I'm getting system errors when trying to run it.
-
Sadly I don't really have anything to contribute other than some memory dumps of some "demo shinies" from the GS demos. It's a pain to see if they remain shiny when pasting the memory into the final Japanese Gold every time I find and dump one though. I know it's possible to happen with the right DV combination and that's what I'm aiming for. I even got some from the PC debug. No demo shiny Kurstraw though which makes me sad. :(

If I may ask for a small feature implementation, would it be okay of you put a little star symbol next to the dumped Pokemon's filename if it ends up becoming shiny in both the demo and final? It's technically possible to happen if you get the correct DVs and I got a ton of DMP files that I have to manually insert into Japanese Gold to see if the stats add up to a shiny in the final. It would be less of a hassle for me if something like that was implemented.

Didn't you say that Charm Snorlax is exclusive to breeding in Gold and Silver, not Crystal?
-
This is a little bit off topic here, but I think I figured out why some Pokemon is GSC have Charm as an egg move. If you look in the Spaceworld demo's disassembly and go to Level Up movesets it reveals that both Cubone and Marowak could learn Charm at the time! From a technical standpoint then, if breeding was implemented in the demo, you could breed with them to get Charm on Bulbasaur and Snorlax, then for Oddish you just chain breed with the Charm Bulbasaur. What's not answered though is why some are version exclusive. By the way, I also heard that in the MYSTRY Mew save file there was a Blastoise registered in the Hall of Fame. You think it would be possible to recreate it? Sounds like an interesting project.

Hahahahah, that's my custom tournament you posted there! And yes, I still have it on my PC.
-
I kind of figured that was the case. You still have my support.

As much as I'm really looking forward to someone finally making a complete game out of the scrapped concepts, I do wish the demo rom was used as the base instead of Crystal. Don't get me wrong your work looks amazing, it's just an inconsequential gripe in the back of my head. Even so, you got my interest and I'm hoping to see more come out of this.

I was searching for a demo shiny Pikachu and got these instead. Thanks to a glitch involving Sketch I couldn't afford to waste a turn attacking Smeargle. Here's the three demo shiny Oddish and the demo shiny Raticate after trading to Japanese Blue. 020 - ラッタ - FCEC.pk1 043 - ナゾノクサ - 65F4.pk1 043 - ナゾノクサ - 766E.pk1 043 - ナゾノクサ - AFDC.pk1

Yeah, you should probably swap over to the BGB emulator if you want more accurate things in the demo. It's recommended by the fan translators after all. I'll try to see what I can do about the battle debug if that's how you got those last few proto mons. If it's worth anything, I also heard that the unused Burned Tower Entei event exists in the demo somewhere, but with the drastically different region I can't determine where that would match up with the final. Even then, with the lack of scripts outside the demo area it would probably be impossible anyway.

I didn't get a "Johtan" Leafeon through resetting, but I ended up getting these instead...on the same save file no less! In the process I saw one shiny Flambear, two shiny Cruz (including the one pictured above), and a shiny "Johtan" Noctowl in the PC. Here's the "demo shiny" Slowbro I got after trading to Japanese Blue. 080 - ヤドラン - 89B3.pk1

Pikachu can be found in Silent Hill during the daytime I think, but it's a very rare encounter. I got mine there and accidentally leveled it up a few times as I was searching for "demo shinies."
-
I wasn't talking about injecting into the final Gen 2 games, I was talking about injecting into the demo. With so many changes between the beta and final, the Gen 1 mons are the only ones that can go through everything with no issues, after those it doesn't match up. Any pk2 that contains one of the scrapped Pokemon designs will only work properly if injected into the demo and nothing else, which no online tool can do at the moment.
-
Even if I could extract it, it would be completely useless unless we can inject into the demo's save file and load it. Different internal IDs means it's incompatible with the final GSC. I know these Pokemon won't remain shiny if traded to the final version, which is why I'm calling them "demo shinies" to differentiate them for the final. Consequently, this can make some traded Pokemon from Gen 1 "demo shiny" but not "final" shiny in the retail games.
-
Found more "demo shinies" in my free time. For some reason a few of my caught Pokemon got corrupted nicknames, including the Rattata above. I just unchecked the nickname value in PKHeX before extracting. 016 - ポッポ - 63E0.pk1 019 - コラッタ - 2A56.pk1

The Pokemon Center in the next town, "Old" town, has a working battle and trade area with functional NPCs for the features. I used the Time Capsule there to trade with a Japanese Blue for exporting, although I heard if you communicate with the final Japanese GSC it errors out. Yeah, that's not going to work. The demo has completely different internal IDs for Pokemon, so if you trade something past Meganium's ID it will become something completely different. This is why I'm playing it safe and only exporting Gen 1 mons from the demo, they're the safest and are globally compatible with the first two generations. The only way we could ever use these demomon pk2 files properly is if PKHeX adds support for these demos...which I heard won't be coming any time soon because Kaphotics says they are way too different from the final.
-
Seriously, this demo really loves me. I traded three of them over to Japanese Blue since Hoothoot can't be traded over. I did some testing and Pokemon that are shiny in the demo RETAIN their shininess when traded back. Just don't trade it to a retail Gold and Silver since the shiny odds changed. Here's the demo shinies I traded over to Japanese Blue. The Caterpie isn't the same one from earlier, I just so happened to run into another shiny one. 010 - キャタピー - 913D.pk1 011 - トランセル - 5BE3.pk1 023 - アーボ - F85C.pk1

This demo bloody loves me. I even managed to trade the Caterpie over to Japanese Blue for exporting. Shinies didn't exist back then, but it SHOULD still be shiny if you trade it back to one of the demos. I would have used a Japanese Gold or Silver for trading, but I heard that it errors out and you can't trade with those games. 010 - キャタピー - 71F6.pk1

I've actually played the demo for a bit, and it's a REALLY interesting playthrough. The same yet completely different to what we got. The Voodoo doll Pokemon has to be one of my favorites of the early designs. I know this may seem like a long stretch, but I do hope PKHeX adds support for this when things become more polished, translated, and saving gets added. You could argue that "it's going to be classified as a hack by then, so by those standards all hacks should be added to the database!" but I consider this a special case. There are dozens of hacks out there, but this was officially made by Game Freak and the only thing that's getting added by the hackers is an English translation, various bug fixes, and the ability to save. Everything else was made in house and not by any sort of fan. The fact that the Diamond and Pearl demo is supported by PKHeX with a few tweaks also really hammers the point in. On a more unrelated note, I came up with some of my own fan assumptions about this vastly different region. It's in a spoiler because it doesn't exactly fit the criteria of the topic.
-
It may be possible to obtain unreleased English versions of these mons with a specific setup. You need to change a single byte in the data to get the options to show up, but even after you scan in the cards there's no option in the international versions to battle against the trainers you scanned in. Maybe someone could look into reactivating it?

Oh, that's nice to know! It does make it a shame that the only shiny Arceus that can be legally put into Pokebank is the Japanese Hoopa one.
-
That may be true from what I've seen, but for some reason when I skipped over PK5 and converted it straight to PK6 Pokebank saw no issues with it. I assume its because one of the checks was eliminated in the generation shift for it to see nothing wrong. This was also how I got my shiny Shaymin and Darkrai into Pokebank as well.
-
Here it is. It's the same Arceus from earlier in the thread but I personally grinded it up and nicknamed it. 493 ★ - Azure - 57510CB5CCBF.pk4 As for Shaymin, I actually already have the Gracidea item from an official Shaymin I obtained; I just can't use on my shiny DP Shaymin as it just says "It won't have any effect." Despite what the article on the unreleased Shaymin says about how all Shaymin can transform from the Gracidea, it's wrong.
