So... I'm digging this thread up because other searches didn't really return any results.

I was wondering if it would be possible to not only change the character's sprite, but also it's picture/animation in close-ups, for example when starting a battle or something like that, because this of course stays the same.

So if it was possible to, for example, change the picture of HG/SS hero male/female to Platinum hero male/female... so it wouldn't look so weird when a sprite starts throwing pokeballs looking like someone else entirely. ;)

I'm guessing the chances aren't too big because there's probably no picture of the Platinum male/female hero in the game... but would it work, in theory? Or maybe with a different picture that is in the game?

I know this thread is really old, but maybe someone would still have any ideas? :)

Hi, I'm new on this site, I literally tried both codes and a bunch of different values, I double-checked to make sure all the codes were right and it's still not working? I can't seem to change my Sprite. Is there a certain activation button or something I'm missing??

I know this is really old but when I try to use the code for the male hero in Platinum, it doesn't work. I've tried getting into buildings, bag, and I even tried pressing LR and SELECT while getting out of them. Idk what to do haha.

WAIT NEVERMIND! The codes this person provided do not seem to work on my Pokémon HeartGold version, but don't worry I got the code that does work

I got it from a page where they give you a code to play as Red, and I changed the three digits in the 3rd line to the ones of the respective sprite I wanted to use and it worked! I hope this helps some people that have the same problem.

What are you talking about, both SoulSilver and HeartGold use the same cheat codes for character modifications.

Im confused it says its registered the cheat code but the sprite isnt changing is there something i need to do to activate it? Do i need to beat something or add a master code?

As I did with Pokemon Platinum, I've taken the liberty of deriving a list of values to be used to modify your character sprite to that of another sprite in the game. The following code was created by the hackers on GBAtemp, whom I thank alot for their hard work. The code will work like this:

Due to the lack of a calculator in the game, the alteration of the code is neccessary to change you character. Also note using multiple character altering codes at the same time has a high potential of crashing your game, so please refrain from attempting it.

First start by finding the desired value that you want. All you have to do is replace the Red X's with any of the following values and presto. You have yourself the desired sprite.

It should be known, however, that although the walking animations for each sprites work perfectly fine, the only sprites capable of having a working running animations are the Hero Sprites for Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver.

I would definitely like to play barry the rival in platinum but on platinum the skin change is not permanent. So can we play Barry on hgss?
