cicciochiave Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 Do we need to do something (talk to someone or other...) before we can find the Heart Scales? I used the Itemfinder in the spots where the scales should be, but nothing was found... I'm sure I didn't collect them already 1

I'm suspecting everything got shifted after the N/A above. will be looking at and fixing my table. edit: Yup, the Persim Berry on Route 10 is 1125 instead of 1126, meaning the skipped the NA. Modified my table to reflect that information. edit again: Oh boy, viridian forest potion is 1000, meaning somewhere in the list it decided to jump up by another flag.. I don't know how and I don't know where, it appears I made another mistake. Table fixed, with the correct numbers, starting from the nice round number

PS: It seems like FR/LG are less documented then R/S/E as for the flags and this is the reason why i'm loving this thread... it is growing day by day. I've read that events such events are either: 1. Tied to talking to NPCs (like how the legendaries only roam after you talk to Celio to complete Sapphire delivery) 2. They randomly respawn after a certain number of steps. So we either didn't walk enough steps for it to respawn, or we didn't talk to an important character. In any case, the page @Kaphotics linked us pretty much has RSE items and hidden items, and we've now cracked all hidden items of FRLG. (Sadly, that github doesn't contained a flags disassembly for FRLG ) 1

I was also able to make the Memorial Pillar Big Pearl finally appear after I caught my legendary roamer (Suicune) at Route 2. I feel super sure about this because I kept rechecking the Memorial Pillar once per day and once I caught Suicune I rechecked the area on a whim and it finally spawned. It seems that certain hidden items only start to appear after doing particular things? Edit: I forgot to mention that that I was also missing the Memorial Pillar Big Pearl until VERY recently. I'm still wondering as to what specific in-game event would naturally trigger those flags. I've never used any of those one-time tutors. Maybe the Heart Scale flags are tied to them? No idea how, but this fellow here was able to find the Heart Scales: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l8IekFzPfWg. Maybe it's because they used those move tutors? My oh my, what a hassle!

I can 100% confirm that using up ALL the one-time move tutors will naturally spawn the Heart Scales. Although, it was probably only triggered by using up a particular move tutor. I took no chances and did them all just to cover all bases. I FINALLY found all the Leaf Green hidden items, I can finally rest easy . 2

At least we know is it tied to a move tutor, now can pinpoint which one. Also, if you made a save backup per move tutor, could just check at which point the flag was triggered (on PKHeX)

I just wanted to get it over with because it was a hassle tracking them all down one by one. I saved immediately after I got all 4 because I was so glad I found everything and didn't wanna risk losing my progress. Thinking back, the developers probably intended for the Heart Scales to ONLY spawn after using up all (or some) in-game move tutors as some form of RSE-related irony. At least the mystery of the hidden Heart Scales has been solved lol. 1

ZSpica Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 So I've been recently playing though the entire game picking every single Item and I've found some oddities when it comes on what triggers what. So first, after the league (the first one, not the rematch), I followed bulbapedia to pick everything aviable in every single area before delivering the sapphire: Mt Moon mushrooms unaviable One Island Treasure Beach: I could get only ultraballs before clearing the league, after that could get the star piece and big pearl aswell (still could not get the other items listed). Third Island Berry Forest, looks like you can get half of the berries before the hypno thing, and the other half later. Five Island Resort Gorgeous, you can get the nest ball and the star piece after Slephy, not the stardust. And here is where the oddities come, I couldnt get this items before delivering the sapphire: Route 21 big pearl Memorial Pillar big pearl Green Path ultraball Resourt Gorgeous stardust x2 Outcast Land ultraball and star piece Trainer Tower pearl and big pearl And lastly the x4 heart scales in the Tanoby Chambers So I saved before the sapphire, delivered it and proceed to try get the items above. The mushrooms where still unaviable, and could get all the items above but the memorial pillar big pearl, trainer tower big pearl and the x4 heartscales. But then, I noticed I forgot to get the underground paths items, so I went there and tried to pick them, I found none but an ather in the route 5-6 one ( btw underground path items are swapped in bulbapedia, so the route 5-6 items are the 7-8 ones). So I said "well, I will softreset, pick it, and see what happens". So I did, I SR'd, left one island before delivering the sapphire and whent to the underground path to pick up the ether. It wasn't there. Instead, there were all the other items but the ether (Ice heal, antidote, burn heal, awakening, paralyz heal and potion). So WTF. Picked them, whent to deliver the sapphire, saved again. And when tried to pick the items listed again... I COULDN'T FOUND MOST OF THEM, Route 21 pearl, green path ultraball, outcast land ultraball and star piece and trainer tower pearl that I could get the first time, now weren't there, BUT, now I could get the Memorial Pillar big pearl. I know this thread looks kinda dead, but just in case someone keeps with the research, hope this helps. Additionally, want to say that in another save I had prior to this one, I could get everything (but I did it after finishing everything but getting mewtwo), noticed tho I only could get the heartscales aswell after getting mewtwo. But in that save I didn't use a single move tutor, like someone else said here.
