ifyfg
just saying that i tried to do it with my ems nds adapter, and it didn't work. i backed the 'save up' before i even put the cart in my ds, and i recieved a 1024kb save, full of 0's. when i started the game and saved, and backed it up on my pc, this time, there was a chunk of lines of F's, then it went into 0's again, also 1024kb. when i went to write the empty (before i started the game) save to the cart, it took the usual time the adapter takes, so i thought it worked, but i booted up the game afterwards and my save with my character was still on there. so i can't get saves to or from my cart! i have also tried 3in1 backup tool, but so have other people. just informing, thanks. bear831
I also have the same problem. Maybe their will be a patch for the 3in1 backup tool soon?
MarkusE
The problem is that Rudolph, SaTa (the guy behind Rein), and other folks are all definitely retired from DS hacking.
ifyfg
but i thought rudolph was the guy behind that rudolph patch for hg/ss?
codemonkey85
The thing is guys, HeartGold and SoulSilver are apparently built on some fancy new NDS carts to accomodate the IR hardware and functionality. I don't know if anyone has figured out this format yet.
ifyfg
yeah they haven't, but we need to 'make some noise' so they realise that there is this problem!

bear831
Well the carts look very cool they are now black instead of grey. I prefer the Platinum sticker more due to it being holographic. I hope someone can hack these new carts so I can use it on my AK2i soon.

That may be good for those who own a flash cart, but what about us who already own a EMS NDS Adapter? I'm not in a hurry to fork out for another gadget, then wait 3 weeks for it to get here. Is anyone doing research in modifying or writing a new program to read the new kind of cart? *Hopefully* it'll just be a case of finding a different start/finish position to read from, and a little bit of hexediting. EDIT: Another idea is to modify or write a program which can extract the *entire* memory of the cart, then its just a simple case of finding the save file within the data. I was under the impression that the save file is a separate part of the cartradge.
Kaarosu
I was under the impression that the save file is a separate part of the cartradge. It is, a retail cart has two parts, a game and a save.
SnapperTT
It is, a retail cart has two parts, a game and a save. Oh bugger, I forgot that. Well, hopefully the the program for the new EMS NDS Adapter Plus will work with the original one.
