All Project Pokemon rules apply.

This is for (game) help and small questions. If you discuss a subject for more than a few posts, consider starting a thread.

Please be specific as possible and search Google and the forums/site before posting a question.

Also, useful pictures:

I have a few questions. First of all, I haven't really played pokemon much since the original Gold/Silver versions. I have zero understanding of IVs/EVs, and have questions about breeding/stats.

In G/S/C on GBC, if you had a shiny ditto and left it at daycare with another pokemon, supposedly the egg would have a 1/64 chance of being shiny as opposed to the normal 1/8192. Say I would get a shiny ditto in HG/SS, what would the odds of the baby being shiny be?

Second question, on GBC you could deposit a Lvl 100 pokemon in a box after a series of battles (say Elite Four + Red + Trainer House) and have all the visible stats raise a bit. Will this work in HG/SS as well and does it work in the same way?

Thanks.

If you don't think you'll ever utilize them, such as in the Battle Frontier or in Wi-Fi play or official tournaments, then you don't have to. But they've always been in the games.

Same 1/8000 chance. However, a Pokemon from your game + a Pokemon from a different country's game obtained via a trade will reduce the chance of the egg being shiny from 1/8000 to about 1/2000. This is known as the Masuda method, named after the programmer who revealed it. You can read more about it here (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Masuda_method).

It's not just a level 100 Pokemon. It's any Pokemon. The EVs will be recalculated into the visible stats every time you put it into the PC.

When do you find the move relearner and when do you get the experience share?

Thank you Randomspot :)

When do you find the move relearner and when do you get the experience share?

Exp. share is given by Mr. Pokemon when you give him a Red Scale. Get a Red Scale by matching three #s at the Goldenrod lottery.

Blackthorn city. He's in the same house as a move tutor and a move deleter. The move re-learner accepts Heart Scales.

The Red Scale is actually obtained right after the battle with the Red Gyarados. You're thinking of getting an Exp. Share directly from the lottery, not the Red Scale. But your right about giving it to Mr. Pokémon.

My question: Is there a guide somewhere with a comprehensive list of items found by the Dowsing MCHN (Itemfinder)? Pokéarth isn't that specific with the exact locations.

Hoping I'm wrong about this... but has the PC storage system in Hg/Ss dropped the ability to move groups of Pokemon en masse around or between boxes? I've done everything i can think of with both the buttons and touch screen, and nothing I do will select more than a single Pokemon or get that little glove selector to turn yellow.

I've noticed a similar deficiency in the Items Bag, as far as attempts to organize the list goes... particularly the main section, as it potentially holds such a large number of things once you've collected all the hold items, fossils, evo stones, etc. The grid display is great for finding things, but the Select button no longer allows you to choose an item and shift it wherever you'd like. You now have to tap the item, go down to tap "move", then keep tapping as you scroll to find where you want it to go, and then the final tap to get it in place.

Hg/Ss seem to retain all the other button functionalities from the previous games... so are these there and I'm just not seeing the way it's done? Or was GF really so eager to making everything functional through the touch screen that they sacrificed the ease with which the bag and PC could be organized before?

Which games do you need to complete the Pokédex 100 % (excluding unobtainables which may only be obtained through official events)
Do you really need Ruby AND Sapphire AND Emerald AND FireRed AND LeafGreen AND Diamond AND Pearl AND Platinum AND HeartGold AND SoulSilver?

Or which ones do you need? Out of the GBA-games I only have Emerald for example. Do I need both R/S as well and both FR/LG etc.

Ugh, Too many games and too much money if I need all of those for sure.

No, you don't need FR/LG, because you can get all Gen I Pokémon in the game;
You may need DPPt to get some Generation IV Pokémon [use the GTS (or something similar) to get version exclusives].

I'm not too sure about RSE, though.

That was so useful in D/P/Plat. But I'm fairly certain it's been dropped in HG/SS.

Totally worth it though. They really utilized the touch screen, and I love it.

Every single legendary Pokemon is available within Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver. Some may require an in-game event to be triggered, or download an event via mystery gift. I'll outline these below (note when I say Movie Event, I'm also referring to subsequent events that were held in the US, Australia, and Europe as well as the actual movie event in Japan):

Golem Trio: In Platinum triggered by the Movie/TRU event Regigias.
Darkrai: Movie event, key item was distributed. also had an event in the second Ranger game.
Shaymin: Same as above except no Ranger game event.
Arceus: Movie event.
Jirachi: Recent event distributed.
Celebi: Will likely be the upcoming movie event.
Phione: Breed Manaphy or Phione with Ditto.
Manaphy: Movie event, any Ranger game.
Deoxys: Movie event, also will be able to be transferred in Ranger 3.
Rayquaza: Have both HG/SS Kyogre and HG/SS Groudon to capture him in Johto.
Mew: From Ranch and periodic events.

Everything else is in the 4th gen games.

Everything besides Sinnoh starters are available in HG/SS.

As for non-legendary Pokemon, I have HEARD that between Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver, all Pokemon can be captured. Of course, you might not need all of them if you have some of the 3rd gen games to activate Pokemon found via the Dongle method (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Dongle_method)

Also, be cautious about buying used 3rd gen games. there are a lot of bootlegs out there, and online sellers on Ebay/Amazon are not obligated to accept returns or give you a refund. If you do buy online, buy from a store that also has actual retail outlets so you can get there and at least return it for store credit.

For the Arceus event, is it a specific Arceus that needs to be used, or will any Arceus suffice? Because I've heard both ways and just need clarification...and if it is a specific one, where could I find a wondercode or something to bring it to Diamond to later transfer to SS?

It has to have the Pokemon Event flag checked.

AR codes can be found in the RAM Editing forum.

Yeah, I think the part of the point of releasing Hg/Ss was to finally make every Pokemon obtainable without players having to rely on GBA generation games for Pal Parking, etc. Similarly, Fr/Lg made all the 386 Pokemon of that time catchable without needing either of the Gamecube games.

That was so useful in D/P/Plat. But I'm fairly certain it's been dropped in HG/SS.

Totally worth it though. They really utilized the touch screen, and I love it.

That's such a shame, and it's really my only major gripe so far with Hg/Ss. Aside from that, Im loving the game.

Removing it just doesn't make any sense, to me. Keeping the way the buttons worked in D/P/Pt in addition to the new touchscreen features wouldn't have caused any problems. Organizing PC boxes isn't going to be very easy this time around... it's lucky I've been using the same basic arrangement since R/S/E. If I start early, before there are too many Pokemon in the PC, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to get it ordered.

Yes, I do believe these handy functions have disappeared, or like with the bag, have become more complicated. I too am very sad about the inefficiency in PC organization in HG/SS because I'm already hoarding pokemon -_-. So, better start organizing soon or it will be a big project later.

I think the radio stations will be similar to the dongle method. Of course, what pokemon you will be able to obtain I believe are different.

Any event distributed Arceus.

Movie 12 in Japan.

TRU in US

and there's also a current (or very recent past) distribution in Europe going on right now.

They made a number of incredibly stupid decisions revolving around the touch screen, and that was one of them. The butchering of the lower screen's convenient Poketch app access in exchange for a cumbersome and annoying menu interface (I liked being able to have the Itemfinder on all the time without having to reinitialize it after every battle/doorway). The change to them item menu, which made finding and organizing any items two hundred times more painful (and it wasn't exactly great to begin with, given how many items there were). Having the side buttons (sprint and registered items) not be availible via button menu scrolling. Having to select the phone option on the menu every time you get an incoming call, rather than auto-answering. Having to double select every time a choice comes up because the game can't understand that a lot of people don't want to use the cumbersome and annoying touch controls...

Rather than selecting each Pokemon, then selecting "Move", however, you can just hit the "Move" button before selecting any Pokemon, then one click will pick a Pokemon up, and a second will drop it.

This game's removal of easy to use features in exchange for promoting the touch screen is probably the single biggest problem it has.

Tried making a thread but think there are too many threads in moderation queue so perhaps a post will suffice. :P

Just a quick respons to Izzi1r: unless you plan to restart the game, you can't meet Lugia once you kill it I believe... or did they change a fundamental feature in HGSS? :3

Anyway my post is about getting to Lugia the quickest way possible:

You need Surf, Whirlpool and preferably Flash. Also you must have fought the kimono girls in Ecruteak City in order to actually meet Lugia. And you must have the 8 Johto badges.

1. Go/fly to Olivine City
2. Head south-west (to the beach)
3. Start surfing along the right side all the way down...
4. Once you see the first whirl of water, use Whirlpool to get across!
5. Enter the cave, follow the path until the road splits, take the north side!
6. Follow the path, first ladder you see is where you want to enter!

There it is, hope it helps! :)

I'm trying to evolve a pokemon via happiness as early as possible (so walking to max happiness at level 1, then gain a level) I am assuming that talking to the pokemon displays different messages depending on its happiness like in yellow, what sort of messages should I be expecting to see at max happiness?
Right now I'm getting stuff along the lines of "Riolu is jumping for joy!" "Woah! Riolu suddenly hugged you!" "Riolu is coming along happily!" etc.

We closed the Wi-Fi trading forum (and the Wi-Fi Battle forum) because this forum just doesn't have that big of a Wi-Fi community at this point.

There are stickied threads for each in D/P/Plat discussion forums.

You can also make Pokesav Pokemon requests in Pokemon Requests and request that they be traded to you via Wi-Fi.

Right now I'm getting stuff along the lines of "Riolu is jumping for joy!" "Woah! Riolu suddenly hugged you!" "Riolu is coming along happily!" etc.

I'm not entirely sure if you can tell by what they say when interact with them... but... I know of a way where you can tell. There is a happiness rater in Goldenrod city, she's north of the bike shop. She will take the pokemon in the first slot of your party and rate their happiness.

She would say one of the following things listed below:

Sentence Happiness
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It looks really happy! It must love you a lot." 250-255
"I get the feeling that it really trusts you." 200-249
"It's friendly toward you. It looks sort of happy." 150-199
"It's quite cute." 100-149
"You should treat it better. It's not used to you." 50-99
"It doesn't seem to like you at all. It looks mean." 0-49
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The numbers mean how high their happiness points are. Of course, you would want them to be as high as possible to get your riolu to evolve. If the points are not as high as they can be you could do some of the things listed below:
Walking 256 steps +1 +2
Massage, Veilstone City +3 +5
Massage, Ribbon Syndicate +5 +6
Using vitamins +2 +6
Gaining a level +2 +6
Using EV Berries +2 +6
Using healing items +1 +2
The first number is how much the happiness points would increase by. The second number is how much the happiness points would increase by if the pokemon was caught in a luxury ball or a friend ball (green apricorn).
I hope this helped.
I got Heracross, on the route where you find Sudowoodo blocking the way (36, I think?). Just a random tree along the side of the route.
Also, Pokemonfan, IIRC, the Friend Ball does not have the passive effect that the Luxury Ball has. It just makes the Friendship of any Pokemon you catch equal 200 when you catch it, with no continuing boost after that, doesn't it?
Ok, I'm halfway through playing SS (just beaten Morty at Ecruteak Gym).
Want to know what you think of my team? Not going to post moves because I haven't worked that out yet (still fine-tuning and stuff)... but... general opinions, please? x
Piloswine level 33*
Feraligatr level 31**
Ampharos level 32
Quilava level 31
Scizor level 32
Pupitar level 31*
You are way overleveled o_o
My team were around level 38ish when I was at Victory Road...
You should be set. The level curve in this game is much too low.
Oh any idea where to get the Good Rod? Seemed to have the opposite case as of Okami. By the way, are they any trading threads for Heartgold or Soulsilver?
There is a house behind the Pokemon Center in Olivine City... the guy there gives you the Good Rod.
Alright...so I am going to be training my Poochyena in Attack EVs soon. I have guides and everything, but I just wanted to know....once I accumulate the 252 EVs in Attack, can I move on to fighting pokemon that aren't like...Seaking/Gyarados? Or do I have to continue fighting these until I reach level 100? I'll be using the Protein vitamin to bring up the 100EVs in Attack so I've only got 152 to go, and getting Pokerus on it before moving it to Soul. Also, are the guides correct in telling me that the two aforementioned pokemon both give 2 attack EVs? I just want everything to be correct with training up this Poochyena. :]
EDIT: The bolded section is the only one I still need answered, I figured the rest out myself.
My question is about obtaining either Torchic, Mudkip, or Treeko. I've done what all the guides say but Steven never shows up at Silph co. I beat my rival at Mt. Moon, I double battled him against Lance and Clair, and i fought him in the pokemon league building on a Wednesday. Why won't Steven show up? (I gave the copycat girl back her Clefairy doll and Steven told me that Latios is now around, but he isn't at Silph)
Another question: When EV training a pokemon, is there anything to prevent you from making one stat 255, 2 others 100 each, one 30, and one 25?
You can move onto battling other pokemon. Once a pokemon has accumulated the EVs they won't be overwritten or anything like that. Only fight random pokemon if you don't care about the other EVs your pokemon has because they will gain other EVs from the non attack EV pokemon.
yeah its possible to catch it with a pokeball but its gonna take time to do it since your not using a stronger type of pokeball like i caught Rayquaza with a pokeball in my emerald after i frozed it once and threw one pokeball and i caught it so why not try freezing it first then false swipe it
You'd need to defeat the Elite 4's second rosters... after defeating all 16 gym leaders and talking to Professor Oak the Elite 4 will get tougher. After you beat their second rosters Steven will be there and Professor Oak can give you the Kanto starters as well.
Erm, about your EV training question... there is NO specific way to EV train. It's just that a maximum in one stat can be 255, maximum altogether is 510. So you can have 85 in all stats if you wanted (it isn't optimal but just an example).
Yeah, but I heard that if you train one stat all the way up to 255 you lose out on 3 EVs, so a lot of people get two stats to 252 and one to 6. But is my breakdown possible?
Oh that's what you mean. Every 4 EVs become 1 stat point... and since 255 is not divisible by 4, they go to 252, which is the maximum possible for a number divisible by 4.
I don't know why you would want your spread though, but as long as the total adds up to 510, then it is possible. Remember though, 508 is divisible by 4, 510 isn't, so 2 EVs are always "wasted".
What event does the event celebi trigger in HG/SS?
What event does the event celebi trigger in HG/SS?
A Fateful Encounter (IE a celebi with Pokemon Event marked to trigger the event, just like Shaymin and the Glaciblablah flower, Regigias and the Golem Trio, and Arceus and the Shinto Ruins) Celebi will cause you to travel back in time if it's the first in your party, following you, at the Illex Forest shrine. While in the past, you encounter Giovanni who hears Team Rocket's broadcasts from the radio tower in Golden Rod. He is going to join them and re-unite them. So you battle.
Because of you traveling back in time, you have to have gotten the 7th gym badge of Johto and have accomplished the Radio Tower quest before this event can be triggered.
Some are claiming that normal event Celebis from Gen III (Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disk and JAA 10 ANIV) can trigger the event as well. I tested it with two different 10 ANIV Celebis and got no results.
Strangely enough, his team that he uses is quite a bit different from the ones you fight throughout FR/LG (minor spoilers below):
Kangaskhan is back, leveled up, and has a new movepool. Nidoqueen has gained a few levels. Honchkrow is a brand new addition. And his Nidoking (whcih he used in his FR/LG Gym Battle) has actually decreased in levels.
Well you can find Shinx on the following Routes 1 / 2 / 3 (lowest lvls), but you must be listening "Sinnoh Sound" and Bidoof on route 6, the same method
Whenever I try to trade a pokemon with a hacked ability from HG/SS, like my speed-boost Ampharos (I make up interesting hacks for my second playthrough :)) The union room gives me a communication error as soon as I select that pokemon to trade. I want to trade out my pokemon to my platinum to be able to start the game again without losing my current pokemon. Is this a new feature of HG/SS? If it is, is there an AR code I can use to circumvent it?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Hi all,
I was just traded a Pokemon from a copy of Platinum to my Soul Silver. The location info shows up as I would have expected it to in Platinum, as in it mentions the egg was 'apparently hatched' on route 209 and received from the Day Care couple.
On the other hand, a Pokemon traded to Platinum from SS will show as from 'Faraway Place'- should it not say the same in Soul Silver, or does it retain the Route 209 info because it's a more recent game?
Cheers
Plat info is programmed into HG/SS.
Johto info isn't specifically programmed into the Sinnoh games. There is a "Johto" location that can be used for Pal-Park, but that's about it.
The Acid Rain gltch is still present. A Ditto glitch involving the move Mimic, and a Transform Glitch involving the move Rage, have been discovered.
As to your second query, probably because the specific Pokemon failed to meet the GTS' very lax legality check.
You can catch them easily just outside of the day-care. The game is basically telling you what they're for.
I find the Safari Zone seriously frustrating. Having tried the Mud first and just throwing a ball there seems no real advantage with either method. I believe the Mud makes the Pokemon more likely to flee anyway. I now just throw a ball and hope. On a good run I can catch maybe four or five Pokemon with my allocation of balls.
Where do you find Houndoom. I was trying to get one in Pearl (to transfer) but it was just too far away with the limited steps as I wasn't sure where to go..
It means that you have to place 10 peak items (small rock, big rock, mossy rock) in that Safari Zone area in oder for Houndoom to appear. Once you have the ability to place items in the Safari Zone, then go into the Plains area, place 10 rocks, and walk in the grass. Houdoom should show up, though still rarely. The easiest way is to go to Route 7 at night and catch a Houndour. Be quick though because they like to use roar to escape from battle.
I now have a bookmark set on the Safari Zone Guide at Gamefaqs for my future Pokemon collecting. Also useful as to what Pokemon I need to find in my GBA cartidges to fill in the gaps.
I presume some people may prefer a Lv 42 Ponyta as opposed to a pre-evolution level one. Is there any advantage in holding back on Pokemon Evolution in terms of stats?
In terms of stats nothing changes really. Every pokemon has a base stat, as you know, and a pokemon will always get its base stats regardless of when it was evolved - EV's IV's and all of that are carried over through the evolution so the same benefits are carried over too. But, of course, Fully evolved pokemons stats > NFE stats
The benefits of getting the 1st stage pokemon are that A) it's easier to evolve than to breed - pokedex filled quicker. B) holding off on evolution means that pokemon can learn certain moves quicker C) easier to train to a desired level. So, I always get the first evo where possible :D.
Hope I answered your question in a round about way lol.
Yes, thanks. I usually try to evolve Pokemon as soon as they are able. Working on Eevees at the moment having got all the stones required for the last three. My newly hatched Eevee went to Vaporeon at Lv 1. So far Umbreon is my favourite (mine is currently Lv 37),
Back to the (dreaded?) Safari Zone. Whether visiting in the middle of the night had any bearing on the fact that I had my best run there ever I don't know, but this morning things were well and truly "business as usual" i.e abyssmal catch rates. Is there any possiblilty that time of day has an effect on catch rates (for those Pokemon that can appear at any time?
I abandoned my run through (saved just before entering, having sorted the areas I wanted). I will revisit tonight to see if it does make any difference at all... unless anyone knows any better of course.
I am making my first attempt at breeding (ever) and I have noticed that my experience does not meet my expectations, given the breeding guides that I have read online. I am playing Heart Gold.
Specifically, I am referring to the Power {Item} method of passing down IVs. I am trying to breed a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP, Defense, and Sp. Defense. I have a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP and Defense and I have a second Horsea with 31 IVs in Sp. Defense and Speed. I give the first a Power Belt and the second a Power Band and leave them in the Day Care.
So far, I have breed 10 Pokemon and 3 of them did not receive their Defense and Sp. Defense IVs. The guides that I have read indicate that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down, but it does not happen every time.
Just to make sure that I am not crazy, I made a Ditto with all 31s and shipped it over with sendpkm.py, equipped it with a Power Band and breed it with the first Horsea. The first pokemon that came out indicated a "Mischievous" characteristic, which would indicate to me that the first 31 IV in the hierarchy is Sp. Attack and the Power Belt was ignored (i.e., given the characteristic, I would expect that if HP, Att., or Def were 31, their characteristic would preempt the Sp Att characteristic).
So, are the guides wrong that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down?
Specifically, I am referring to the Power {Item} method of passing down IVs. I am trying to breed a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP, Defense, and Sp. Defense. I have a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP and Defense and I have a second Horsea with 31 IVs in Sp. Defense and Speed. I give the first a Power Belt and the second a Power Band and leave them in the Day Care.
So far, I have breed 10 Pokemon and 3 of them did not receive their Defense and Sp. Defense IVs. The guides that I have read indicate that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down, but it does not happen every time.
Just to make sure that I am not crazy, I made a Ditto with all 31s and shipped it over with sendpkm.py, equipped it with a Power Band and breed it with the first Horsea. The first pokemon that came out indicated a "Mischievous" characteristic, which would indicate to me that the first 31 IV in the hierarchy is Sp. Attack and the Power Belt was ignored (i.e., given the characteristic, I would expect that if HP, Att., or Def were 31, their characteristic would preempt the Sp Att characteristic).
So, are the guides wrong that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down?
To be honest, I can't see why this is happening, however, I'm also not the biggest expert on IV's and co. I know the basic knowledge, and that's about it. My common sense input, would be to ask if you are using action replay, with a code for faster hatching? I've found that some codes that you enter, may have side effects on how they affect the game. (ie: When I played Diamond, all I had was the Pokemon Modifier code that I got from a quiet website. When I encountered a Metapod, it used flamethrower, for absolutely no reason. My two cents, are that, try it without AR, if you are using one. Good Luck! :)
yes you have to use a specific Arcues. the one you us is from the Pokemon Movie 12 event for the Arceus but that event is now over. because the event is over you might have to resort to cheat but i don't recommend it. you might mess up your game and/or make it less fun.
Blue Ap - Dry
Red Ap - Spicy
Pink Ap - Sweet
Green Ap - Bitter
Yellow Ap - Sour
Black Ap - Everything
White Ap -
Sorry, I forgot what the White Ap is, but I think it is the same as the Black Ap.
I sugest you using the White Ap or Black Ap, but one of those two will decrease one stat.
Held items won't work with foreign Pokemon + native Pokemon due to the Masuda Method.
Held Items will only work with Pokémon that are from your Region. If you are using the US Version of HG/SS, then the Pokémon you want to breed with Held Items will have to be from the US Version of HG/SS. The same goes for any Pokémon from the EU and JPN Version of HG/SS, they must be from the same Region.
Held items will not work in passing down nature or IVs if the two Pokemon meet the requirements for the Masuda method (IE one Pokemon from the native language/region of the cart, one foreign to it).
As far as shinies are concerned there's no concrete number of tries just the probability. So even if the chance of a shiny was one in two, you could well find up to (and in excess of) 10 normal coloured pokemon before you find a single shiny.
As for the code being used, no it shouldn't effect it. So long as the code in itself only effects the steps taken to hatch. If the code messes with the PID/SID/IVs etc of the egg then it will effect if the pokemon is shiny or not. However, as far as I know, the quick hatch code does only change the steps needed to hatch the egg.
The power items DO still work, just there's a 50% chance that it'll be passed down. Odds are its not following the odds of 50/50 and is doing more or less then what you wish. The only hold item in breeding that doesn't work with the masuda method is the everstone. Also, there isn't a concrete number which you can breed to and get a shiny, there is a mere probability of 1/2048 which is a drastic improvement from the normal 1/8192.
Sorry if this is too long for short questions, but I didn't think it deserved a thread of its own.
I really am unable to find the answer to this. If someone can check by using a backed up save, then that would be very nice. (I don't have a flashcart)
So, here's the question: For the Arceus event with the level 1 Dialga/Palkia/Giratina, can you still repeat the event for multiple legends if the first Arceus used to activate the event was a Hall of Origin Arceus (From Platinum, I think).
Everywhere I looked, it said that you can repeat the event by using TRU, and then HoO. However, nothing I found told me anything about doing it the other way. I accidentally saved inside the chamber right before the event and activated it for the first time with a HoO Arceus, and I am trying to RNG manipulate for a Naive 30/30/31/30/27/30 w/ Hidden Power Fire Giratina for the mixed set, but I forgot that HG/SS uses a different method than DPPt, and I haven't done HGSS before. I'd like to get some practice and make sure that I'm able to RNG for this great set, but I'd like to make sure that I can first. It is fairly urgent, so the faster someone can find out, the better. I do NOT want to hack or pokesav anything in, so please don't bother recommending it.
No, you can only activate the Arceus Event with the Movie Arceus. You can not use the HoO (Hall of Origin) Arceus or TRU Arceus for this Event.
After using the Movie Arceus, you can not use any other Movie Arceus even if it has a different OT/ID No.
Ok then, after you used the HoO (Hall of Origin) Arceus, you can not use any other HoO (Hall of Origin) Arceus.
The only way you can redo the Arceus Event is by using the Redo Arceus Event AR code.
Gin
Aug 2nd, 2010, 02:21 AM
You can easily redo the event without using an AR code by using the TRU and thenthe HoO or movie. In fact, I've even heard of getting all 3 with 3 different encounter types. What I want to know is whether you can still redo the event if the first Arceus used was a HOo. RASN, either read my posts and respond correctly, or don't bother replying to me.
you should consider leveling it up more so you can evolve it. when i played the old silver version and up until now, i make sure to make my pokemon "at least" 10 levels higher than the gym leader i'll face(true). so by leveling your pokemon drastically, you will be able to get rid of future problems such as that.
and about lugia. i'm sorry to tell the lugia in the game cannot face them. because lugia cannot be caught until after the 8th gym. because for some reason the remake of the game added up certain spices on catching the legendary of the game respectively. the kimono girls are needed to dance for them. what a let down huh? anyway, just level it up like what i said ok.
ok so so suicune runs then goes to cianwood as you said and goes to mt. mortar as riolu said. then after that it will leave johto and be in vermillion near the port where you first arrived with SS.ship thing. when it will head to route 14 it is somewhere near the roads south of lavender and east of fuschia or easier...it's south of those unnecessary fences. then head to misty in cape coz she's out on a date and not being a gym leader. then after you battle her go back to where you found her suicune will be there.(disclaimer-this info is not my own and it is based on this well know site)
and your other question....i'm not suggesting you repeat your game again coz it's tiring. so don't miss encounters like suicune or this before ending the game so it won't bother you. so yeah if you start a new game green man will be at your nearest pokemart. so you have the shiny pichu and went to ilex shrine to get notched ear pichu right?
Ok, so i was really happy to see your post coz' it made me want to try out what can be than about this.
So as of now i have gone to shinto ruins 2 times and managed to get Palkia and Dialga(coz i want to save Giratina for last). So i got the japanese Arceus(This Arceus made the Palkia) and i pokesaved an Arceus to make it look as if it were caught in hall of origin in Platinum coz' i cannot trade my hall of origin(HOO) Arceus in my Soulsilver coz it's kinda late here in my place so im kinda sleepy. Anyways im just not sure if the pokesaved arceus (just like i did) and the real HOO arceus and together with your movie arceus will be enough for you to make it there 3 times. Or if you manage to get another arceus from another event coz i think there were 4......the MICHINA(actually there's 2 of that), TRU and the japanese just like mine... i dunno if having different sources of arceus makes it count as another arceus that will send you to shinto ruins.
Just to make it easy, the pokesaved arceus that i had which made me go back to shinto ruins was obviously the only one that was successful. I tried various things with the other arceus(OT, ID , Secret Id , place met or that thing just above when editing movesets.....ex.sinnoh platinum or johto soulsilver or anything) so don't bother to make another pokesaved arceus coz it will not work again.
Anyways, during your first attempt to S.ruins with arceus, there will be person there in alphs and talk to you then your character follows the man to ruins of alphs then immediately you will be in the S.ruins. So cynthia is there and babbles about things (fastforward) then you chose your desired pokemon and went back to johto.(this is how i remember the 1st encounter and of course you have already done this bit)
The second attempt would be like this; when you go to alphs with the HOO arceus(or in my case i used the pokesaved one), the man will not tell you anything about S.ruins. Instead go to down to where he took you or the main ruins of alphs. Once you go down you will be immediately transported again to S.ruins only this time cynthia is not around so go choose your legendary dragon in the respective circle sign thing there. once you have chosen your dragon you will again be back in johto again.
So like i said i have only gone in S.ruins as of now but i'll try to test the remaining theories so anyone capable can access Shinto Ruins 3 times.
I hope this post was helpful to you.
yes it does help actually..thank you...but I am correct t in saying the US movie Arcues and the TRU arceus are one in the same, right?...
But I think I figured it out...the reason the arceus event only works twice is because the event was programmed to only work with a single "fateful encounter" arceus and a single "wild encounter" arceus (i.e. HoO)...thats it...any other "fateful encounter" arceus no matter when it came out will not work if you already used one...just like any other "wild encounter" arceus wont work...
as a test someone try to catch an arceus in the wild in another game, trade it over and see if it works after you've already done the HoO arceus
another useful test would be to use an arceus randomly caught in the wild before the HoO arcues is used...
Just to try another theory if ever the real legitimate HoO arceus can send me to shinto ruins the third time. Worth noting that I edited the thing with Pokesav before it hatched. But I didn't touch the hex and I rolled a new PID for it... so if it's a legality thing it has that... what's the deal? For all intents and purposes the game should realize that it's the mr. pokemon togepi.
I got retail copy of Pokemon Soul Silver, EZ-flash IV ( This one (http://www.ds-lite.com/img/ez4/ezflash4_small.jpg) ) with Emerald and Leaf Green on it. Is there any way to migrate pokemon from Leaf Green\Emerald ROM to my retail Soul Silver?
Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to EV train my pokemon, I just wanted to know which EVs should I train for each pokemon for maximum effectiveness as well as what pokemon to train on?
lvl56 Lugia: Extrasensory, Aeroblast, Hydro Pump, Rain Dance
lvl59 Typhlosion: Blast Burn, Strength, Lava Plume, Flamethrower
lvl59 Raikou: Crunch, Thunder Fang, Spark, Discharge
lvl52 Entei: Flamethrower, Fire Fang, Stomp,
lvl58 Gyrados: Waterfall, Aqua Tail, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam
lvl59 Dragonite: Slam, Aqua Tail, Dragon Rush, Surf
Also, when my Typhlosion was lvl52 he was much more powerful than my current Entei. Why's that or is it just my imagining?
Also, I want to get Suicune in Kanto, which pokemon should I get rid of? (Assuming they're all the same level) Or not get rid of any?
I know my team is pretty water/dragon/fire heavy, who do you recommend I replace and for what? If i wanted a gengar, do I get rid of Typhlosion or Entei? Is it worth it to get rid of Gyrados for Suicune?
For EV Training, it depends on what you want to use a specific Pokemon for. It doesn't matter if a Pokemon is a Legendary or not to be stronger than the other.
Your Typhlosion maybe stronger than your Entei due to it's Nature, IV's and EV's.
Only you can decide on which Pokemon should be replaced with Suicune, but I would replace Entei with Suicune.
Edit:
Lugia is mainly a Special Attacker, so you can EV Train its Sp. Atk and Sp. Def along side its Speed.
Typlosion is a Special Attacker as well, so EV Train its Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Def and Speed.
Dragonite varies as it can do many things, so do whatever you want with it.
Raikou is a Special Attacker, so EV Train its Sp. Atk, Def and Speed.
Suicune is a Defender, so EV Train its HP, Sp. Def, and Speed.
Gyarados is a Physical Attacker, so EV Train its Atk, Sp. Def and Speed.
You should have a look at Smogon (http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon)
You could do what riolu says, or you could indeed take a peek at smogon to see what they say. But honestly in game it really doesn't matter a whole lot, and with some of the movesets you're running the EVs won't help a lot anyway.
EVs do play a huge factor in the competitive scene for sure, but just do what you want in-game my friend :D.
If you're thinking about taking the team to WiFi, then you're really going to want to re-evalute the movesets you've chosen, as spamming three attacks of the same type is just too easily walled. You want to be thinking about A) hitting as many types of pokemon as possible B) directly hurting the pokemon's counters C) a move that can raise the effectiveness of the pokemon you're using.
The exact same applie to EVs. Can you A) out speed notable threats? B) Can you live an attack from a counter? C) is the chosen EV spread the most effective it could have for what YOU want it to do.
I dont believe that there is a way to delete phone numbers.
The Red Scale is actually obtained right after the battle with the Red Gyarados. You're thinking of getting an Exp. Share directly from the lottery, not the Red Scale. But your right about giving it to Mr. Pokémon.
My question: Is there a guide somewhere with a comprehensive list of items found by the Dowsing MCHN (Itemfinder)? Pokéarth isn't that specific with the exact locations.
Bulbapedia has a pretty exhaustive list of items on each route/city's page.
What is the purpose of the NPC on the top floor of Violet City's Pokemon Center? He/she is standing on the west side of the building near the stairs.
I have a question no one else has been able to answer, anywhere I go. Can anyone please explain to me why the Soulsilver rom and the actual cartridge itsels, lokcs or freezes up so much. Am I only allowed to have a certain amount turned on at once, or do I need to activate it just once and then turn off the code ? If I turn if off after I activite it, will the effect keep going until I leave the area I'm in or reload my game ? A friend of mine who plays on the rom version doesn't think the games are coded properly. If I need a master code for it like I do the Ruby/Saphire/Emerald etc. Versions, what would it be ?
For both of them I used the Action Replay codes:
Max Money
100% Catching Rate
Wild Nature Modifier
Random Pokemon Encounters
All Medicine
All Pokeballs
All Bag Items
I just got soul silver 2 days ago, and I really want the events i missed out on.
I have looked around the forums and if i look correctly, there is a way to still get the events themself, correct? Now if i am right with this so far, they can't be transferred through wifi like the sendpokemon. I would need a flashcart. I don't know anything about them, or what they are to be honest. Does anyone have a link to where i can learn about all this, or explain it a little bit. And how after i get the cart, that I can use it to access the events. Again, this is all assuming I can still get the events this way!
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
You can get the pkm files (individual pkm) through sendpkm or a similar program. See this thread for more details http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?11627-Competitive-Pokemon-GTS-Distribution-Thread
If you wish to actually put Wondercards onto your game save, you'll need an AR or flash cart.
Can sudowoood be found shiny? I have been soft resetting for almost a day now. I've decided to catch it twice to see if their IDs would be the same, and they are. Does that mean he is predetermined at the beginning of the game?
Are you catching it twice with an AR code? Maybe that's the problem.
either way, soft-resetting without doing any RNG abuse might take weeks, if not months. It's a painfully daunting task. I'd recommend breeding for a shiny Sudowoodo instead. If you don't want to bother with RNG abuse, at least make your chances go up a bit and use the Masuda Method (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Masuda_method).
no, im not rng abusing. i dont fully understand it, and i want to get all my shinnies legit. i'm not using an ar code. i started noticing that females were popping up in a row and decided just to check its id, and they were the same. i'm am annoyed with soft resetting over and over, but if i know one will eventually pop up, i can go a little longer.
so if i were to say keep soft resetting, eventually he will be shiny right?
i definitely would like to breed with the masuda method, just need to track down a foreign eevee.
Ok, but RNG isn't cheating. No external device will ever interact with your game save.
The "id" is your trainer ID #. Of course they'll be the same.
Eventually, or you can just do the Masuda method via breeding which gives you a much better chance.
well now i just feel stupid for thinking the id was the pokemon's id! lol! I guess i have to spend some time trying to figure out the RNG and the ids. As well as the EVs and Pokerus! There is so much to learn! lol!
Does anyone know where I can find a good walkthrough guide an image of each area, Pokemon found in each area, and a general walkthrough of game events? I've found many on Google but none with all three, in particular it's hard to find one with images. Something similar to the official game guide would be great.
You should try the HGSS walkthrough of Psypokes; it's filled with images, information about wild Pokémon encounters and of course, the major events of the game. I hope it is what you are looking for. ;)
Hello. I have a question here. I've noticed that when a Pokemon the opposing trainer uses does NOT possess a move that can affect your Pokemon out in any way are either forced to retreat or if it is the last Pokemon, keep spamming a move that does nothing. However, the behaviour seems awfully strange for Red. When I had my Lapras out, I used Surf to take his Charizard down to red HP. Then Red RETREATED his Charizard and sent out his Venusaur to take the incoming Ice Beam that was supposed to finish off the Charizard. Heh heh... anyways, I'm rather confused here. Normally a trainer does not switch out their Pokemon unless given the conditions mentioned above, then why would Red switch out his Charizard who had things that could hurt Lapras to send out a Venusaur? Can anybody shed some light here? Are there other conditions that affect the AI's decision for switching out a Pokemon? Thank you.
Do not expect an all-covering answer from my side, but I thought it has at least something to do with the 'smartness' of a specific Trainer. I am no expert on the subject or something, but while playing all games, I got the feeling some Trainers always switch, because 'they like to switch', rather than they are in a problematic situation you mentioned above. I do not know if that makes any sense, but stronger Trainers switch too, according to my experiences. Karen usually likes to switch in her Houndoom to get a Flash Fire boost, and in Platinum, Cynthia frequently switched in her Spiritomb (off course, when she had the chance earlier to switch her for another Pokémon). In Cynthia's case, it has something to do with all those resists of her Pokémon. But, beside stronger Trainers, I thought some in-game Trainers are well-known switchers too... although I am afraid I cannot give you an example right know. :\
Well, when editing Trainers, you got an option for the smartness (per Pokémon, I believe), so maybe switching tactically is included in that too. And there is many data left which is unknown (to PP's ROM editor at least), so eventually it is some value which is not fully discovered.
Anyway, beside that smartness story, Trainers do not only switch when they cannot do something. I think Red would switch tactically on Lapras' Surf and hit it with Frenzy Plant or what, but not every decision of them is always to be called 'smart'. ^^ Although you do not see it often, I am very sure Gymleaders/Elite Four Trainers/Champions can switch without your aforementioned conditions.
wraith89
Sep 18th, 2011, 09:52 PM
@ Sunny: Karen did something stupid. Houndoom uses Nasty Plot, Feraligatr uses Surf; Houndoom's health is in the orange zone. Karen RECALLS her Houndoom instead of outright destroying my weakened Feraligatr who was orange HP from previous skirmishes. I don't think switching necessarily makes these trainers any smarter than normal trainers; or perhaps even dumber :/
I just want to know the conditions. I don't think they just switch randomly. And if you battle in Shift mode, the trainers with high AI values or whatnot tend to bring out a Pokemon with the MOVE to hit super effective on your Pokemon, despite whether it is weak to your own or not, such as "Elite Four Flint is about to send out Infernape, will Trainer switch Pokemon?" when you have a Floatzel out, while Flint might as well brought out something like Lopunny or Drifblim (this is DP, not Plat, for example).
I found another case where in Platinum a trainer with the three Kanto Eeveelutions had a Jolteon out against my Flareon... and he RETREATS and sends out Vaporeon. What in the world? I mean, sure trainers should be able to switch but why at specific times? I don't see them switching out to a Kingler while my Typhlosion is up against a Victreebel (Ace Trainer Gaven).
