  1. My boxed copies had arrived when I got home today. The only thing in the box was the actual download code, no poster, magnet or any bonus content. For anyone who wants to see: I thought it would be neat to do a Pokemon GEN 2 though the generations photo: Time to start my GEN 2 adventure on the 3DS
  2. The Pokemon GC games seem to have issues with region swapping saves in my experience. If you remember with Pokemon Box I had similar issues with trying to load your NTSC save on my PAL version of Pokemon Box. I could load your NTSC save, using an NTSC game on a PAL console, however when using a PAL game it would read the save, then corrupt it when trying to save any changes. I’m guessing the Pokemon games might have slightly different savefile layouts between regional copies of the games.
  3. For anyone on the fence with contributing I know Deoxyz has personally invested a lot of his own money (were talking $1000's) in both the 10ANNIV and Aurora Ticket Distribution then released them for free asking for nothing in return. In addition he was the one who got us a distributed set of the French, German, Italian and Spanish 10ANNIV Pokemon, along with the Aura Mew in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish for the GEN 3 event save myself and HaxAras has spent a lot of time on last year. Something we learned a lot later on that the research team here didn't even have these Pokemon. So needless to say if you value these old, rare Pokemon event's and want to see people enjoy them now and in the future it's well worth donating anything you can justify in my opinion. Sadly these old events are usually hoarded away in private collections never to be seen again, when a chance to obtain them comes up its often very costly unfortunately, Deoxyz has absorbed this up front on PayPal credit, however this and anything in the future is only going to be viable if the community comes together to make it happen. If this comes off their is also another event in the works, which has been for many months now. This is close to been finalised too, so this year could potentially be another good year for GEN 3 events.
  4. Game who I pre-ordered with have generally been pretty good with codes and such in the past. I've had some Xbox 360 codes sent by email I was never expecting before the game has been released. They do seem to be close with Nintendo UK and are the only ones offering the boxed version besides Nintendo here, so i'm hopeful!
  5. It looks like you might also be able to redeem the code on the standard Sun / Moon games too? if so the question is should I wait or not. Actually I wonder if i'll get two codes as i did pre-order both boxed versions of Gold and Silver.
  6. @jasenyoface not personally, the raids seem a lot more scarce around here compared to the previous legendary raids. I have seen a couple which have been on-going, however non i've been able to attend yet.
  7. Oh yes, I like events which are a throwback to the older games
  8. I'll have to check that scraper out. As nice as it would be I can't imagine Nintendo ever officially allowing saves to be transferred over. Most cart batteries are likely long since dead, so people who did have the foresight to backup their saves before that happened are likely in the small minority, even then i can't personally see Nintendo entertaining any sort of user dumping of data from game carts. Let's say they did though, how do you think it would be done? the user posts their GB cartridge and 3DS to Nintendo for them to dump and inject the save. Maybe using a setup that will dump a save from a GB cart, erase the cart and then copy the save to a special flash card like cartridge that would quickly restore the save when inserted in to the 3DS? I'm more than happy I can restore my save unofficially, however officially would be pretty nice I must admit. That said i'm optimistic for a GEN 2 Celebi event and have a feeling Nintendo will make the effort for that.
  9. This is potentially great news! How are people viewing these test wonder cards? i'm guessing it's something to with the mystery gift servers? https://manatails.net/blog/2016/03/hacking-pokemon-6th-gen-mystery-gift-server/ or mystery machine: http://mys.salthax.org/ ? As for the VC games I've already pre-ordered the boxed version of the Gold and Silver (yes I want an empty box to sit with my other games ) I'll be restoring my original Gold save dumped from my cartridge then playing though Silver!
  10. The J.Rodrigo Cart Flasher for GameBoy Deoxyz linked to is by far the most easy way to backup saves these days. I did a little tutorial / review on this a few months ago: GameBoy / GameBoy Colour USB Save Game Backup If your in Europe i'd be happy to dump the save for you, probably wouldn't be cost effective if your on the other side of the world, however if you need any help let me know.
  11. Today on my way to work we'd stopped at a red light in range of a gym. I managed to take the gym out (I wasn't driving don't worry) however was then ever so slightly too far away to claim it Sorry Team Valor I tried!
  12. It's probably not that much effort to drop a guy in front of the door or somewhere to block access, that fixes Crystal up with very little effort. You do make a point with events though. The UK one was ultra limited. It was in one city, in the middle of the working week, for one night, where (i think 50) people had the chance of winning an invite online. So with those odd's we did pretty well for two different people who are on this site to actually attend and obtain the event. Most people will be oblivious it ever happened unless they read about it online. With that in mind i guess you could say only Japan really had a proper event, which does make me re-think how much Nintendo care for VC events sadly. I do still think it's quite possible for Crystal to get a release in the future though, as I really don't think it would be much effort to fix that up. However event wise you have made me re-think.
  13. What's to stop them simply keeping the area's inaccessible? maybe have someone stood in front of it, saying all these years later it's closed down (which is true) that would take very little effort to do and doesn't really ruin the game at all, or require any major alterations. Looking at the Yellow VC game, the effort was made to keep the Surfing Pikachu game accessible without having to link up to Pokemon Stadium. That proves some effort is been made to tweak the games where required. Nintendo had also never re-released the Pokemon GameBoy games before last year, the effort was made to patch in WiFi trading and update PokeTransporter to be able to read the VC saves and import Pokemon. I wouldn't say it doesn't sound like the Pokemon Company / GameFreak to me personally. By April 2016 the GEN 1 VC games had sold 1.5 million copies so $9.99 * 1.5 million = almost $15 million profit, for what was probably not that much work. If Crystal is released at a later date it will sell in my opinion. Will Nintendo release it? i honestly don't know. Sure it's wishful thinking they will and and have a modern day WiFi event, however I personally don't think it would be really that difficult to do if Nintendo wanted to do it.
  14. The boxed versions with a download code are now on the Nintendo UK store for pre-order: https://store.nintendo.co.uk/games/nintendo-3ds/pokemon-gold-version-pokemon-silver-version.list - £8.99 each + £1.99 delivery. Hopefully they will be available from Amazon or Game for a similar price, as they will usually do free delivery. I'd love for the GS ball to be done though Pokebank, that would be a great modern take on a classic event. Is it wrong i'm more excited for Gold / Silver than Ultra Sun and Moon?
  15. They should, the rest of the world needs a crazy event like the Yokohama Pokemon Go one too! I hope to at least add Kangaskhan, Unown and Girafarig to my Pokedex today. We managed to find a Girafarig nest about 45 mins away from the station in Manchester, so plan to make the most of the day and head over to that too. Only one person in our little group who's going has it. Is Girafarig ultra rare for you guys too?
  16. I see what's going on here I'd do the same, however i'd ruin my enjoyment of the game, even if I did it just for this event. Nice Raichu though!
  17. Will anyone be going to one of the Unusual Pokémon Sightings in Europe Events? essentially in select European cities Kangaskhan and Unown will spawn pretty frequently. From what people have mentioned you can obtain E,U, R, O, and P Unown. The event is also taking place in some UK cities, which I never realised. I'll be visiting Manchester this weekend with a couple of mates to hopefully add a couple of rare Pokemon to the Pokedex, along with doing a couple of raids.
  18. Cheers to yours also, how many attempts did it take? I've bumped in to people who have missed 8/8 Articunos, then you see others who have like 10 and it makes it seem like the game hands them out like candy!
  19. I thought i'd share this with fellow Team Valor members as it's the first Legendary i've managed to catch since legendary raids we're released. My cousin messaged me on Facebook to say the raid had just spawned up the road from where I worked, lucky I was due to finish 10 mins later. I checked the local Facebook group and various people who i didn't know said they would be meeting at 5:15. So i turned up and was the 4th there, people kept arriving and in the end we had 18 people, so easily won the raid. I then managed to capture it on the 5th ball, so was pretty chuffed as the Moltres was: "Simply amazing with defence as it's strongest feature and stats the appraisal was blown away with" To give some context theirs no gyms within a 30+ min walk of my house, so its difficult for me to do raids on an evening. I'd then spent 4+ hours in my towns local park last Saturday with a friend and no legendary raids spawned what so ever, however their is a few gyms near where I work which also never seem to have legendary raids on when i've finished work. So essentially everything fell in to place for once allowing me to obtain a Moltres
  20. The recent topics / threads widget on the right of front page seems to show all content from public Clubs, regardless of if you are a member of that particular club or not. I think it would be more user friendly to only show content in this area from Clubs you have actually joined. If you click on content from a club you are not a member of you can read the content, vote on polls, however are denied from replying, which is a bit confusing until you realise you have ventured in a post from a club you haven't joined. Perhaps even separating forum posts from club posts and having two widgets might be better? A small issue I know, however it's caught me out a few times already.
  21. The struggle is real indeed! Their was an Articuno raid 10 mins from my work last night, so I went over when i finished and did my first legendary raid. Sadly only three people joined and we got annihilated. I'd estimate you need at least 10 people absolute minimum, maybe 11 or 12 for it to be a sure win. I think it's going to be luck if I manage to find enough people at a raid to win it, then even more luck to catch it. I'm hoping the raids are still going this weekend as i'll go to the largest park in my town which usually has loads of people playing.
  22. Usually 10k as i need some of the Pokemon which hatch from them. However at the moment 2ks as I want a Pichu with a hat, sadly after around 15 eggs that's yet to happen!
  23. My buddy is which ever Pokemon i'm trying to evolve next to complete the Pokedex. At the moment its Totodile, i need around 23 more candy for a Feraligatr. My next buddy will be Larvitar as I have 82 candy towards getting my first Tyranitar.
  24. Someone from the Facebook group for Pokemon Go in my town went halfway around the world to attend this event. I've attached any non identifiable screenshots and photos that were shared, I imagine in years to come such images might be difficult to find info from this event. Apparently Unown spawned quite frequently and you could spell Chicago with the ones which spawned.
  25. Oh i never knew the Shiny Magikarp was limited, that's a shame! I have a Gyarados fully powered up and almost 500 candy to evolve a Shiny Magikarp if I ever happen to get one. Currently i'm trying to hatch a Pichu with a cap, sadly my last 10 2k eggs have all been Goldeen, Spearow or Geodudes. The first 5k i put on did however hatch in to a Magby, which i think was the only baby Pokemon i needed.
