  2. <p><p><p><p><p><p>Exactly my point. And to be honest, the research and scientific evidence isn't there to prove or disprove either theory. Until we have that, people need to not get their panties in a wadd and be jerks to eachother. Immature fights over details are part of the reason I'm largely cynical towards people. [ Don't get me started on my views of the world. It's a dark and depressing place in my mind. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue.png" alt=":P" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ]</p></p></p></p></p></p>

  3. My bone with Apple: They control everything about their users. Their kinda like a greedy politician. They sell you a decent product. okay. But then they release an update, on a new product. ... okay ... You can't get this update without the entire new product. ... sell my current product? Yeah, let's try that ... [ nobody wants -- it's now old ] Okay...maybe I can fork over another arm and leg for the new updates... nope, not gonna work. [ later ] oh hey, that app looks cool! What? I can't install it? WHY NOT ?! ... oh. It requires the new update for me to use it. My bone with Microsoft: They try ( and fail ) at doing what Apple does. For example, their PE file format is the only thing that keeps us from being able to run versions of Office on other OS's without a special package or release. Also -- their .NET thing is bullcrap. They want to sell you specialized hardware that makes .NET run faster than native processor code. Their Windows 8 release is also slightly controlling in my experience ( However, Microsoft did do a better job, and made me not mind them having control for once because they designed a product worth using in this instance ). It removed my boot entry for WindowsXP, and made it near impossible to install Ubuntu ( what I am running now ). It also kind of forces you to use Windows live or Hotmail. Mac-Hardware: Don't get it. You're just buying a label most of the time. You can get the same thing as a PC much cheaper. PC: Get this. It's much easier to ( legally ) perform maintenance on as there aren't a million .5mm screw holes to get to the parts Apple is afraid of you messing with. (; Personally, as a developer I enjoy Linux and Windows ( XP or 7 -- I might try 8 again when my hardware is better able to handle it ) Linux just works. Most distros come pre-loaded with python, g++, gcc and more. It's also very secure in comparison to Windows. Also, for non-tech-savy people, it's nearly impossible to break without just blatantly deleting crucial things. It's also a free OS most of the time ( there are people who have built Linux distros and are selling them ) and it is just as user friendly as OS X if you want it to be. Windows works well, and has lots of software that works greatly with it. For example -- Windows 7's version of Explorer is great, and very intuitive. I prefer it to Ubuntu's Unity or even it's old interface. It also has Photoshop and many other things that work greatly with it ( as well as field-specific software like Autocad ) So you really shouldn't use Mac if you ever have any desire to learn and experiment. You should use Windows for professional things most of the time. You should use Linux if you prefer it to Windows and are worried about security.
  4. <p><p><p><p><p><p>I know for a fact Evolution does not mean we came from Monkeys. I also know it doesn't really disprove anything in the Bible. The Bible has no record of <em>every</em> creature God created. The Bible also says nothing about light bulbs, and yet we still have them today. Does that make them blasphemous? So there's no reason they can't co-exist. The only reason that they 'can't' is because some people don't look into the details enough. Atheists are so concerned about being right half the time ( bare with my being overly generic ) and Christians are so busy being offended that nobody actually takes time to stop and think there's nothing offending anybody. Darwin waited for a long time to release his book to avoid being persecuted by the Christian public because he knew it would happen. Pretty sound reasoning on his part, if you ask me. Ignorance will continue as long as people have minds that are closed.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

  6. Remove the border; it's too large, and it was actually the first thing I noticed. I doubt this is the effect you want. Otherwise, well done.
  7. Quite frankly I find my own mind and will more capable of forcibly changing itself than anything my parents have ever done. They say parents know best, I tend to disagree. I have managed my own grades much better since they've gotten off my back about it. Of course, they still don't want to give me credit where it's due, but the truth still stands. As of now-- I appreciate them for the things they do for me, and tell myself I'm willing to do the same thing. Unfortunately, my parents have dug their claws so far into the controlling and strict side of things I don't ever think I'll have a relationship with them that isn't a civil war or of any kind of influence outside of emotional stress. ** They are slightly responsible for me removing a large portion of my emotions outside of the ones associated with being cynical.
  8. Why can't both big-bang and the Bible be correct? My theory: ( call it short-thoughts and fantasy if you will -- just hear me out ) God is as Hindu's believe -- existence. So he always is, always was, and always will be. When he created the rest of the universe, he did so utilizing the big-bang ( which somehow stretched over the course of 6 days ). Am I the only one who finds it odd that with just a little bit of perspective, religions widely considered vastly different like Hinduism and Judaism can even share a commonality? For example, there are 3 main gods that I'm aware of in Hinduism, -- Christianity has the trinity. -- Nothing is more dangerous than a closed mind.

<p><p><p><p><p><p>I was thinking more along the lines of most people don't know what 'evolution' is.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>It's not monkeys turning into people; it's natural selection.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Technically, evolution is a <strong>bad</strong> thing; Mutants are surviving better and more</p></p></p></p></p></p>

  19. Quite frankly I find a large part of society to be mindless robots. What's worse that one of the biggest culprits of this crime is supposedly supposed to endorse individuality( *cough* America *cough* ). With that in mind, a large portion of the people who pass judgement on the Muslim/Islam religion don't know half the crap they spew out of their insolent mouths. I am a Christian ( no specific sub-group-- I just read the Bible and try to understand it. I do however, attend a Baptist church ), and proud of it. However, I'm not about to be so ignorant as to trash other religions. For example, I was having dinner with my mom and I quoted Buddha, ( Forgive my paraphrasing, I do it with my own religion too-- I mean no disrespect ) "Do not accept anything as truth until it agrees with your own beliefs and knowledge.". My mom blew up and started thinking I was worshiping the Buddha. Quit frankly, she doesn't realize the Buddha isn't really a god, and he even asked that his followers ( when he was branching from Hinduism ) to not worship him. Essentially: "Don't ask me about the gods, I don't know about them. I do understand people, though." I think a large part of what just happened between my mom and Buddhism can apply largely to what most people think about Muslim followers. The fact of the matter is that they are largely ignorant. For example, I saw somebody post about a woman concerned about her kid playing with dinosaurs. That's ridiculous, and ignorant of her. Dinosaurs probably did exist. My guess is that they probably existed before the flood, but that's irrelevant, and I don't know that. Regardless, even in the Christian religion, the Bible states that God created all creatures. So for her to call them blasphemous is silly( or whatever adjective she used ). -- But with all that said, my point: Do the opinions of ignorant people really matter? If they're that important, prove them wrong. Otherwise, live your days knowing there's not a whole lot you really can do to change their opinions and that they are wrong. If Fred thinks George is dumb, but George is building a < insert amazing machine here >, what does it matter to George that Fred thinks he's dumb? </rant> Maybe this was a tad off the topic's point, but I found it relevant.
  20. I ban you because I accidentally the whole day.
  21. Here's a good place to start? They might not exist.
  22. Hm...are you sure? Surely there's a way to survive traveling that fast! :\ Maybe. Okay, you're probably right. Yup. "OH CRAP! The EARTH is all the way OVER THERE! - chokes & dies - " Yes. Time == An array of existences. Each slightly different than the last in the series. ? I think that's what I got out of this. ^ This is the only post that makes me think there might be a possibility of time travel, but I highly doubt it depends on something as trivial as birth. Life is a bunch of cells. Cells are just a bunch of molecules with chemical reactions that tend to cause repetition ( reproduction ). Seriously people, listen to this guy. Actually, I think it was a train, and these clocks operated on nuclear decay, which is probably the most sensitive / accurate timing there is. What happens w/ DNA is that the DNA slowly unravels ( VERY slowly. ) and eventually you loose information. You also get a collection of bad cells in your bloodstream ( white blood cells that are either dead, or disfunctional )
  23. There's a problem with the concept of time travel. The law of conservation of matter / mass / energy. To go into the past: 1) Ctrl Z $x = md5($x) ( for you non-php informed, this assigns an irreversible ( and destructive ) encryption on x, then stores it in x. Effectively removing any evidence of the original x. ) -- 2nd law of thermodynamics. 2) You would essentially be creating matter wherever you arrive. OR you would be taking matter that was there. However it works, it can't possibly be good. 3) With #2 in mind, it would only make sense to be able to travel to a point where time machines already existed. So uh...redundancy? 4) You would have to make a time machine fit inside a time machine if you did not go along with #3 so as to get back 'home'. Which relies on time travel FORWARD to work. ------------------------------------------------------- To go into the future: 1) You're still creating, or taking matter and energy, which kills physics. 2) Events are un-certain; The future can't be determined. Thermodynamics says heat is random movement of particles. So at best, a super-super-super computer could generate a matrix of possibilities. A very, very large matrix. 3) -- In theory however, you can 'emulate' time travel, if you will. You can slow down the movement of your particles ( using the event horizon on from a black-hole ) while the rest of the world continues at 'normal speed'. The problem with this is that (A) you'll be pulled in and ripped apart to the black hole. and ( B ) To counteract A you need 'anti-matter' the size of a black-hole, which debatably exists, and is a very complicated science. I'm sure there's more, but I just showed you that time travel is not possible, with elementary `physics`. :l I want to get into real physics. >.<
  24. IE is plenty fast, but plain and simply, it is not compliant with the most recent web standards ( HTML5 ). For example, I don't believe it implements the border-radius tag in CSS3, or text-shadow. It uses CSS-hacks ( filter property ). It tries to force you to rely on activeX, and has annoying questions. It's easily hacked, and therefore insecure. The list goes on. BUT it remains: IE ( 8 and 9 especially ) have decent speeds. Chrome is nice. It is secure, has a great renderer ( webkit ). I believe it's near complete-compliance with HTML5, if I'm not mistaken. Has the best JS engine out there. Uses multi-threading, and shared memory. Multi-threading is nice, because that's part of the security. However, it's also a nice pain in the crack, because with all the processes, you end up consuming lots of memory with chrome, for only a few tabs being open. Don't even get me started on plugins, and such. Firefox is just okay in my opinion. Not terribly bad, or good. It has tons of plugins/add-ons ( could someone explain the difference? ) Unfortunately, Firefox has always made an impact on my system that makes it slow down significantly ( and consumes mucho memory, in my experience ). Opera is a nice in - between of Firefox and chrome as far as performance vs rendering. It has a little less support than chrome as far as HTML5 is concerned, but a little better performance than firefox. I can haz content. Safari probably runs great on a mac, but on my windows machines that have ever ran it, it's pretty slow to start up, and only mediocre once it's started. However, it does share the web-renderer with chrome, so I suppose it's not all that bad. Yup, that's pretty much it. I myself prefer to use Chrome.
