C87H176 Posted Thursday at 04:49 AM Posted Thursday at 04:49 AM We can use Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire to give Winning Ribbons and Victory Ribbons to Legendary Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon, and Pokémon over Level 50, but when I checked with PKHeX out of curiosity, it showed “illegal.” This method of awarding ribbons using Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire might not be very well known, but I was curious if PKHeX takes this into account, so I decided to ask. If it isn’t taken into account, I’d like to see some kind of action taken. Steps 1. Launch Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire and select “Go to Adventure.” 2. Win the 56 battles at the Battle Tower where ribbons are awarded. 3. After the automatic report is generated, select “Go to Pokémon Box” and swap out the Pokémon you want to give the ribbon to. This is my first post, and I’m using a translation tool. 0302 - SABLEYE - 47D51BABCFE7.pk3 4 1 1
elSteeler Posted Thursday at 11:51 PM Posted Thursday at 11:51 PM This is so insanely cool, thank you for sharing. I mentioned your post in the Discord for Project Pokemon, hopefully they can look into this soon.
C87H176 Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Thank you for sharing this post on Discord. By using this method, we can give ribbons to up to three Pokémon at once—not just those that normally can’t receive them. I didn’t discover this myself, but I’d be happy if this post helps everyone who reads it. (It might be difficult, but I’d love it if the developers would consider the legitimacy of awarding Winning Ribbon and Victory Ribbon to Legendary Pokémon and the like.)
Poke J Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago If I may through in my two cents. This is super cool especially for those wanting to do ribbon master challenges, but I don’t think PKHeX legality checker should consider non Battle Tower legal Pokémon with the ribbons as legal. 1) Despite the player being able to do this only with official hardware and software the method is forcing the game to behave abnormal. 2) PKHeX does not recognize legally generated gen 3 Pokémon with the wrong PID method as the player again has to force the game to function abnormally. This is to keep the legality checker actually functioning and not overlooking actually poorly hacked Pokemon. 3) Adding this would be a pandora box effect of edge case additions to PKHeX’s legality checker which could negatively impact it in the end. Similar to the overall sentiment for Pokemon from point 2 you know its legal, but to keep the legality checker working properly PKHeX shouldn’t consider restricted Pokemon with the ribbon as not legal.
C87H176 Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Thank you for your reply. If the “legality checker” is a tool designed to verify whether a Pokémon was created through improper means, then I agree with your opinion. Although this method had been discovered quite some time ago in the Japanese community, it remained largely unknown in other communities despite its importance. I decided to share it now, with Pokémon Bank nearing its end. (I use a translation tool.) 1
Kaphotics Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago An opt-in setting for the legality rule engine has been added on the latest commit: Add legality rule tweak for Battle Tower rsbox · kwsch/PKHeX@ad69eae The legality engine "bypass" setting off by default; the exploit is extremely intentional, can be applied to eggs, and isn't something that should generally be viewed as legitimate. 2
