QR Gift: Shiny Partner Cap Pikachu .

About This File

This gift was programmed in the game to be shiny locked. However, due to a programming oversight,
it is possible to receive the Partner Cap Pikachu as shiny (standard odds),
if your Trainer Shiny Value (TSV) is not 1009. This is the only Pikachu Cap Variant that can be received shiny.
(Note: Still available shiny, up to update Version 1.2)

How the game mechanic worked, was that the game would generate a PID that is not shiny compared to your TID/SID.
After that generation, the game will proceed to overwrite the Pikachu's TID/SID with Ash's.
Hence, there is a chance that the PID generated for the Pikachu will be shiny against TID/SID of Ash, as the game doesn't check for that.

This was discovered by @wwwwwwzx when reviewing the game's code, who then went ahead to test and prove it with RNG.
A few other users also corroborated the data with their own findings.

The data below refers to the file itself, not the encounter as a whole.

Also is it able to be tradeable online if it's legit now?

It's an impossible creature that was available due to a glitch, and now determined to be able to be obtained legitimately. That's good enough for me.

(even if Color isnt different, it certainly sparkles!)

To my understanding, it might not even be blocked to begin with.

I think there was a glitch with my summary program. I believe the file has it (my in-game copy certainly has it)

Also, wishing ribbon, not souvenir ribbon

sorry. learn english that way and isnt my main language.

 

what i mean is, that i got this in november already when the movie and game came out. was just being stupid and went for a softreset to get shoiny. didnt take long though, just an hour.

No no, it is not that I didn't understand you, if was more of a "need more details to work with here" type of situation.

If you got a shiny in an hour, you were very lucky. (cause it's standard odds)

In any case, when we previously viewed the game data, it was understood that this event was shiny locked.
However, it was recently found out that the implementation of the shiny lock was faulty.

Plus, before this, I don't think we got any reports about anyone receiving a shiny one.

yeah cuz of that lock ppl said mine was hacked so decided not to share anymore cuz all i got was hate comments

yeah I can understand that. to be fair, I would have difficulties believing it, since we know it is locked.

Only other way for this kind of things, is to discover how it works or what glitched up. (much like the Crabrawler issue presently, for example)

i just dont know how all those programms work. and sadly i cant even use them.

Amazing find for sure, i guess i'll go SR for one later and wait patiently to see if GF tries to correct the mistake since i do doubt they'll leave it how it is, their intention was probably to shiny lock it solely because it is Ash's pikachu which isn't even shiny in the anime... but then again it's the exact same sprite and wearing a hat like the real pikachu does so who knows.

just tried to import this into my moon save, i am getting this error message. why?

Here's a hint: Partner Cap is a USUM exclusive form.

Hmmm.. It's almost as though one of USUM's selling points, was the addition of new forms. And the side-effect was those forms not being able to be traded to SM. 😜
