Riolu Aura Sphere Now Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Firstly I would like to say thanks to everyone who will help me along the way. This is my OU Team and how I would use it. First of all, my team contains these following pokemon; Lucario, Swampert, Rhyperior, Torterra, Blaziken, Togekiss --- Lucario @ Life Orb Inner Focus @ Timid Hp: 259 Atk: 242 Def: 198 Sp.Atk: 285 Sp.Def: 187 Speed: 233 - Aura Sphere - Close Combat - Extremespeed - Sword Dance Lucario is my sweeper. With Sword Dance I'll be able to raise my Atk greatly at the begining of the battle. Aura Sphere will likely never miss. Close Combat is like Aura Sphere, but much stronger except it will most likely miss a lot. Extremespeed is my finisher move because at the end of the battle when the opponite pokemon has a little bit Hp left, thats when I'll use it. Weakness: Fire, Ground, Fighting, Flying Super Effective Against: Rock, Ice, Steel, Normal Resistence: Poison --- Swampert @ Leftovers Torrent @ Mild Hp: 317 Atk: 257 Def: 202 Sp.Atk: 243 Sp.Def: 223 Speed: 176 - Surf - Ice Beam - Earthquake - Protect Swampert is my mixed tank. Surf is my power house move. Ice Beam provides with much coverage. Earthquake provides with deffense. Protect is very useful against pokemon who are faster than me. Weakness: Grass Super Effective Against: Rock, Ground, Fire, Grass, Bug, Flying, Steel, Poison, Dragon, Electric --- Rhyperior @ Life Orb Lightningrod @ Lax Hp: 371 Atk: 337 Def: 342 Sp.Atk: 142 Sp.Def: 153 Speed: 122 - Rock Polish - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Rock Wrecker Rhyperior is my physical attacker. Rock Polish is to boost its speed since it lacks speed. Stealth Rock is a great move on switching pokemon. Earthquake is a great coverage for it. Rock Wrecker is my power house move. Torterra @ Leftovers Overgrow @ Mild Hp: 303 Atk: 269 Def: 242 Sp.Atk: 210 Sp.Def: 222 Speed: 173 - Razor Leaf - Sunny Day - SolarBeam - Earthquake Torterra is my second mixed tank. Razor Leaf is a great sweeper attack with a high critical hit ratio boosted with the ability Overgrow which is excellent. Sunny Day and SolarBeam is a strong combo against stronger pokemon. Earthquake is a coverage against stronger pokemon. Weakness: Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison Super Effective Against: Water, Electric, Rock, Ground, Fire, Poison, Steel --- Blaziken @ Life Orb Blaze @ Serious Hp: 286 Atk: 280 Def: 198 Sp.Atk: 267 Sp.Def: 177 Speed: 216 - Brave Bird - Sky Uppercut - Flamethrower - Bulk Up Blaziken is my special and physical attacker. Brave Bird is a strong long distance attack. Sky Uppercut is a fast and strong physical attack boosted with the move Bulk Up. Flamethrower is a great fire type move for long distance attack that will never likely miss. Weakness: Ground, Water, Flying, Psychic Super Effective Against: Grass, Bug, Steel, Rock, Normal --- Togekiss @ Life Orb Serene Grace @ Bashful Hp: 288 Atk: 135 Def: 234 Sp.Atk: 283 Sp.Def: 288 Speed: 221 - Sky Attack - Roost - Aura Sphere - Thunder Wave Togekiss is my special attacker. Sky Attack is a great combo with Thunder Wave boosted with Serene Grace. Aura Sphere is a great move that will likely never miss. Weakness: Ice, Rock, Electric Super Effective Against: Fighting, Bug, Grass Resistence: Ground, Ghost No legendary pokemon at all.
Gin Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Changes and commentary in bold --- Lucario @ Life Orb Inner Focus @ Adamant/JollyTimid lowers attack. Instead, go for adamant, or jolly. Post EV's, not the raw stats - Ice Punch Aura Sphere uses special attack. - Close Combat - Extremespeed - Sword Dance Swampert @ Leftovers Torrent @ Relaxed - Surf - Ice Beam - Earthquake - Stealth Rocks: Protect won't really help, they'll just kill you next turn. Rhyperior @ Life Orb Lightningrod @ Jolly or Adamant - Rock Polish - Megahorn - Earthquake - Rock Blast Rhyperior here is outclassed heavily by Metagross, who can also perform a speed boosting sweep, but better. Here's a nice set for that: Meta@Life Orb/Leftovers 112 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 132 Spe Agility Meteor Mash/Iron Head EQ T-punch/Ice Punch/Explosion I can't salvage Torterra, so I'll replace him. Try any of these guys: Salamence Life Orb Rash Moveset EVs ~ Draco Meteor ~ Fire Blast / Flamethrower ~ Brick Break ~ Roost 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe I don't like it too much personally, but some do: Dragonite Life Orb Rash / Mild Moveset EVs ~ Superpower ~ Draco Meteor ~ Flamethrower ~ Roost / Thunderbolt 112 Atk / 196 SpA / 200 Spe Hariyama Leftovers Thick Fat Careful Moveset EVs ~ Force Palm / Brick Break / Revenge ~ Earthquake / Stone Edge ~ Whirlwind ~ Payback / Knock Off 80 HP / 172 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe --- Blaziken @ Life Orb Blaze @ mild - Brave Bird - Sky Uppercut - Fire punch? - Bulk Up Not bad, I guess.. don't want to sound like a smogonite, but you can replace that with an infernape and do better. Ape Life Orb Naive Moveset EVs ~ Nasty Plot ~ Fire Blast / Flamethrower ~ Close Combat / Vacuum Wave ~ Grass Knot / Hidden Power Ice 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe One of the scariest pokes ever Togekiss @ Life Orb Serene Grace @Calm/Timid - Air Slash - Roost - Aura Sphere - Thunder Wave Some things: You fall to many standard pokes like Sala, Ape, Latias, Scizor, Azelf, Meta, etc. You don't have a spinner/spiker You don't have a truly effective lead You don't have any defensive stuff, and you don't have enough immunities to run hyper offensive Try it out on shoddy sometime, see how it goes.
Riolu Aura Sphere Now Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Ok thanks a lot lol. I'll see how the teams differ on shoddy.
memjee Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 You'll need a lead, I suggest making your swampert your lead and replacing Protect with stealth rock. - Give Lucario Ice Punch or Crunch instead of aura sphere, without this many pokemon resist him and aura sphere isn't upgraded by sword dance. - Infernape is superior to blaziken, but blaziken still alright. - As Bob said Agigross is better than Rock polish Rhypherior, I would try SubRhy - Like bob I suggest putting Air Slash on Togekiss, it has the same flinch hack effect without a setup up turn. - Torterra is UU thus not being that effective on OU I pretty much said what Bob said, a second opinion is never a bad thing though.
crimson assassin Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 bob has great points but is wrong in saying metagross can pull off a sweep better than rhyperior that isnt true at all solid rock weakens super effecive moves not to mention he has usefull stab moves where metagross stabbed move are resised or neutral damage to most pokes used in OU but do agree with most changes up above
randomspot555 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 You really should post EV spreads rather than individual stats.
Riolu Aura Sphere Now Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 [updated] Lucario @ Life Orb Inner Focus @ Rash 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Aura Sphere - Shadow Ball - Extremespeed - Sword Dance Blaziken @ Life Orb Blaze @ Serious 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Flamethrower - Sky Uppercut - Brave Bird - Sword Dance Rhyperior @ Life Orb Solid Rock @ Lax 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Surf - Rock Wrecker - Rock Polish - Earthquake Swampert @ Leftovers Torrent @ Impish 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Surf - Ice Beam - Earthquake - Stealth Rock Scizor @ Life Orb Swarm @ Naughty 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Bullet Punch - Night Slash - U-turn - Agility Weavile @ Life Orb Pressure @ Jolly 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Night Slash - Nasty Plot - Ice Beam - Swagger
Tbird Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I really think you should take into concideration some of the recommendations that were put forth by the other members, because so far you have a gaping gliscor, tyranitar, scizor and to a lesser extent zapdos weakeness. Any speedy pokemon with both an earthquake + fighting attack (Alot of pokemon) can take down a lot of your team. Similarly, hippowdon is going to mess this team up real bad because most of your team is only attacking physically, and the ones that are using a special attack really shouldn't be (because they won't do that much damage.) Both Scizor and weavile both brilliant fill the role of 'revenge killer' due to their signature priority moves and high attack stats (not to mention their ability to double their attack in a single turn. So my first recommendation would be to pick either scizor or weavile and get rid of the other. and then bring back your togekiss because she is an awesome special attacker with the ever 'wonderful' serene grace + array of flinch inducing moves. [updated]Lucario @ Life Orb Inner Focus @ Rash 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Aura Sphere - Shadow Ball - Extremespeed - Sword Dance Blaziken @ Life Orb Blaze @ Serious 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Flamethrower - Sky Uppercut - Brave Bird - Sword Dance Rhyperior @ Life Orb Solid Rock @ Lax 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Surf - Rock Wrecker - Rock Polish - Earthquake Swampert @ Leftovers Torrent @ Impish 10 Hp/100 Atk/100 Def/100 Spa/100 Spd/100 Speed - Surf - Ice Beam - Earthquake - Stealth Rock Togekiss (M) @ Lum Berry Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP/104 Spd/152 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Air Slash - Thunder Wave - Nasty Plot - Roost There's probably a better way to run this set, though this seems devistating enough. Nasty plot when you come in, Twave the oponant, roost away the damage and then paraflinch them to oblivioon with air slash, Weavile (M) @ Life Orb/focus sash Ability: Pressure EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Ice Shard/Ice Punch - Night Slash/ Pursuit - Brick Break/ low kick This would be your basic late game sweeper/ revenge killer. Strategy is simple, switch into a crippled pokemon and depending on the circumstances either kill it with ice shard or set up swords dance on it (allow the sash to be activated) then kill it and sweep with either ice shard (for other priority users) or nightslash and brick break for everything else (note: night slash and brick break provide universal coverage, bar spiritomb [i think that is the only one who resists both] who, however, falls to ice punch) That's all I'm going to do, everyone else has recommended good sets for everyone else
