Thanks Greencat! FAQ 1) What's up with Clefable? Why is she not taking any damage from hail and spikes? Clefable has this ability called Magic Guard, which makes her take NO damage from indirect damage (Shedinja would REALLY love this). This means Toxic and Will-o-wisp won't affect her (although Burn's attack cut will be in effect). Fun fact: Clefable and her pre-evolutions with Magic Guard are the ONLY Pokemon immune to Stealth Rock damage. Also, Clefable is anti-hail team. As you can see, my hail team relies on indirect damage from Hail, Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Stealth Rock (and sometimes Abomasnow's Leech Seed) to work well, but Clefable easily sets up Cosmic Powers and take no damage from those, while throwing back Seismic Tosses and Toxic to hurt my Pokemon... and using Softboiled to recover any damage done to her. That's what makes Clefable so strong against my particular team. Also, not only does she cause hail teams trouble but she can also be a valuable asset to a hail team! She takes no damage from hail... give hell to her foes, and do so many crazy stuff. If you are making a hail team, give her a try! You will most likely not be disappointed. 2) Droggiero? Aren't you Wraith89? Droggiero is the name of my cute stuffed pet frog (don't ask why I give random names) It's just my alternate account >.> 3) What are some counters to Greencat's Clefable? Let me think... try a No Guard Resttalk Machamp with Dynamicpunch. He strikes the fairy for super effective with it while confusing her at the same time. If she poisons him, he can easily rest off and use Sleep Talk. If you don't like No Guard you can use Guts and Poison/Sleep will increase Machamp's attack by 1.5x... but use something like Close Combat instead. Tauntarel works really well. Get a Bibarel with Taunt to stop Clefable from Softboiling and Cosmic Powering when she is about to use Softboiled... Super Fang hits through those boosts and deals 50% of her total HP... and the trait Unaware ignores Cosmic Power's boosts and the beaver can Waterfall the cosmic fairy when in the KO range. Just beware of Toxic (Taunt takes care of this). Blissey has Aromatherapy and can use her own Seismic Tosses to destroy that annoying Clefable. Hazers will get rid of any Cosmic Power boosts. Vaporeon is most ideal thanks to her massive reservoir of HP to deal with Seismic Toss... but just beware of Poison (unless you use Substitute). Otherwise, try Crobat or Weezing... but beware of Seismic Toss. Critical hits are your best friends Thanks to: Walrein: For taking down 5 out of 6 Pokemon all by herself (with the help of Swampert, Tentacruel and Froslass and their respective entry hazards) Clefable: For being such a pain in the neck to take down... and a real proof that there are many viable Pokemon in UU that can be used in OU (this thing... UU? No way! BL please!) Abomasnow: For being an awesome Pokemon to finish off the evil fairy Froslass: For getting Spikes in and paralyzing Clefable Tentacruel: For knocking out Clefable's Leftovers (did me a LOT good) and setting up Toxic Spikes Swampert: For setting up Stealth Rocks Mamoswine: For trying... at least. Enkidu Posted May 4, 2009 Share Posted May 4, 2009 The most common leads in competitive battling are Metagross ( explosion ), Bronzong ( explosion ) Heatran ( explosion ) Azelf ( Explosion ), Infernape ( Close combat ) , Roserade ( Sleep powder ) Swampert ( Roar ), Hippowdon ( roar ) All of them easily deal with a first turn Clefable and can setup entry hazards. The now common anti lead Gallade, Weavile and Aerodactyl also Taunt the slower clefable and Gallade + weavile taunt it AND get super effective hits on it with Close combat and Brick break respectively. ( Not to mention gallade + weavile know fake out. ) Also warstorys are fun, Humiliating and good to learn from. Not one or the other, all three. And Wraith fight me sometime tomorrow. Also if you want a ridiculously cheap team,Endeavor + Extreme speed + Focus sash smeargle,Abomnasnow to set up hail, Endeavor + Focus sash Cleffa, Clefairy and clefable and Stallrein. You essentially get a free kill on the first pokemon, take out 3 other members of the opponents team with the three Clef's and then finish off the last 2 with Stallrein ( which only works in the hail ). I'm not sure if I can fight you today or anything... and I don't really think I like playing with this hail team ATM (I played so many rounds with this beloved team... and I want to change a little bit). I'm going to make a UU team (the classical UU with Blastoise, Vileplume, the Nidos, Poliwrath and the likes, not that ugly UU Smogon devised currently with Milotic and Spiritomb and all) and want to play and test with that for now. Everyone is playing OU they forget about the vast possibilities of strategies in UU and the cool Pokemon that exist in there. I think UU is going to be my favorite tier... but don't worry. But I won't be playing OU in a LONG LONG time (with FEW exceptions)... but maybe I'll change some movesets to fit with the Platinum metagame, and possibly some Pokemon.
