Nope, shinys have been around since second gen. I should know because I'm still raging about the fact that I've never personally encountered a shiny and the first time my brother plays Pokemon Gold, BAM! Shiny Weedle.

Yeah, shinies were introduced in the second gen, and that's why they sparkle. If you happened to be playing your game on GameBoy instead of Gameboy Color, you will notice that it's different.

Seriously, if you're going to just revert back to common English, don't try to make it sound any more "majestic" than it really isn't. Also, I'm wondering if "catching shiny pokemon" is considered "art," wouldn't this content be more appropriate in the respective gen sections?

Cool, I mean since its an old game I can hardly tell a pokeball is a pokeball but awesome! a shiny suicoone! My friend had one but he foolishly traded it over wifi.
