Released

This version represents a massive update with major new features, performance improvements, and a vast number of bug fixes.

Important

Our underlying tools have issues with OneDrive, neither DSPRE nor ROMs should be in OneDrive

New Features & Major Additions

  • Automatic Updates & Installer: DSPRE now features an installer and can automatically check for and download updates directly from GitHub.
  • Externalized Editors for Performance: For significantly better performance and stability, the following editors have been externalized from the main window into their own dedicated windows:
    • Table Editor
    • Trainer Editor
    • NSBTX Editor
    • Event Editor
    • Matrix Editor
    • Header Editor
    • Map Editor
  • Scripting & Code Revolution:
    • External Script Database: The script command database has been moved to external JSON files, allowing for easy community updates and modifications.
    • Plaintext Scripts: Scripts can now be imported/exported as plaintext .script files.
    • VSCode Integration: Added a new VSCode extension and an "Open in VSCode" button for seamless plaintext script editing.
    • Script Editor Enhancements: Added basic auto-complete, C-style comment support (//, /* */), and a Ctrl+S shortcut to save.
    • Improved Parameter View: Toggle between ID/Name view and ID/Number view for script parameters (e.g., see POTION instead of 17).
  • New & Overhauled Editors:
    • Overworld BTX Editor: A new dedicated editor for overworld textures.
    • Wild Encounter Editor: Completely overhauled for both DPPt and HGSS.
    • In-Game Trade Editor: Added a brand new editor for modifying in-game trades.
    • Item Editor: Added support for expanded FieldItemUseFuncs without crashing.
    • Trainer Editor: Added the ability to reorder trainer party members.
    • Learnset Editor: Moves are no longer automatically sorted, allowing for custom rearrangement (including Move Reminder moves).
    • Pokémon Personal Editor: Hatch results can now be edited.

Application & Infrastructure

  • New File System: Settings, scripts, logs, and crash reports are now stored in %appdata%/DSPRE for better organization and Windows compatibility.
  • Crash Reporter & Logging: A new system has been implemented to help diagnose and fix issues.
  • Improved ROM Handling: General improvements to ROM loading and saving, improving reliability and enabling operations from environments like WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).
  • Startup Checks: DSPRE now checks for required tools and potential conflicts (like OneDrive) on startup and provides clear error messages.
  • Platinum Synthovl: A new, graphical side-effect-free implementation for Platinum (now uses overlay_0122.bin).

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Open Default ROM: A new setting to instantly launch a project on startup.
  • Screenshot Feature: Added to the Event Editor.
  • Pop-out Functionality: Available for multiple editors for a more flexible workflow.
  • UI & Text Clarity:
    • Renamed "Encounters" tab to "Sp. Encounters".
    • Renamed Trainer AI flags to be more descriptive.
    • Overhauled all move effect descriptions for accuracy.

Bug Fixes & Corrections

  • Fixed: The "Save Matrix" button now works correctly.
  • Fixed: Duplicating overworlds in event files now correctly assigns unique IDs.
  • Fixed: The Trainer Editor no longer displays incorrect level-up moves.
  • Fixed: The DV/Stat calculation functionality has been completely overhauled and now works correctly.
  • Fixed: Various UI bugs have been addressed.
  • Fixed: Corrected several wrongly documented script commands during the database refactor.

This is really impressive! Thanks a lot!

I wish to add Ice Rock/Moss Rock in HGSS (Seafoam Islands/Viridian Forest) and I want it to serve its purpose (evolve Eevee into Leafeon/Glaceon in HGSS). Would this be possible?

Really good pokemon Editor.

But i have a little issue with DSPRE 1.10 and 1.11, when i go to HGSS Encounters, i have a window with "an item with the same key has already been added" and when i click on "continue" it does nothing...so i can't open the encounters window...but with DSPRE 1.8 i can...I don't understand why...any idea?

Thanks !

I change the encounters, but then when I play the game the encounters are the same as in the original game.

The screen suddenly shrinks when I try to upload a rom, so I can't reach the bottom buttons. Even if I cancel it, it's still stuck in it's shrunken window. I tried using both 1.8 and 1.71, but the same problem happens. Is this sort of a bug?
