As it was announced a month ago, Vivillon with its special Fancy Pattern will be distributed as soon as the goal of 100,000,000 GTS trades is reached.

The goal was just reached and Vivillon is now available worldwide for download via Internet.

That's weird. I resetted several times and got a male Vivillon each time.

Maybe the gender is already determined when you download the wondercard?

I cannot test this out, as I just saved the game accidentally... though I can do this in Y version instead... though I was planning on restarting this file with a new game. Actually good idea I'll try this in Y and see if the Pokemon's sex is fixed or not.

Fake Edit: The Vivillon in question continually ends up female. This is interesting. Nature/ability is randomised, however.

Asked a few people about their Vivillon, and it's gender seems to be fixed when downloaded (as has been discussed here), and is not dependent on game version or the player character's gender.

Yes, my X and Y characters are different genders but both instances ended up with female Vivillon.

Looks like this was the case for the Gengar and Scizor distribution too. It may be a new thing in Gen VI then. If so, it seems like a really annoying thing to add.

Not that it matters, but just to solidify any questions here is my input - The Vivillion has it's gender determined upon receiving/downloading the event to the game.

The only thing that is subject to change are the ivs, nature. Met date is the date when the event was downloaded in this case.

This was confirmed by me too with numerous soft resets and checks.

Gender has always been determined upon receiving/downloading the event to the game in Generation 6. That's nothing new.
