Sebeeeee Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I wanted to edit my save file but this error showed up, it's my first time using PKHeX and idk why it doesn't work i don't think the save is corrupted cause it works fine when i play the game pls help Pokemon Y (EUR) (En,Ja,Fr,De,Es,It,Ko).sav
Kaphotics Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 That's not a valid save file. Export it correctly from your console using homebrew.
Kaphotics Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 It means exactly that. It's not a save file format that PKHeX can recognize, therefore it rejects it. Export your save file from your console/cartridge correctly, with homebrew.
Sebeeeee Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 ok i'll try homebrew but i thought PKHeX could recognise .sav files
AlamosIT Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 (edited) Where did this file come from? A valid Pokémon Y save file should be a file named "main" (without extension), with the size of 405KB. In actual hardware (3DS/2DS with game cartridge or digital copy) a save file must be extracted AND DECRYPTED using a Homebrew save-manager, like Checkpoint (little guide here). This assumes that you have a complete CFW setup on your 3DS console (complete guide here). If you are using Citra you should take a look here. Edited March 6, 2024 by AlamosIT

Kaphotics Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Well, if you dumped your ROM to play it on a flashcart, then you have access to homebrew and the original cartridge. Flashcart-specific dumps that are not decrypted are not usable in any program like PKHeX. You need to decrypt the file, which is unrelated to PKHeX (and this site).

Sebeeeee Posted March 6, 2024 Author Posted March 6, 2024 I will try even though i have no idea if my 3ds as a cfw. i dont have a lot of knowledge in this

I think the Sky3DS has a dock for dumping the games so this might not be true depending on how good their dumper is compared to a CFW 3DS. 4 hours ago, Sebeeeee said: I will try even though i have no idea if my 3ds as a cfw How did you dump your game? If you used your 3DS to get it then you should have CFW but if you used their dumper then you would need to get access to a CFW 3DS.

Sebeeeee Posted March 6, 2024 Author Posted March 6, 2024 isn't there a decryption app to download directly on a pc? would be easier
AlamosIT Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 41 minutes ago, Sebeeeee said: isn't there a decryption app to download directly on a pc? would be easier No, because you need an actual 3DS hardware in order to decrypt, as if it were a "decryption key"
Sebeeeee Posted March 6, 2024 Author Posted March 6, 2024 well i'll just start a new save i don't wanna risk bricking my 3ds while installing a cfw thx for your help everyone
