Larimarill
Hi, longtime Pokemon fan. I recently downloaded PKHex, but I'm very confused with it; how do I go about editing saves from cartridge? I assume I have to find a way to download the file onto the computer with something, but I'm lost. I tried Checkpoint, and all that happened was that I was in a never ending loop of saving/opening it. Sorry if this is not the right place for it, but I'm not sure where this would go otherwise. theSLAYER
well, you need a way to dump your save from your console, then copy it onto your computer, in order to edit it.
Larimarill
Oh ok, how do I do that? The directions never seem to mention how to put certain programs and tools on the 3ds. Thanks for replying! Edited December 18, 2020 by Larimarill

If it isn't, cybergadget wouldn't work on it. Also, your best bet is probably installing CFW, then dumping the save. edit: I mentioned cybergadget here cause I thought you mentioned it. Reading what I'm quoting, and your edits, I can only assume I was reading someone else's post (probably this) when I replied here. In any case, my bad. Anyhow, I won't recommend cybergadget, and will recommend getting CFW.
Hayato213
If you have CFW you can decrypt the save on 3DS using tools like JKSV, and Checkpoint, alternative is cyber gadget save editor that theSlayer mentioned, but that is obsolete, pretty pricey just to decrypt and edit a pokemon save.
Larimarill
I don't have CFW. I have no idea what to start with or how to get CFW onto my 3ds.

Larimarill
I'm trying this on an older laptop; is it alright if the Luma files shows up as WinRAR? And how do I install Luma and BannerBomb3 on the 3ds?
SkyLink98
The Luma WinRar file you're talking about is presumably an archive. You have to extract the file inside the archive, then follow the guide

InsaneNutter
You need to use a save manager to dump the save and restore it once you have made edits with PKHeX 3DS Pokemon Games: JKSM: JK's Save Manager for 3DS NDS Pokemon Games: TWLSaveTool: A 3DS homebrew that allows you to read, write, and erase save files from NDS cartridges
