these Mew cartridges. One save has Box 4 - 14 full, with 2/5 of Box 3 remaining. The other save has Box 6 - 14 full, Box 4 almost empty, Box 5 almost full, and Box 1 with 25 Mews that were manually moved there by the cartridge owner. From examination, it's quite obvious that each cartridge was injected with the same save file(Hall of Fame, TID, etc), which originally seems to have apparently been played through by a Nintendo employee. However, from what I'm understanding from this thread, after the FireRed carts were injected with the save file, they were all then injected with unique Mews. This is where I'm confused. The two saves I have both have mostly identical Mews in the same Box, same slot. I'd guess between 95-98% are identical. I found a few here and there that didn't match up. I had assumed those Mews were originally traded, and later the holes were filled in again with Mews from another box by a previous owner. This had caused me to assume all carts had the same 420 Mews, but this thread has me confused. I'm quite certain the two saves were not originally the same, as the owner of the cartridges didn't even know how to dump the saves until I taught him how to do so. He also purchased the carts from different eBay sellers, so it seems unlikely that someone previously had injected the same save into one of the carts. If anyone who still has Twig's saves and wants to examine and compare mine, I don't mind providing them.

Since my GBA AR no longer works, I've bought an old R4 to extract my saves so I can hack them through an emulator. I edited in the Mystic and Aurora Tickets in my LeafGreen with a save editor, however I still need an enabler so the Vermillion sailor acknowledges the tickets. The problem is the VBA emulator only supports GameShark and CodeBreaker, and none of the codes I find for those devices actually work. Not sure if anyone can help, but any help would be much appreciated.
