Colosseum Ho-Oh OT

I have completed Colosseum and my Ho-Oh, obtained in a legit way, is flagged as "Invalid: Unable to match and event in mystery gift database".

What version of PKHeX are you using? or what save file.

Ho-Oh appears legal, as per my screenshot

Ok now i tested it, i have used 20180911, this is Ho-Oh in my Colosseum save

and this is the same Ho-Oh, as you do, in my Sapphire save

I begin to think that the problem is the OT in the Colosseum save that there isn't in the Mystery Gift Database

Probably because the ITALIAN OT isn't in the database. My English one is fine. @Kaphotics

The legal one is MATTLE, and illegal one is OP's Italian Copy..

Yes this is true but what I'm saying is that in Italian Colosseum is legal the Ho-Oh with OT's "MONTE LOTT", so PKHeX should make it as legal instead illegal.
When you trade it in the others Gen 3 games, the OT became "MONTE L" because of the length limit.

And then when you trade it back to Colo/XD, it will show "MONTE L".

I don't think it's absolutely necessary to add edge case handling for this. Colo did not have a legality check of this caliber.

Maybe I can do something about it...

Well this problem is not only limited to the Italian Ho-Oh.

The German and French ones are also affected. The full German OT "DUELLBERG", the full French OT is "MT BATAILL".
I don't have any CK3 file of them unfortunately, but I found several videos showing people catching the Ho-Oh with the long OT. Like these:

Regular Pokemon shouldn't have an OT with more than 7 characters though.
