Should have the nickname flag set, and the nickname different from the species name based on whatever the nickname should be for your language.

Can confirm this happens from the game without modification. A friend sent me a video showing his redeem a few days ago. Unsure if there is a nickname flag but the name in French saves is its species name, Pijako, and not the name it's supposed to be (Pijouk I believe).

Were these obtained on the latest patch of the game, or the unpatched base game? Not sure what may be causing this error (only for French??).

I'm playing on latest update,1.3.0 and yes in french also.

Looks like the console itself is preventing it from setting a badword (thanks Anubis!)

Pijo is spanish slang, which trips on Pijouk. We were able to identify the root word flagged by trying to set the real nickname ourselves and removed characters until it allowed us to set Pij.

Very funny, Nintendo & ILCA. The badwords list is continuously updated, which is why this went unnoticed until now.

I hate how Nintendo does with that censorship thing. It just feels bad to me, but I try not to be offensive now.
