  1. Just a software update. Version 2 is supposed to have the newest software on the disc. Version 1 comes with the original software which then updates as soon as you plug it in for the first time.

Use the modified .exe file by SciresM if you cannot read Japanese. There is a thread about that now with some basic instructions.

Did you follow the steps on how to decrypt the save file?
  4. Well, in regards to the Jirachi, if it is a serial code giveaway, then it will be region locked and you will not be able to get it using a NA cart. If it's a local trade, then you will. If it is a Wi-Fi trade event, then it's a toss up. I can't remember if the trade method has been announced, so somebody else may be able to provide a more precise answer for you on that. As to your second question, in order to rip the Wonder Card from your save, the easiest way would be to decrypt your save and then use PKHeX to rip the card. Decryption isn't that difficult and there are tools that actually automates the process for the largest part. Edit: Here is the link to the tool that will help you partially decrypt the file so PKHeX can load it using a Powersaves backup. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?37269-X-Y-Save-File-Research&p=183224&viewfull=1#post183224 This is another tool to help you further decrypt it after that if you want. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?37269-X-Y-Save-File-Research&p=183729&viewfull=1#post183729
  5. You are welcome. Sorry I couldn't tell you what you wanted to hear. Just keep following the sight since there are people like Bond and xfr who are working on something. There is no ETA for any release though.
  6. Then you can't do what you are wanting to do. Right now, the only way to inject custom Pokemon into X/Y requires those things that I mentioned. If you get those, you can manually hex edit your save file or use PKHeX to take the guess work out of it. However, again, you must have a a Japanese cart and Cyber Save Editor 3DS to do this.
  7. I just told you. Look at the first paragraph of my last post. Do you have those things?
  8. Well if you are talking about injecting pokemon into your X/Y game like Pokecheck allowed you to do in Black/White, you need a Japanese cart and the Cyber Save Editor 3DS by Cyber Gadget (which can only be imported from Japan) for starters. If you don't have those, then you are out of luck right now. If you are talking about transferring Pokemon from Black/White to X/Y, then you need to use PokeTransporter along with Pokebank.

  10. Imagine Powersaves crossed with a more traditional Action Replay. You can find more info if you Google "Cyber Save Editor 3DS." Cyber Gadget is the name of the manufacturer.
  11. Only under certain circumstances. You can read more about it in the first post on the first page. You can only do this using that device and only on a Japanese cart played on an up to date Japanese 3DS (non Gateway/MT-Card modified one.)
  12. I'm not entirely sure about Portugal, but I think that he was referring to the previous events like Magmar/Electabuzz since I know that PAL console users were able to use HomePass to obtain those. It also worked for these Zards in the early going (not sure if it is still being done), but I think that they were synching with Zones in the UK. I could be wrong however.

Thanks for answering my question and for the work that you have put into PKHeX. My Japanese collection of game carts is small compared to my US one, but if there is anything that you guys may need in order to do more experiments with the device, I can try to contribute whatever you may need in order to help (but I will say that I'm not a hacker by any stretch of the imagination.) It is supposed to be here this coming week if the shipping estimates are accurate.

I have my Cyber Save Editor on order so I don't have it yet (sorry to ask now vs just waiting until it comes in.) I have what is probably a stupid question, but does the device already decrypt and store the save in the temp folder so we can just load it into PKHeX, or do we still have to break the encryption like we did with Powersaves first?

The biggest difference from what I understand between the two is that everything is done on the user side (including code entry.) Basically, it is Powersaves that cuts Datel's servers out of the loop and splices in a pseudo-Action Reply functionality (it only alters saves.)
  16. You can extract Wonder Cards. Kaphotics even made it easier for everybody to do it by using PKHeX.
  17. Well, it seems to be a mix as far as distribution methods. Serial code distributions have been really big this gen (these are the ones that have the ability to be spoofed like the UK Charizard.) IR is also being used (the new Olleh Charizard redistribution is said to be using that at the upcoming event.) I think that this gen has seen the greatest variety of distribution methods compared to any other. I'm from the US where historically events have been handed down via distribution carts. However, we have yet to see a special event launch other than the VGC Mamoswine, so it is hard to say how that will be handled.

You know what @BattleLegend, you have made your opinions very clear in the past about how you were going to hack the game, which then turned into constantly asking why somebody hasn't done it yet when you realized it was way beyond your capabilities, then you kept asking how you could inject things into the game with PKHeX repeatedly, and now you have finally degenerated into slamming anything that does not allow you to get the content that you want. Just because this tool does not allow you to do what you think it should do does not mean that it is useless. If you have nothing constructive to say, then just go back to GBATemp and post your incessant rantings on the issue instead of doing it in this thread where people ask serious questions about the tool. @TheZoroark007 - I saw a recent Twitter post on Bond's feed. According to it, he hasn't heard for xfr (the guy who ran Pokecheck), so for now it looks like that sight is dead as a doornail. However, he has said in the past and in a recent post that he is moving on ahead. So, while there may not be a Pokecheck in the future, there may be a replacement sight. He did not give exact details in this Twitter post and there has been no ETA hinted at. We are just going to have to be patient for a bit longer. If you haven't checked out his feed, I would do it from time to time. I usually check it once a week to get caught up. He did post an unreleased music track that they found in the game. It's a remake of the champion battle from Red/Blue/Green/Yellow. The link to the file can be found on his feed.

It has to do with the complexity of the AES MAC encryption. It's not one universal key across all 3DS's. It's also not something that you can brute force through. Finally, the key is dumped into a write only area of the 3DS and the master security architecture of the 3DS (which would allow somebody to emulate another 3DS to sign a save if you had access to it and could make a full 3DS emulator) is stored on a chip that requires decapping to even have a shot of getting it. Long story short, it's not a simple task that a hex editor and 10 minutes will get you past.

That is certainly not true. It has many other useful functions which include exact IV readouts and ESV checking among other things. Just because it doesn't do what you think it should do doesn't mean that it doesn't have it's uses.

  23. I use Parallels and Windows 8 myself, but I can say that I don't know of anybody who was able to get the software working with Wine, etc. People using BootCamp or Parallels with any of the supported Windows versions have had the least amount of problems.
  24. The only problem @marcusc04 that you don't understand is that Pokemon are actually on a different type of cartridge altogether and thus their saves are handled much differently than the other cart type. Google card2 3DS. The barriers to transferring card2 saves between carts have been exhaustively discussed by the major 3DS hackers here and on other forums.
  25. Use this tool and instructions. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?37269-X-Y-Save-File-Research&p=183224&viewfull=1#post183224 It will automate pretty much everything for you as much as possible. This will make it so that the file is partially decrypted and readable by PKHeX.
