    Yeah, there were a few.

      Reveal hidden contents

-Instantly caught the first Pikachu so I didn't run into an issue there.

-Shadow Misdreavus kept spamming Shadow Scream onto my Beedrill and Bagon, which only did around 5 damage each, so I assumed it was fine, then it used shadow bully 5 turns later and killed Bagon.

-Lovrina was interesting primarily because Shadow Beedrill ended up not getting a poison type move. Took a while, wasn't really too hard as I had intimidate spam from Mightyena and Electrike.

-Miror B battle was interesting because surf and shadow surf spam killed anything that didn't resist it. I used Shroomish and Clefairy as my two shadows, but then when attempting to status the Ludicolo, Shroomish took a Shadow Swim + Surf and then entered Rage mode so I couldn't heal it. Caught the Ludicolo next turn.

-Pyrite Colosseum made me drop a lot of my team members because they weren't able to do much. Aerodactyl and Porygon2 were the only ones who could carry hard.

-Found a level 11 Dratini, it kept spamming Dragon Rage as I had no fairies, so I had to kill it as everyone was 2HKOd. ):

-Shadow Mawile battle haxed me really hard. Missed a lot of moves and suffered attack drops from Shadow Fang as well as low damage rolls.

-Hardest part is finding a solid team! I want to use so much but you can only take 6 with you. I kinda secretly hope I get lucked so I have the opportunity to use more stuff. Phenac will be interesting as I like a lot of stuff there unlike ONBS, really.

It really does sound tough but at least it seems doable so far and there are a lot of good shadow pokemon to choose from at least!

Say does anyone know how to evolve Feebas? I'm assuming since trading is not possible in this game then there's another way. o.O

If you're on v1.0.3 then you can update to v1.0.4 (which is compatible with v1.0.3 save files) and in v1.0.4 it evolves at level 20. In previous versions I forgot to change the evolution method so unfortunately you'll have to wait for shadow milotic. Sorry about that :)

Ah, cool! Good to know. I don't plan on using it right now but I'll take care of that if I get to it.

For the nuzlocke rules, I expected XG to be challenging so I allowed catching of all shadows(and I'm not releasing things, so I'm keeping them for orre later hopefully.).

I allowed catching from pokespots using only the first 10 you find(as I'm still doing a "blind" playthrough, I'm using snacks still but just not going to use them for purify chamber nor on the playthrough.). I also allowed a maximum cap of two shadows per party, but I ended up keeping a lot of shadows from catch(e.g I intentionally kept Bagon shadow until the end of Shadow Lab and Ludicolo until the end of ONBS.). I got blessed with some good natures and I'm using a team I didn't expect I'd be using. It's going pretty well, only two deaths, and I'm attempting not to overgrind.

Sounds good. Have there been any particular challenges so far?

Nuzlocking through right now, bit of a challenge! Finished ONBS with two deaths total. Mainly posting to report a bug: as wild Pokemon are so averse I played the rule that you can only use the first 10 snacks- in this I caught an Omanyte which had a shadow move. Is this intentional?

Whoops. I'll have that fixed up for the next update. I'll also ran some code to scan through and make sure no other pokemon have shadow moves in their movesets. Omanyte was the only one. Shadow Shake was a very late addition and I forgot to double check whichever move it replaced had been removed properly. You should be able to delete it and teach another move if you wish to do so.

P.S. Good luck on your nuzlocke! Let me know how it goes. I'm planning to do mine soon as well. XG is pretty tough though so watch out!

What ruleset did you settle on in the end?

wow! this update looks really good! am really excited to play.

question: i think we discussed this, but have you looked into the save editor? probably not a high priority thing right now, but could be interesting for stuff like orre colosseum. thanks in advance [:

I can definitely do it. However, it'll be a tiny little bit of work and I'd have to redo it for each update of XG since all the data is currently hard coded. I've reached out to it's creator @Tux for help with making it easier to customise. Even if that doesn't work out I'll just do it the hard way. :)

v1.0.3, but it doesn't matter if there is no way to get one in this version as it is, I will happily just use another water type. I just wanted to know before I started to search for a feebas and find out I couldn't actually evolve it when i found it (because I am using save states instead of the memory card).

I've updated the download link in the original post with a download for v1.0.4 in which feebas evolves at level 20 and is compatible with v1.0.3 saves :)

I am really enjoying the new updates so far, but i was wondering, when I eventually find a feebas at the oasis pokespot, how i will evolve this because the documentation states that it will evolve from maximum beauty. I did not think beauty could be raised in the original X D, so how will this be possible to get a milotic?

Hmm I forgot about that. Which version are you playing on?

Hey man I'm pretty sure I've found a glitch. Whenever I enter the room to collect my reward after beating Area 1 of Mt. Battle my character will not move. The game isn't frozen because his idle animation still plays, but I cannot move or open any menus. This has happened twice. I just saved after being the area leader and will use the Abra teleport to get back to the base, but I can't get the reward. Just a heads up!

Thank you, I'll look into it :)

Edit: Looks like I messed up the script somehow. It should only be a problem with zone 1 though. The rest seem to be fine.

Edit 2: I've now uploaded a new patch for v1.0.4 which fixes the issues. Sorry about that :$

I'm having some troubles accessing my save file from Dolphin. When I try to export that save file it says Dolphin finds 0 save files. Instead should I input the save file from the old copy (1.01)  when I open the new copy?

You don't need to do anything to the save file. Simply play on the new iso instead of the old one. You can just delete the old one and put the new one in the same folder.

Great, such a good job. I'll back in business in 7 days normally.

Nobody is interested by dumping the Bingo Pokemon of X D ?

Plus, I saw yesterday a hacker pretending to got Munchlax in X D, I think we have to investigate about.

Edit: Apparently the Pokemon is only half-programmed. I mean it has no sprite but a base stat, an ability ... but no attack. When you try to use it the game crashes (certainly because of the lack of battle sprite). It's really weird, like if it was planned and abandonned in progress.

    First Pokémon is Munchlax (019E)
    H3YN-X39E-D9B3A
    8FJ8-UP7Q-TPTXR
    DGAC-KFHW-GD0N4

Munchlax's data is pretty much just its name and it's cry. It's data is only used when generating pokespot encounters so I wouldn't even consider it "half programmed". It wasn't abandonned. It was never intended to be anything more than it was and the little data there is really just a placeholder so that when you enter the pokespot it knows to run the munchlax script instead of generating an encounter ?

On an unrelated note I managed to load a beta version of one of the rooms in the ss libra. It's completely empty though so not that interesting unfortunately.

@StarsMmd Wondering if you have any documentation for the level up moves of the Pokemon you can obtain in the hack, trying to build a team to aim for and some of the stuff requires Stones, which I know are kinda dodgy in the actual games for nuking level up moves.

If you could send something like that my way, I would appreciate it, since it's not in the documentation folder.

This was already possible to by using the obtainable pokemon list to find what is obtainable and then searching for those pokemon in the stats documentation. However this is really tedious so I have uploaded the original download link with added documentation which includes the same data from the stats but filtered to only include pokemon you can get in-game (including their evolutions).

made an account just to compliment how awesome this is. this was one of my favorite games as a kid and getting to replay it with new shadow pokemon has been a BLAST. even got myself a shiny Torchic, now a shiny Combusken. ;) thanks for being so awesome!

Thank you. That means a lot to me. I'm really glad you like it and I hope you enjoy the rest of the game :)

Since You've told me to start everything from scratch its the only game that I cant save my game in. After completing the simulation in the beginning I was able to save then but when I reset and come back to the main menu screen it says that theres no file present. Its a constant loop when I try to make a new file.

And what type of details do u need

Details like any steps you took before starting. Did you change to an officially released version of Dolphin in the end? Did you use any fancy AR codes? Did you close the game before deleting the memory card data? Did you try it multiple times?

  14. 45 minutes ago, jumpylaxs123 said:

I've tried deleting all data to the point there is no trace of data left however it still has the same issue. This screenshot was taken right after I saved my game 2 minutes ago. After resetting the game claims to not have a File on the memory card. I don't have any save states and I play this game normally with just the memory card directory.

    pokemon XG screenshot 3.png

I can't figure out the problem. Can you give more details?

My apologies for these post but I ran into another issue which regards the memory card unable to save after starting the game. I honestly keep receiving new issue every time I resolve another but what should I do about this problem

    Pokemon XG Screenshot 2.png

Pokemon games tend to have a lot of mechanisms for preventing cheating which includes checking that save files are coherent. It looks like you loaded up a save state which doesn't match the memory card (I presume it's something to do with changing to a different version of Dolphin to fix the previous issue). Since you're still at the beginning I'd suggest just starting again without the save state and you'll just have to do the intro again.

    Hi.

First I'd like to say this is a Fantastic mod! i've been playing it on my Wii starting in the last week and have been loving it. I just finished the first major portion in Phenac city and love what you did with the boss fight there. I've also had no problems on the Wii, once i got the Iso to load correctly.

Question: Is the version you just released (1.0.3) save-compatible with 1.0.2 or 1.0.1? I really don't want to start over but I'd really like the new content also.

    Thanks, I appreciate it :)

Unfortunately the save files aren't compatible between versions. While they aren't entirely unusable, they will cause minor issues here and there mainly because the shadow pokemon data is saved once you start a new save file and so you'll be playing the new version with outdated shadow pokemon data. This screws up their moves and levels and stuff. The latest version isn't that different though. It mainly fixes a few rare bugs but there isn't much new content.

Is there really no other way to prevent that error from appearing again it takes the fun out of battling if the error constantly reappears

It seems to be a problem with unstable versions of Dolphin 5. It should work fine on Dolphin 4 as well as the officially released versions of Dolphin 5. Hope that helps. :)

Hey man just wanted to say I played 0.9.7 all the way through last summer and loved it. Checked back a few days ago to find 1.0.1 and put 10 hours into a save, and now I see that 1.0.3 is coming out so I guess it's time for yet another new one haha. Really glad you're putting so much work into this game because GoD is one of my favorite games ever. Keep up the good work man :)

Thanks for the kind words. I'm really glad to get to share one of my favourite games with everyone. :)

v1.0.3 is now available for download.

    Stream's going up.

Edit: The frames aren't with me today, I'll wait a few hours before going live.

Edit 2: Going to attempt to go live again.

Edit 3: Stream's done, going to probably wait until the weekend for the update to come out before I start a new save, since the one I have isn't 100% completable. Give me a shout when it goes live.

    @StarsMmd

Sorry for the delay. I will be uploading 2 versions today. One which allows you to fight mirror b on v1.0.1 and fixes the shadow room glitch (the other minor bugs like the intimidate issue will still remain though) and v1.0.3 which has a few minor updates and fixes all the other bugs found in v1.0.1 but requires a new save file.

The glitch mentioned above still happens to me, despite having Dolphin 5.0 and a 1.0.1 patch. Although I still have a 1.0 save file so that might be the case.

I will be releasing a better version today but new save files are recommended for new versions :)

    Hi again,

I'm still playing on the 0.9.8 version and have encountered a very annoying glitch that is making me consider starting over with version 1.0.1 and I'm wondering if it has been addressed in the new version.  The glitch happens when I sometime successfully snag a Pokemon and the next Pokemon on the opponents team is never sent out.  This has lead to a few endless battles.  I've attempted to reproduce the glitch and a few time and now I can get it to consistently happen.  I think it's due to the AI attempting to switch the Shadow Pokemon on the same turn that you succeed in snag the Pokemon resulting in either the opponent only being able to send one Pokemon out at a time for the rest of the battle or never sending out another Pokemon.  I've found the glitch to be more common in the later game when Shadow Pokemon started to use move that dropped their own stats.

Lastly, thank you for making this hack.  It has been wonderful!

Yes it is a glitch that @PinkOnion first highlighted to me. It is exactly as you thought. When you snag a pokemon on the turn it was meant to be switched out and the opponent only has one pokemon left then they will not send it out because the game already believes it will be switched in but then the turn for that switch in never happens. Usually this just means it becomes a 2 vs 1 battle but once you knock out the remaining pokemon they should send out the last pokemon as normal. I've never seen it lead to an endless battle though.

In the newer versions I have made it so that new pokemon are sent out at the end of the turn instead of immediately after a pokemon faints so the conditions for the glitch can no longer occur.

Okay I may just be being stupid but whenever i go to patch the freshly downloaded GoD ISO using nups,  it says the patch applied but it didn't. Nothing changed in the game. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the v 1.0.1 patch not compatable with NUPS?

I haven't used NUPS myself but maybe it saves the patched version separately from the original and you're opening the original?

So I'm not sure if this thread is dead or not, but I'm getting this error on the first Cipher Peon to the right in Cipher Key Lair. I'm using Dolphin 5.0 emulator. Any advice?

Yeah there was a problem with the animation for one of the shadow moves which gengar knows so a lot of people have had this problem but I have created a fix which I'll be uploading tomorrow. ;)

Aight, I might wait then.  I did notice a similar bug as the guy before me posted, not sure if it's a thing in the romhack, or if I have to delete the physical save file or what, but yeah that's a thing.

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to add a few things and work on some nicer documentation. Everything will be fixed tomorrow :)

Yooo I see version 1.0.1 is out.  Gonna start a new game on this, thanks for all the work you did for this game Stars!

    You're most welcome.

I should mention though, there are a couple of rare but game breaking bugs still in 1.0.1. I have literally just finished my last exam though so I'll be able to really focus on XG now. I've already fixed most of the issues and I'll be releasing the minor update on saturday. Up to you if you want to wait or not though :)

I've also ran into an issue on the older version regarding a certain Oasis Poke Spot Pokemon trying to Nasty Plot 4 times and crashing the emulator on the 4th Nasty Plot, but that issue doesn't seem to exist on the newer version.

Alright, thanks for letting me know. I'll take a look. Was it activating justified btw?
