  1. It's actually very easy to use, just a little frustrating as some features are missing/incomplete, and rather time consuming at first (having to read all of the tooltips/pop-ups.) From experience though, i'd say a good 80-90% of people that use PokeSav make the pokemon incorrectly. I was making seemingly legit pokemon (worked in PBR) and then 1.5 years later I find out that I had been making them wrong the entire time. After a good 3-4 years of learning SAV, it's understandable that some of us are skeptical of switching over to PokeGen. Anyways i'll just download that b17 version and see how it goes. :3
  2. The zip file says "PokeGen 3.0b16" -- not sure how recent that one is. I tried to make a Dreamworld espeon just now and absolutely nothing happened, I made one in PokeSav moments after and it worked fine. Guess i'll try that b17 out whenever I manage to find it. Until then.. Do you guys happen to know exactly which hidden values are used in B/W (for egg-hatched and dreamworld pokemon only)? If the OP (and myself) have a list of which fields are/aren't used, then i'm sure we can make the effort to find out what values to imput in them ourselves. Right now, the only hex values that I edit are 41h, 42h, and 83h. No idea if these are supposed to be left as 00 or if other values are even used. -- While i'm here I might as well ask, do you know why the PID finder in PokeGen is so strict with the IVs? It totally randomizes them, and quite often it cuts more than one of the important stats from 28-31 down to like 2-13. (It seems a lot more automatic when compared to pokesav, which feels a lot more manual to me and gives you more control?)
  3. I tried PokeGEN out three times. At first I got the white screen, second time absolutely nothing happened, third time it crashed the game. So I just used a glitchy untranslated version of PokeSAV which worked completely fine. PokeGEN is probably good once you figure it all out, but i've had a tonn of trouble with the PID search feature thus far.. What puts me off the most is that i've always kept a template saved for your typical egg-hatched pokemon which saved me so much time on PokeSAV. (Is that even possible with PokeGEN?) Edit: looks like the version of PokeGen that i'm using still has japanese names for some abilities, wonder if there's a more updated version.. Edit #2:
  4. I booted my computer up and about 30 seconds after logging in, my Kaspersky yelled at PokeSAV D&P - called it a "Backdoor.Win32.VB.Maz" - then killed the file and made me reboot. To the best of my recollection, I downloaded that file well over 2 years ago, and I'm 100% sure this wasn't a false positive. I remember seeing a "Win32/ole was affected" message seconds before hitting the restard button. I also noticed the guy below me had issues with the same virus on a different SAV version, and posted no less than half a day ago - "http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?10561-Platinum-pokesav-virus&p=87467" He's also using a totally different AV,as I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. Anyone know what's up?
  5. Hey, I was wondering why - when I make legitimately hatched pokemon in HG/SS PokeSAV - they come up as "Daycare Couple // Hatched @ Route 34" for me on my Soul Silver version. BUT If I go to a wifi trade, anyone using Diamond or Pearl who inspects them, sees them as "Daycare Couple // FarAwayPlace" -- whereas I see their Sinnoh-bred pokemon as "Daycare Couple // Hatched @ Route 300" Is that normal? or does the HGSS actually need updating like i've been suggesting for ages?
  6. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?218-~Guide-to-44h-45h-46h-47h-and-85h-Values~ http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?5532-List-of-46h-and-47h-values-of-HG-SS-locations It's been wonky for the last several weeks, I had to edit pokesav myself to make one that works without so many hassles.
  7. I'm guessing either 8 (Johto SS), or 00 (None). But it would be cool if anyone could confirm it for me. =P
  8. I think 85h depends where you catch the pokemon, mine is 00 in HG/SS because i breed/hatch them. So if you wanted it to be a hatched pokemon then there's probably a specific number for a trade. I'm no expert, but i'd just input the code from where I caught the pokemon in D/P/PT. If it's from Pal Part it's probably 00, but i'm guessing it depends on where you caught it on the original game.
  9. I never had that problem, but I fixed it for my girlfriend who was experiencing similar issues using vista. and I fixed the sh*tty bug where you try to type in your name and it only allows 2 letter - resulting in you having to keyboard mash. =/
  10. The ebayer that sold me my game said it was the 'australian' version, he shipped it and i received it on the 18th - it clearly says "USA" on the front of the cartridge but as far as I know DS games are region free so it doesn't really matter if it's the AUZ or EU version. I'm not sure what you mean by backing up the game, if you mean coping the save from your DS soul silver game and placing the save on to your computer incase the game screws up.. then i've never done that before.. So I doubt I can help you with it. when you say "NDS Adapter" are you referring to the usb-to-AR cable? or something entirely different.. -- if the codes copy from the computer to the AR fine then I doubt pokesav is the problem. if the ds resets or turns off after you remove the AR DS and insert the game, then i'd say the AR DS is broken, the DS is broken, or the Pokemon SS cartridge is dodgy. Because yeah, i'm using the same "Pokemon SS cartridge/version as you." I have "Action Replay Code Manager" (installed on this computer, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit) I'm using Action Replay DS, (the old version where you have to turn the game on with the cartridge in, then remove it and insert the DS game). You're not having any problems sending the PokeSAV codes from Action Replay Code Manager to the Action Replay cartridge right?
  11. What code thing does your cartridge say for you on the Action Replay screen? Like if you start up Action Replay and don't have the SS cheaps on it, it should display some weird code. And i'm using Action Replay Code Manager on this computer (which is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) and i'm sending codes to my US version of the game just fine - granted it took about a week before I managed to figure out how to get it to work - but the bigger problem for me is that PokeSAV is just totally screwed up and I can't make any legitimate pokemon on my US version - i've been trying for over a week and all the stupid codes do is freeze my game. Anyway, get back to me with that version code if you can. =P
  12. Chances are even if you're doing it right, it still won't work. and yeah .net3.5 is fine. Definately easier, D/P works fine and you'll have your team before you get any sort of helpful response here. =/
  13. Uh.. yeah... I'm fairly intimate with the use of PokeSAV D/P and i'm having extreme difficulty with game crashes using .03a HGSS. So I feel sorry for the people who are new and not sure on how to use it.. That's what my SS cartridge's ID is, I checked it within 5 minutes of receiving Soul Silver in the mail.Actually, the only codes that do work are the ones where I left all the hex values at 00...
  14. I doubt you'll get any clear answers/solutions, tonns of people are asking HGSS questions rofl. Someone else mentioned that JPN code thing, I tried changing mine, but there was no difference at all for me.. They really DO need to update PokeSAV HGSS imo; even if people are saying it's fine, I don't think that's the case.. Try making a random pokemon and have the "location met" as route 203 or something. make it hold light ball, then just take the light ball off of the pokemon and release it. I know for a fact that it'll work because I did it with leftovers 3 days ago. Good luck, hopefully you get someone help you out. =/
