1. Fun Comments So far this is a nice list! I like the format too, reminiscent of Know Your Pokemon (which needs updating... but that's another thing)... Looking at this list really shows how few megas there are. Lots of wasted potential on others... Why is it my favourites are always so peculiar? Houndoom has an awesome design (wish it was normal evo, not mega... lame), but REQUIRES sun... X_X and Aerodactyl is more suited to a team player than an offensive threat, though it can be one... I wish there were more megas, ones that catered a little more to either forgotten Pokemon or Pokemon that could use an update. I'd love to see Mega Rampardos with speed boost. Actually, I'd like to see mega starters more. Emboar and Sceptile in particular. if Serperior or Sceptile became Grass/Dragon, that'd be cool, but I actually think Sceptile is more suited to become a Grass/Dark, though it can learn a few dragon moves, that's for sure. Perhaps if a Grass Dragon was made, it'd give them an excuse not to make an actual species... Some thoughts/opinions Would it be wrong to make some suggestions? You can take em as you will. if this thread became popular or whatnot each mega could have it's list of opinons from various players who share their thoughts on how they play megas. The problem with this is that some megas have a very particular use and would only work for surprise value. Or you could have a fun section talking for each mega talking about an overall opinion. I don't know. The Moment I respond to the thread's questions I'd choose anything but Blastoise (personal reasons), Scizor (bland style), Gengar (broken), Alakazam (meh), and the likes. I think I'd run some of the less obviously overpowered ones, such as Houndoom for personal reasons. I've never been too crazy about it's normal design, though it has grown on me in the competitive scene, and it suits me perfectly considering how ridiculously scrawny and twiggy I am. It just looks like a legit evolution to me, and Dobermans are cool. I'm well aware it's a hellhound. methinks Houndoom would pair decently with fighters, of course, but one must be careful and probably arrange a team that can actually support Houndoom, and vice versa... And not be too predictable about it. Though I'm stating the obvious. Solarbeam may be kind of required, but Houndoom is scared of special defenders. Reversal is an option, as is Crunch. It's attack is strangely not buffed at all, but I think the main seller of Houndoom is his increased bulk and speed, and to an extent the ability. I would've personally liked something with a different ability, perhaps Sheer Force or Infiltrator. nah that'd be ridiculous. Sludge Bomb is also very particular, and I honestly think it'd mainly be used to deal with Azumarill or... Florge/Sylveon, which would not likely OHKO him, and his fire attacks would probably leave large dents in him anyway. Actually, it'd be awesome if Houndoom's Mega had an ability that actually followed the flavour text, and could induce poison with a 30% chance, even if it's a ranged fire attack. Or his fire type attacks could be more likely to burn, or he could just keep Flash Fire. I remember Cofagrigus and Houndoom being great teammates in Gen 5, at least for me. In Doble Battles he'd love the other player to have Mega Zard Y, obviously. Mega Aggron is quite useful, though if you run a "lazy" set of full HP/ Def, he won't be hitting very hard at all. With max 31 evs he technically hits something like has fully invested 95 attack... lol I noticed that. Megas I'd like to see are Mega Emboar, who I think would be best with increased bulk over speed and special. He could probably get rock head as his ability. If it existed that would make Emobar monstrous and clearly have an advantage of normal Emboar. I'd love to see mega Rampardos, and mainly invest in it's speed and attack, and a bit into bulk. It could be given Rock Head as well. Mega Rhyperior would be a lot of fun, but to differentiate it from Aggron it could be more into attack power as opposed to defence. It could keep solid rock, or it could get adaptability, and be like a specialized tank... Because apparently bulbapedia says it's design is inspired by a tank. Mega Braviary would be cool, and turn it into a Fighting/Flying, because that makes more sense and isn't as bland. It could get fighterate, where it's normal type moves become fighting type. More investment into speed and attack power, like mega pinsir. But the mega I want most... Is mega Durant. I started to lose whatever train of thought I had.
 2. Uh... I have some grass Safaris, though only two... Does that count for anything?
 3.

Congraturationz. Relicanth is a cool Poke.

Some suggestions:

1) Make sure you have an everstone in hand when you breed for a good nature. Don't breed without one once you get a good nature.

2) Consider movesets. A good place to look is Smogon. for example, if you use Charizard, inferno is powerful but not reliable. A better choice would be fire blast. Moves like Dragon Rush are also no-noes because of their horrid accuracy. Solarbeam and Dragon Pulse is good on Charizard Y, though you need to breed for Dragon Pulse.

3). No duplicate items. So, no two pokemon should have leftovers. And do try the maison, it'll help.

4) In Kiloude City Pokemon Center there is an IV judge. You should go to him. If you want a long lasting, usable mon, make sure he says a lot of stats (and the stats you want) are "fantastic" or "can't be beat!".

5) when breeding for shinies, have utmost patience. It can take a while.

Can't talk now, because I need to do my homework. Behind on class.

 5.

Dragonite isn't OP, but it's certainly good. There's a few things you should keep in mind though. I want to make some rules.

1) No legendaries please. Yveltal, Mewtwo, etc, no thankies. Minor legendaries like Articuno are fine because they have the same BST as Garchomp (although Garchomp is higher).

2) Megas are allowed: cuz I want to use particular ones.

Continued.

Also in regards to EXP: Gain three hearts or more (it may be more) by petting, feeding, and playing with it. When it is full, play with it, because that will deplete it's fullness. Also, make sure you have a lucky egg. I forget which Hotel it is in, but it is in a particular hotel, and the one holding it is a lady or a socialite (elderly woman).

it was also funny considering our battle took place while I was watching an intense documentary with my siblings. Interesting what the PSS can do, in comparison to other things. So yes: I battled you partially while watching a film. No, I am not awesome or anything, but I just find it interesting: I really like the PSS. Sucks you can't view trainer card info though like the service records in like, Halo or something. I like to preview other players characters and progress...

Our match was 27 turns, longest match I had ever had.

 7.

Also: Thanks for the Shiny Skrelp! I had a feeling that was what you're giving me because I read you got two. I'm sorry if that's rude, but it was just what my gut said. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Still, it's a solid nature. While not competitive worthy it's still a shiny Dragalge. Dragalge FTW.

That match we had was also really cool because of how close it was. Yeah, you had a Dratini that did nothing, and you could've waited longer if you wanted to: but I think if you had another member the entire match would have played out differently. We also had more knowledge of each other's teams, except for Aggron (which only did one notable thing), though you were packed to the teeth with items. You also made some good decisions there too: at some points I was acting contemplating heavily on my next choice. Dat is nice. Next time my team will be entirely different though, if time allows that <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png" alt=":D" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I also feel that what my Chesnaught did was something that could've been done by another poke. So it felt useless...

Sorry I couldn't respond to your messages. I was at my other house. No I am not rich, nor do I own a phone. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> (Phones can be used here is all)

Good places to train are the Battle Chateau located near the Daycare. While you gain little EXP at first, once you rise up the ranks you can fight quite the high rankers. This is my own guess, but I believe that arriving there later in the evening results in stronger trainers appearing, or it is based on how many you've beaten in a day. Around night-time I saw higher ranked enemies and mons. If you've got the coin (and prize money power) you can buy a writ which either makes it more likely for higher ranked trainers to appear or increase their level. There's also the E4. When I newly hatch a Pokemon I like to train it in the beginning area of the game.

if you're referring to the Masuada method, not it doesn't "reset" anything. It's purely by chance . So long as a foreign Pokemon is there you're good. Reset as much as you want.

 9.

Well for some it can take roughly 1000 eggs. But you have to be quite patient: If you just keep waiting, hatch a few eggs now and then, you will eventually get it. It may take a day or a week or more. It's really all chance.

My brother also points out that you tend to get a shiny when you pay the least amount of attention. I was talking to my brother while we were on the XBOX (well, he was playing a turn based strategy game called XCOM) and I was watching, but I noticed I got my shiny Froakie mid-sentence. Too bad his IVS are meh. I don't even have the hatching O-Power. X(

 10.

For me it varies. For Chespin it took less than 100 (so less than... 20 batches of five eggs), for Fennekin it took 3 days (on and off), and Froakie it took a week (on and off).

Yeah, I wasn't online at the time. Truth is, I will be very busy this week... I may not even get much sleep. D:

Next time I'm online which should be the coming monday, maybe then?

 11.

Yes... It is incredible...

Seriously? This and before that there was an IV checker/maker of some kind? Will people go out of their way to hack anything to prevent them from... I don't know, obtaining them?

Masuada method is still the most preferable option.

But to be fair, hacking is a talent, among many things. Okay it's not hacking but like making programs or whatever. I don't know. It's just an easy way to get what you want. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sleep.png" alt="-_-" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sleep@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

 12.

Well, I want a team that's relatively balanced, but sticky web would be useful for other potential pokes. Aggron doesn't need it, yes, since it's atrociously slow anyways. It is just sort of there, however. I haven't actually considered a team for it to be in, yet, but since I am ironically using a lot of special attackers, or pokemon that aren't incredibly fast but have decent speed, I thought of putting him in. Also, since it's physical, it can take hits from that end quite well. It's cool I can teach it stealth rock via breeding. With some support Curse can be used, but it's probably inferior to mega aggron's Rock Polish Head Smash.

But only 36% of damage from Close Combat? Wow. That's... Impressive. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure.png" alt=":/" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I like to think of Mega Aggron as Rhyperior but much cooler, though in some ways quite limited.

I also FINALLY have my Shiny Greninja. It's completely black with a very reddish tongue. I want to have a shiny competitively. I would need a foreign Froakie. Can you help?

 13.

Ah, I see. It sounds more like a balanced mega. I was thinking of using Impish and capitalizing it's defence. Though Rock Head + Head Smash is quite good when it's not in mega... Probably should've considered that, though, when it does mega evolve, it can't make too much use of it. So there's that problem.

Heavy Slam is possibly more potent than Iron Head, but it's generally less consistent. If I use mega aggron I'd probably have sticky web support.

Yes it's black, but it's a very pure black. I like it.

 15.

I was thinking... What are your ideas on Mega Aggron?

 16.

I wonder what the relation would be... Cuz I would have no idea.

I. FINALLY. GOT. SHINY.GRENINJA.

And it looks amazing.

 17.

I await the surprise Pokemon! I went offline because I noticed you did, and it's really late here...

 18.

You can get the nutrients at Lavar.... Lava... something... City. It's the one with the Fairy Type Gym. You buy them at the PokeCenter.

Power Items are rewards for the maison. You have to rack up BP. Each of them cost 12 BP, but if you manage to do a 20 win streak + beat the Maison leader you can buy three in one fell swoop. It makes breeding much easier.

Awww. No mandibuzz? That's fine I suppose: I can wait for Pokemon Bank to come online, though I'll probably send in meh pokemon so I won't potentially lose my good ones.

Surprises sound fun. I may have to go dark for some time though, I've got this really big essay to do that I haven't got to yet and it's due in a week...

Want an Infiltrator Litwick? Infiltrator surpasses Safeguard, Light Screen, Reflect, and Substitute when it attacks. It's female (generally) with Modest nature, which boosts it's best stat.

 19.

Why harro there.

 20.

If you want to pass on good stats, use a Power Item, but it has to be the stat you want to pass down (for example, special attack is Power Lens). You can also use Destiny Knot, which passes down 5 IVS between two parents.

So, here's what I do.

I grab two Pokemon, let's say, Yanma and Yanmega. one of them has the characteristic (alert to sounds) which means near perfect or perfect speed. I give it power anklet to pass it down. The Pokemon in question, the dad, has good stats, but not the right nature. The Yanmega, the mother, does, but not the greatest stats ever. I give it an everstone to guarantee that the nature will pass down. however, I get two eggs which surpass the parents. I then replace the parents and give them the respective items. Repeat until satisfied.

If both parents are really good overall, but you want to be less specific with what stats go down, use a Destiny Knot.

X/Y made it a lot easier to breed... So consider it. :3

 21.

Also some other tips:

I won't explain IVS in depth because I can't, but they're like ratings. For example, two Charizard may have the same base stats, but they may have differing IVS. The one charizard may have higher attack at 31, being perfect, whereas the other is 20, which is not perfect. It ranges from 31 to 0. To get a good idea of where your IVS are at, there is an IV judge in the Poke Center at Kiloude City (The one with the battle maison). If it's decent, it's not worth considering to use in battles. If it's above average, it's probably worth using. If it's superior, it's quite considerable. If it's outstanding, which is rare, you should consider using it. he also tells you what stats are it's highest. Usually, if you're a nerd, you want to settle with what's good, like perfect special attack (in which he will say "It's highest potential lies in special attack... It can't be beat!)

 22.

If you EV train in the right places your Pokemon will become better at what they do. If you want mons that are more reliable, then use Super Training. Since you use a lot of offensive mons, EV training them wouldn't be complicated. Just a tip, try to save up money by battling the E4 and Chateau and then buy nutrients, it makes it go by much faster and is necessary if you want to do it... For sanity's sake. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

If you're going to breed those two Charmanders, I suggest the American one gets swapped out so you can have a better nature if you stumble onto it. Good natures are Timid and Modest. Timid boosts speed, Modest raises special attack, but both lower attack. While Mega Charizard Y's attack is still quite high, it's special attack far outweighs it's attack. You must keep the Japanese one, though, if you want to do the Masuada method.

Okay. When you get a team prepped, or just a few mons, we should battle again sometime. I'll use some other mega.

 23.

Also, I'd like to battle you again, but this time, I'd use only my Story Pokes. Most of them are EV trained, though they're not as solid as my Pokes that you were facing before. It would just level it out more, I think. Also, asides from Charizard, who I didn't use often, I don't use megas.

 24.

- Natures. Some good natures, for say, Charizard would be Modest or Timid. Former boosts special attac, latter boosts speed. Both lower attack, Charizard's lower attack stat. To get a good grip of natures you need to know stats though.

- Items. Items are really helpful of course: items sometimes make a pokemon good or bad. Some pokemon are bad without it. My Clawitzer was holding Choice Specs: it forces it to use the first move it uses so long as it is in, meaning when it used water pulse in that one battle we had, it could only use that move, until I switched. However, it hits harder as a result. Noivern was holding a Life Orb, which increases damage output as well, but sacrifices some HP as well. The power boost is also smaller than a choice band/choice specs.
