You know what's funny? I thought Staraptor was noob. Haxorus, Excadrill, Conkeldurr, Ferrothorn, etc all make Staraptor and Garchomp look like "experts only" monsters. The power creep is ridiculous. It's like Yu-gi-oh with their new monsters that are like 2XXX with 4 stars when back then even 16XX monsters were like 5 stars. I hate power creeps... I remember when everyone was freaking out about Rhyperior's 140 Attack. Man... now look at what happened.

Haxorus is very noob. He was designed for noobs in mind. Like he has the right moves, 147 attack, 97 speed, MOLD BREAKER of all abilities... like what the heck. And he's just a "minor dragon"! Is that even fair?

Hmm maybe that Haxorus had Rivalry and your Alomomola was female? Idk. Or Alomomola is actually bulkier than Lugia? I have no idea. It's Outrage I'm talking about btw.

Yeah, I thought you'd forget about him, but I have most Pokemon in my mind. Floatzel's movepool isn't that great, but he has enough to work with. Waterfall, Aqua Tail, Ice Punch, Crunch, Pursuit, Low Kick, Return, Surf, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, even Taunt or Torment... or Bulk Up and Baton Pass. He's just perfect.

The Haxorus thing was an exaggeration, but not by much in fact. Most of OU can be OHKOd by Haxorus as well... but most of old generation's OU became UU. It's disgusting; you see perfectly capable stuff like Swampert or Azelf down in UU now and they made tiers like RU and stuff? I have no idea how it's even working.

+ 2 Haxorus can OHKO Lugia. What the heck >_<

Floatzel is the one you're looking for. It's tied with Starmie as the fastest Water type out there. It also has Swift Swim which makes its speed overkill in the rain so with little investment you can run mixed with this guy fairly well, making him quite deadly. I used him alongside Kingdra and he's quite scary. He even learns Bulk Up if that's your taste, though he's just very fragile.

I think everything OHKOd by Haxorus dropped to UU.

Hm, not necessarily useless because Sandile's other STAB Dark attacks can still do a big number to the Emolgas. Elesa was just annoying I thought, but wasn't much trouble for me with my Servine, despite Aerial Ace hitting Servine super effectively and Double Team being really evil.

Meh Mandibuzz at least has a defined role and she can fit enough moves to go by... though it's always a struggle between Toxic/Taunt/Whirlwind/Roost/Brave Bird/etc... Samurott is Swords Dance... okay now what do I do? There's a price for using Hippowdon I suppose. Well, you can resort to changing its ability to the DW version. No SR though methinks. Actually, it wasn't released yet, so scratch that.

Hm. Samurott has the stats but its movepool is the problem. Or it's the 4 moveslot syndrome; it has the ability to do it all but it cannot fit it all... so that's where the problem is.

Eh Eelektross is an offensive Pokemon as one can already tell; just for experts. Samurott though is a weird one. It middles among the other waters and since there are already so many waters, it's hard to find what it should do. It has offensive stats and the moves to back it up with (on the physical side), but there's no way to fit all of them together. It has access to Encore like the other seal-like Pokemon too, but there is no room for that either. It's really difficult to find a role for it... it really is. Eelektross is just fortunate that there are no others like it.

I have a weird Eelektross with Thunder Wave/Roar/Dragon Tail/Volt Switch. It's absolutely pointless but still interesting.

Exploding ant? Yikes! Explosion sucks now though, so I wouldn't count on it. If Close Combat is given to Samurott, it'll be given to stuff like Conkeldurr and Emboar and stuff... <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

It's not about who wins against who one on one. The whole point is to find who does better in a role and what is more suitable for usage. Just because Umbreon beats Espeon one on one doesn't mean Umbreon is better than Espeon.

In Zodiac, the opposite in the circle is your enemy. My mom is the boar. My dad is the dragon, my brother is the dog. Funnily enough, dragon's adversary is the dog.

Heh I'll have to know if I play all this. Emboar's slow... but still faster than Empoleon (wth). Samurott is a great mixed attacker but his movepool isn't as great as it should be. In competitive battling, he's ironically countered by Empoleon, the very thing I used to think Samurott was made to "outclass" in terms of stats.

No Samurott isn't bad, he's just not remarkable. Serperior has a defined role, the other two Unova starters... not so much.

The three Fire/Fighters are comparable. Emboar with the other Unova starters are not, if we're talking competitively.

Nah Samurott is nothing remarkable. I wasn't hoping it was... but stupidly, it has 100/108 offenses but is better using its physical attacks. Its stats are distributed pretty well, that's for sure, but it just doesn't excel in anything well enough. I like the guy, but I don't think it has any expertise to claim.

Most people I've talked to say Samurott was okay in the beginning but started to rot in the end. I don't know why, but I have to try it out.

I don't know, you can't really compare Emboar to the other two starters in competitive aspect; they are completely different. Unless by other two you mean Blaziken and Infernape.

In game it can work with some skills, but not for people who like all out offense. That's for Emboar or Samurott. Emboar is too easy to use... just send it in and watch it rip stuff apart. ._.

Serperior's stats are lower than Meganium's actually... all except speed. It's hard to use and very limited but I was rather pleased that it fit with my playstyle...

Wouldn't Emboar be considered a bulky fire starter? Well, somewhat... but still quite bulky.

I don't know HOW Gamefreak let some starter get away with those kind of stats. But one on one arguments are invalid as anything can go. I didn't think "kids" would argue for Torterra though, I'm surprised. Take a good look at the level up moves of the three Sinnoh starters; tell me how "balanced" all turned out to be. Seriously >__<

I guess I picked Squirtle because I like waters in general. HGSS I picked Chikorita, and at this point I've tried every starters in different files with the exception of BW.

Yeah... I picked Snivy because Birdy picked Oshawott and Ray picked Tepig. And I like Serperior; it's designed for people with skills <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue.png" alt=":P" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm gonna try Tepig and Oshawott eventually... I'm surprised I didn't pick Oshawott though.

Cute ghosts like Shuppet?

To be honest, in gen I you could get away with any of the starters. None of them really sucked, but problem with Venusaur was everything in the near end with Psychic or Fire moves made it difficult to use. I always picked Blastoise.

Torterra is the best Sinnoh starter. It learns all the stuff you'd like which other Pokemon have to breed for, such as Leech Seed, Crunch, Leaf Storm, etc... and a natural level 32 Earthquake. Just pure amazing. Empoleon turned out to be the worst, but I always pick that one if I don't do Torterra. Infernape is too meh for me; doesn't learn a strong Fire move naturally until Flare Blitz (61) and being stuck with Flame Wheel blows.

As for who I picked... Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup... yeah I picked the waters, but I started experimenting with Grassers lately.

Yeah not on paper; do it via action.

I think I try to tie stuff culturally or whatnot and find an attachment to individual ones. I dislike the desert region but I like a lot of Ground Pokemon. Weird how that works.

Eh, I'm not entirely attached to Charizard either, but I still like it.

Do whatever you'd like, but you can also turn Sand into your advantage if your opponent hates it as well; just utilise it well.

I've always liked Waters and recently more oriented towards Grassers. But I like most Pokemon in general, regardless of typing.

Your usual as usual. For the last one... yeah that's difficult, but you have enough powerhouses. Either Hippowdon or Rhyperior will do good imo, but Hippo's sand might end up screwing you over.

I'm the same. I'm not the fire person, but I do like many of them such as Ninetales, Arcanine, Moltres, Flareon, etc... been using Heatmor a lot lately but he's nothing special, but just for fun.

Rhyperior's Solid Rock and overall scarily high defences will allow him to take physical hits like a champ, but still, you need a lot of support to get him working. Pairing him up with Hippowdon isn't a bad idea either, but both share similar weaknesses which can be a problem.

If you don't like Donphan that's understandable. And what's wrong with Fire pokemon? Arcanine can be tailored to be bulky to take most Steels not named Empoleon and has Flare Blitz or Fire Blast to take them out.

I was going to suggest Rhyperior, but he's weak to Steel attacks. He's not going down in a single hit, but still I'm not sure how reliable he would be.

Steels? What kind of steels are you afraid of? And you're not using Donphan because he's common? That's really not a good excuse if you like it or something. What about Camerupt? He resists Steels and can hit them with either Ground or Fire attacks; doesn't matter if it's Heatran or Skarmory.

Meh I'm not downplaying on Storm Throw, but it's only very useful when someone else is buffing up their defences and whatnot. Revenge works or possibly Drain Punch. But then again there's this other fighter that can do the same thing only better while holding two stones in his hands. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sleep.png" alt="-_-" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sleep@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yes it is 120, but I mean crit is just double the damage from a regular hit right? Like, I'm thinking in the terms of what it would have been * 2... * 4 because rarely do these 40 base power moves shave off 25% of someone's HP unless they're weak to it or whatnot.

Lack of resistance is AIDS. Spiritomb has that exact same problem as no weakness does not mean invincibility.
