Well just a few moments ago Pokemon Sunday was aired in Japan. Junichi Masuda showed a silhouette of the new fifth generation Pokemon. Junichi Masuda called the new Pokemon "Z" which refers to the 13th Pokemon movie, Pokemon: Phantom Champion Z. Pokemon Sunday will reveal the full Pokemon on February 21st which is about 2 weeks away. But CoroCoro magazine will be out on February 15th so we might see the full Pokemon in the magazine. Here is a picture of the silhouette shown on Pokemon Sunday.

I think this is a 5th Generation Legend and its being revealed a little like how Lucario was revealed in the movie. I could be wrong though. D:

But yeah people don't really consider Lucario as a legend. :/

Why does it look similar to... Lucario or Blaziken (not that the latter would evolve or anything, but still... just pointing that out). Gen V already? Seems they make new generations like every 3 years. I'm hoping to see some exciting stuff...(*cough*givelegendariesactualmovepoolorflareonflareblitzandstopburyingoldproblemsbymakingnewpokemonthatoutclassformer*cough*)

That was a long "cough", wraith. Are you ok...?

Anyways, it's quite interesting to say the very least. I does, in fact, look like a second stage to the Lucario evolutionary family. But, only time will tell (Obviously, since they said the 21st of February...).

Why is everyone so bent on comparing it to Lucario and the other obvious ones?

Am I the only one who thinks of it as something totally different?

I think it's something different and unrelated to Lucario. I have a feeling it'll be a fox like one, but with long fur on it's head and it can walk on two and maybe yellow/red. :P

Totally agree with you.

At least this will finally put an end to those naysayers insisting this new game couldn't be the start of Gen V; but rather some spin-off or something.

On the topic of the new Pokemon, it definitely looks like an odd one... though D/P/Pt introduced quite a few odd-looking designs as well. I hope the first Pokemon they reveal a full picture of is one of the long-awaited evolutions to one of the Gen I Pokemon who still have no evolution line.

I see a bit of Luczrio, a bit of Sandslah, but Maybe a new Poke who will teach us that some great moral lesson(possibly starting out evil)? Or perhaps defy all logic and be the first main character to a movie that does not speak human? as if.

When I saw it, I thought of Infernape, so I thought of it as the final form of a fire starter. Then a grass starter. Then a water starter. Then Shaymin. Then Lucario. Then I realized that this was "Z", so I now think that it's actually a new legendary. But I can't get pokemonmaster384's comparison to a Sandslash out of my head. I am unsure of what to believe. Come on, Game Freak! Couldn't you have waited until May, so people would just be completing HG/SS? It's only out in two areas, and you're treating it like yesterday's news!

Huh, guess the fifth gen will arrive sooner than I thought. How many more pokes do we need?

I agree with giving flareon flareblitz as well. Shame it won't happen.

Nobody said anything about it coming soon. The new 5th Gen game(s) will be released in Japan by the end of the year and and even longer for the games to be released in the US/Canada!

Spectacular news. Looks quite nice. It looks like a sandslash indeed but i think it's a whole new evolution line. I hope to see some more new ones soon.

I meant that I thought they would give HG/SS at least two years before anouncing new pokes.

This generation has been handled a bit differently, though. Only around 14 months seperated FireRed and LeafGreen from Ruby/Sapphire; so waiting over 2 years between the Kanto remakes and Diamond/Pearl made more sense.

HeartGold and SoulSilver came out 3 years after Diamond and Pearl, which is quite a bit longer than 14 months. Had they decided to wait another 2 years after Hg/Ss before releasing Gen V, then the gap between IV and V would've been 5 years; and that would be unprecedented. And, IMO, a bit too long for my liking.

By the time the Gen V games come out in Japan, it will have been about 4 years since D/P was released; and that's still the longest gap we've had between generations (matching the gap between Gen III & IV, and exceeding those between I & II, and II & III).

True statement.

If they waited 4-5 years to release a new generation then they wouldn't make as much money as they used to thus making the Pokemon franchise go down the drain. Well let me re-phrase that. The franchise wouldn't actually go down the drain because they still have all the merchandise sales and the Anime/Mana/TCG etc.. but yeah, they'll lose a lot of money due the handheld games/console games since they play a huge role as well.
