  8. Hacking Wish is a no no. I do not condone that. > I was hoping you'd play by legal bounds though, but... meh. I don't know. Torterra deals with Ground Pokemon just fine. He makes an adequate check to the majority of them and resists Ground itself. I would watch out, however, for something like Ice Fanging Gliscors which will at least 2-3HKO. Er, how does Starmie deal with Ghosts again? On the contrary, it is weak to it and wouldn't make a good switch in to that. A good Pokemon that checks Ghosts very well is Tyranitar (who also provides sandstream) or even Scizor (immune to sand, has U-turn to scout, priority Bullet Punch). If you feel like they can do you well, then it will. However, I wouldn't put them in just for the sake of defeating your friends; that's rather not nice... and it wouldn't really be stall anymore. Skarmory, however, is a very good Pokemon for stall. It can add Spikes support, phaze Pokemon away, and wall physical hits to no ends and roost them. Now we're getting somewhere.
  9. Wish is an event move: if you don't have the NYPC event, Blissey cannot have Wish (very few people know this because they read Smogon for granted so I don't blame you) Nah I understand you. Having fun is more important than winning, which MANY people tend to forget. I just wanted to know how exactly you were going to approach this is all. It's perfectly okay to be new, don't be afraid to ask for help! Just want to point out that Torterra is neutral to water, not resistant, so beware. He can still counter many physically oriented Pokemon very well, which isn't bad. Underrated, but I trust that you know what you are doing with him. I'm just saying watch out, because many bulky waters carry Ice Beam, and we all know how well Torterra takes an Ice Beam. I would keep Starmie, however, as it is your only check from making this team into an Infernape fodder. Okay, fine, there's Garchomp, but still. Tentacruel would make an excellent support Pokemon as it has plenty of advantages: 1) overall bulkiness (particularly on the special side) 2) ability to lay down Toxic Spikes in addition to Rapid Spinning 3) can counter Mixape (mixed Infernape running Close Combat/Fire Blast/Grass knot) very well 4) can eat Toxic Spikes just by switching in! It comes at the cost of being weak to Ground and Psychic, however, but it is your call. Don't just replace Pokemon with whatever. You need to think it through. I do run Empoleon as a bulky water though, but I'm not sure if it fits into your team. Well, okay, it is immune to Sandstorm and can take Ice hits very well thanks to its 4x resistance to it. Electric and Ground weaknesses are covered by the majority of your team... though Fighting is only covered by Starmie. It can Roar stuff out so everything can be inflicted by some form of residual damage. Yeah, let's try to think this a little through, and maybe we will get somewhere. Other notable valuable Wishpassers come in the form of Vaporeon or... uh that's all I can think of for now. You can get Wish by breeding with Smeargle or something (yes, another hereditary move). Hippowdon can also make a mean lead, especially for stall. One of the best leads in fact, as he can ROAR and set Stealth Rocks as well. In fact, I would suggest that and replace Roar on Torterra with Substitute or Stone Edge, methinks.
  10. Always rated teams? You lie! Oh, stopped by Salamence/Gyarados? + 1 Rock Slide (Swords Dance + Intimidate) + LO vs: Gyarados: 131.7% - 155.3% Bulky Gyarados: 105.4% - 124.3% Salamence: 129.9% - 153.5% Misses on any: one destroyed Excadrill Forgot to mention to replace Brick Break with Rock Slide. I thought you had Rock Slide The choice is between Brick Break or X-Scissor on that other slot. But having Rock Slide + Earthquake is almost a must. The thing is, most people go 252 HP/252 SpDef Calm on Jellicent. I don't quite agree with that though as that leaves it open for physical attacks, despite its access to Will-o-Wisp. I er... had this set for Jellicent... Victoria (Jellicent) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 72 SAtk / 144 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Scald - Ice Beam - Toxic - Recover I know it's not the best set or whatever, but I'm only showing you what I have. Scald is a water move that has 30% chance of burn, acting SOMEWHAT like a less accurate Will-o-Wisp that does damage. Ice Beam is there for Grasses/Dragons/all the other popular Ice weak Pokemon out there. Toxic for Toxicing, and Recover, of course, is always useful. I had the EVs so I can take a Shadow Ball from Chandelure and OHKO with Scald w/ SR on their side of the field in return. I know it's specific, but at least she has enough SpDef and some Def EVs to be almost like a Tentacruel, taking both sides of the spectrum better than what she should normally. You can replace Ice Beam with STAB Shadow Ball or have Will-o-Wisp instead of Scald and have Surf as well. Taunt is also another good option, in fact, I would recommend it in case something like a Blissey or Reuniclus wants to ruin your day. Or go the lazy way and 252 HP/252 SpDef Calm... but I really like it having BOTH defences covered somewhat so something stupid like + 2 LO Thunderpunch from Ape won't OHKO. Mind you, that sand will negate the Leftovers recovery, so play her carefully. What? My Blissey is also named Victoria? Yeah er... pretend you never knew that! I have to leave... again. I'll see what I can get later.
  11. All right. I know I don't normally rate teams, but I'll try to see your scope and see what you are thinking before I rate this. I'm not entirely fond of that Smeargle lead though. You have invested in 252 HP and holding a Focus Sash despite the fact that it is already hopeless. You want Explosion and Extremespeed to hurt as much as it can, so if you are adamant about that Smeargle, dump in all that HP EVs into Attack (if you can). In general though, I'm not entirely sure if Smeargle will work here. I would try to incapacitate the other guy's lead with Spore to put them to sleep. If it's something like Lead Machamp with Lum Berry, you're still faster and you can Spore them again after Lum Berry activated because of Own Tempo and Focus Sash saving your Smeargle from fainting. I would try to have some sort of disabling move because with Smeargle's frailty and rather "mediocre" speed, it isn't working out, and more often than not, it is difficult to have set up more than just Stealth Rocks. Even if you do switch it out and bring it back in, that sand will pretty much neuter the one thing saving it (Focus Sash) and a faster thing will destroy it. I might want to suggest a Forretress lead or perhaps a Skarmory lead, but seeing as you already have a Starmie as a spinner, I wanted to see a different direction. Your team hates Ice attacks as I can see (aside from the relatively frail Starmie and the wallish Blissey), so having a Steel Pokemon someplace that can set up Stealth Rocks or Spikes or even both may not be a bad idea. Not to mention they are immune to sand as well. A stall team will absolutely want Toxic Spikes running around. Yes, I know it ruins your Blissey's Paralysis strategy, but there are Pokemon immune to Twave (Grounds/Elecs with specific abilities) or fast Pokemon who fly that are immune to TS (Gyarados/Gengar/etc...) or Steels/Poisons (Metagross/etc...) so all isn't lost running both. I'm just not entirely sure what the whole idea about this team is, so if you could shed some light about it, that can really help. Also, I am not familiar with the metagame your friends are running so I can be amiss with what I'm saying. Seeing as legendaries are banned and Garchomp isn't... heh heh, that Garchomp can sweep a whole team if they allow it to. I'll see what I can think up of later, but that's all I have time for for now.
  12. No But next time try to think of a thread with more content.
  13. Hey Toff. I'm slightly busy, but I'll try to see your team in details. So expect this post to keep changing. That Tyranitar is working for you? I mean, if I run a Focus Sash on Tyranitar, I'd put something like Counter on it so it can beat an Infernape using Close Combat or something, but for the most part, I'd say drop that Focus Sash. Instead, I'll share a Tyranitar I run which often surprises people (Tbird knows and has a love/hate relationship with it), but I'll adjust it so it fits your lead schematics. Sue (Tyranitar) (F) @ Lum Berry / Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock - Stone Edge - Crunch - Dragon Tail / Roar You can change the main attacks to whatever you want... but I'm leaving it as two STAB moves for now. With these EVs, Tyranitar can survive a lot of stuff, taking like 59.9% - 71.3% from a Timid Specs Starmie's Hydro Pump (Modest Specs does 65.8% - 77.7%), taking a + 1 Bug Buzz from Volcarona (Timid 55.4% - 65.8% at + 1, Modest 61.4% - 72.8% at + 1), and even an LO Focus Blast from Timid Gengar (84.2% - 99%, 64.4% - 76.2% without LO)! Choice Specs Chandelure does 34.7% - 41.1% with Energy Ball and 61.4% - 72.3% with Hidden Power Fighting while Crunch has a high chance to OHKO Chandelure, but with rocks that is guaranteed. Scarftran's Earth Power does 24.3% - 28.7%, and if you have Earthquake, Heatran will also be disposed of quite easily. You'd be quite surprised how bulky this thing turns out. And best of all, even with 0 Attack EVs, it CAN still OHKO the targets I've mentioned above! (Okay, Crunch does 96.9% - 115.3% to those Starmies, but if weakened or with Rocks on the field, that thing's long gone). 134 Atk really doesn't need the investment if you are playing utility role. Of course, Tyranitar will have trouble against regular bulky grounds or waters this way, but that's not what it's there for, but it can still take the hits well, still provide the Sand Stream you need, etc. Lum Berry can allow it to take one fatal status move, but you can go ahead and change it to Leftovers if you really hate the lack of recovery. Nonetheless, Tyranitar would really love Wish Support, so see if you can bring one out for it. That's right, it won't strictly be lead; you can bring it in whenever you feel like it and switch it out when you need to. You can move the Def EVs to Atk if you want to (which also ensures the OHKO on the Starmie). I had it like that originally to give a bit of more attack, but still, the lack of power compared to regular Tyranitars is noticeable. If you are not going to run this Tyranitar, then you can try for a bait set. For one, Tyranitar has a plethora of attacks accessible for it. For one, it has a decent usable Special Attack, allowing it to nail in Gliscor switch ins or whatnot. Ice Punch isn't OHKOing Gliscor anytime soon; it's just a weak move otherwise, though it will nail stuff like Lati@s, but you have Crunch for them anyways. Fire Blast also works well vs stuff like Scizor or Steels in general that like to switch in. Usually, the opponent's first response is usually bulky ground or water, and the former can get nailed by Ice Beam for an easy OHKO-2HKO. I'm just brainstorming here, but I don't have a usable bait set yet, but Tyranitar certainly has the moves and the typing to become an easy bait. It also does not get OHKOd by anything in short of Fighting attacks or something like Megahorn from Heracross. Excadrill is really begging for Swords Dance somewhere. With one safe switch-in, Excadrill can ravage through entire teams with a single Swords Dance, and tear them apart (late game once his checks are gone of course). I'd say replace Return for now, and with Stealth Rocks on the other side of the field, he can OHKO almost anything that isn't something like Skarmory or something. Speaking of Excadrill checks, who in your team can safely switch into Azumarill? Change Garchomp to Jolly nature. I know you like the extra power Adamant has to offer, but that's not what it's for. It is mainly for revenging, and you need the + speed nature if you want to have Garchomp to revenge + 100s like a + 1 Salamence or something. Brick Break and Fire Fang a little lackluster for attacks, so I'd put in Stone Edge and Dragon Claw. Why Dragon Claw? Because you may want the versatility instead of attacking with Outrage outright, which can spell disaster if they bring in something to revenge Garchomp. Save Outrage for late game and use Dragon Claw earlier as the primary revenging attack with neutral coverage. Stone Edge + Earthquake provides great coverage together, but you can still stick to Fire Fang if you feel Steels ruin the day (Skarmory still laughs at Fire Fang regardless, 24.6% - 29.3% at physically defensive, 32.3% - 38.3% on those without any Defence EVs). I am not entirely sure if Gengar fits in your team. You already have a revenger with Garchomp, and Gengar is further hampered by sand. Running Scarf on it can also handicap it. I really like the new Disable set (I tried it in Gen IV only to have it miss every time ) but again, Sub + sand = BAD. Still pondering about Gengar atm. And even if Gengar did work, remember that THUNDER works under very specific conditions. The sun and sand will reduce Thunder's accuracy to 50%, for example, and would otherwise be impractical. Sludge Bomb is Gengar's strongest attack, but the coverage it offers is poor, even though it does strike a lot of things neutrally, which is good, it is begging for a free switch in for Steel Pokemon, and others like Poisons, Rocks or Grounds are also resistant to Poison, which is pretty much a recipe for disaster. Shadow Ball + Focus Blast works very well because NOTHING is resistant to this combination, and Shadow Ball covers the needed STAB very well. But still, I don't like Gengar in this team; I'm just not seeing it function. I don't have much time right now, but I'll come back to this and see what else you need. Cheers. (Me? Rating a team? Preposterous!)

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Scarf Scizor... nah it isn't worth doing now. In Gen IV I used to have fun Iron Heading stuff and the guy going ???</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Yeah I know. Specs Froggy hits really hard. Let alone LO versions. The fact I run defensive versions as it's supposed to play never allowed me to try the offensive versions, but I never get to do anything with the defensive one, because everything hits too hard. Skarmory, as usual... of course. The problem with Ferrothorn is while it is benefitting from the rain with the added resistance to Fire attacks and taking Grass and Electric hits, it doesn't have that reliable recovery, and without a spinner, it is going down pretty soon. Power creep, speed creep, you name it. And Garchomp saying NEIN to Thunder Wave.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Wait, I'm talking Pokemon again?! NO. I REFUSE TO BE A PART OF THIS!</p></p></p></p></p></p>

    <p><p><p><p><p><p>/me runs</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>That's an interesting Leadnite. I guess Fire Blast is out because of the rain right? Though I was thinking it'd still be useful early on if you decided not to bring out the rain. At least you're not immediately bringing out weather like every other weathertrolls. That's always the best resolve really.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Yeah... if Rocks are out, it looks like Thundurus cannot do much and will get revenged no matter. I'll have to look at this in more details. And you Spexxed Froggy? I guess that works... like your team makes sense, but I don't know exactly how it works.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Hurricane/Thunder Dragonite is awesome, just letting you know. I know you're not using it, but I was contemplating making Thundurus the lead and Dragonite the painful weather wizard. Just a thought.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

    <p><p><p><p><p><p>Check it out, badge pics are back... but not the Plat sprites in PP <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

  18.

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Always pull something unexpected. I just don't know if a Blissey with 75 SpA can achieve at least 25% on stuff without the 4x, which worries me the most. I'm certainly not going 252 SpA on her... definitely not. But that'd be pretty funny. I did run CM Blissey in Ubers... that was fun <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/mellow.png" alt=":|" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/mellow@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Rain teams in general tend to do that... I hated sacrificing stuff just to achieve a win... but it happens. Rain teams are also ridiculously tough to fight that I have to pack Tyranitar or Ninetales to beat it. As much as those two hate water, the former won't mind non boosted special hits (especially mine, as you know) while the latter weakens water impact. Lapras and Jellicent are also good anti rain teams. Oh yeah, and EMPOLEON. My Empoleon stops rain teams cold with Blissey. I used to do that a lot with Hail as well. But what is in your team?</p></p></p></p></p></p>

  19.

<p><p><p><p><p><p>I know how to make spreads... Scizor always runs like tons of SpDef in Ubers, even sometimes 248 HP/252 SpDef Careful.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>252 Atk/252 Speed on SD versions rather... they took out all the bulk >_></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>I really loved it when I sent in Blissey to revenge against a Scizor and they're all like "HOW?! HOW DID YOU GO FIRST?!!" and some even ragequitted <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>No seriously, that was the charm of Victoria in Gen IV... now I think I'll just run Blissey the way she was supposed to. Or maybe I'll stick Ice Beam as more things hate Ice Beam. However, without some investment, I'm not OHKOing stuff like even Landorus, so I'm going to have to invest in SpA again. I'm running 80 SpA currently though with Flamethrower... some Scizors took 97%... but SR = joy.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

    <p><p><p><p><p><p>I said 182 <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/mellow.png" alt=":|" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/mellow@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>It's only 144 Speed EVs. She's posted EVERYWHERE in my RMTs. The same Blissey, over and over. It isn't losing out much other than HP/SpA/SpDef EVs which I may have wanted. And 183-184 is like people who want to outpace my Blissey or something. Like, I think Scarf Scizor got revived just because I bought my fast Blissey in Smogon once. Okay, no, I would never cause such an impact <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>But because these trolls are running 252 Atk/252 Speed, I've totally lost the will to make a fast Blissey that Flamethrowers any Scizor that switches in <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>"You lose out on bulk but you are out pacing a whole host of things that sit at 176 speed, such as Skarmory, some Ttar, some Scizor and <strong>even some speedy blissy</strong>"</p></p></p></p></p></p>

    <p><p><p><p><p><p>You troll <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue.png" alt=":P" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>Though... mine sits at an excess speed of 182. It was a war between 177-181s... but now like everyone's going 183 or 184... really frustrating. Oh yeah, and Scizors going 252 Atk/252 Speed. Seriously? What?!</p></p></p></p></p></p>

  22. <p><p><p><p><p><p>I don't know. If it were a #2, wouldn't it be released in a main console as well? And if it were so, I don't believe it would be released in a handheld before the main console. At least that's what methinks. I'm not entirely sure what to make out of this... BUT this is interesting.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

Good grief... well, I guess that allows for special Pokemon. But it's Gen III mechanics <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/wacko.png" alt=":S" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/wacko@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p></p></p></p></p></p>

  24. I used to run 252 HP/84 Atk/172 SpDef Careful with Lum Berry on lead Machamp as that allowed it to survive a LO Psychic from Azelf, and can still take it down with Payback + Bullet Punch (and Dynapunch still hurts everything else no matter how you look at it... if Gengar disables Payback then Stone Edge will still 2HKO it), but Azelf is nowhere near prominent in this gen but it may still pop out as a lead. Other than that, go with what Tbird said. Machamp (M) @ Lum Berry 252 HP/84 Atk/172 SpDef Careful Nature No Guard - Dynamicpunch - Payback - Stone Edge - Bullet Punch Any EVs I suggest are assuming the RELEVANT stats have 31 IV in it. If not, you will have to sacrifice some EVs from someplace (like Attack in this case) and move to SpDef or HP where it is needed to make up for it. Mind you, Bullet Punch is a hereditary move, so you will need to breed a female (eww) with a Hitmonchan for a baby Machop with Bullet Punch. But priority moves are very invaluable, especially one that no one is immune to. As for Hydreigon, a Choiced Hydreigon wants U-turn, as it is functioning as a Scouter, and is very well capable of U-turning in and out akin to Flygon. Hardy nature isn't suiting it at all. You want to at least boost its power as Surf and Flamethrower is NOT gaining STAB and therefore may not plow through as you want it to. I'd raise its Special Attack and either lower its Defence or Special Defence through Mild or Rash since there is a scarf attached. Yeah, you're not outpacing 100 scarfers, or even Haxorus + 1, but you can still provide a nasty check to some of the slower Pokemon out there.
