Oh, now that I see, that data perfectly matches the Pidgey I mentioned..

    Now, as for the Scatterbug...

I'm not sure if it's the case, but looks like a possible preset first encounter for Santalune Forest. That, or it might have been meant to appear at Route 2 before being changed for the Pidgey.

Do you guys remember your first random encounter in Santalune Forest? I have yet to properly play XY, so I have nothing to say about it.

  2. Hm... I know some games do have that "anti-cheating" clock thing, but I don't remember that happening in Gen 4. I deliberately changed the date and time in HGSS in order to get all leaders' phone numbers for rematches at once, and IIRC nothing happened.

As for Gen 5, I don't really know. Never checked it. But it's not like there are that many clock-based events on both of these gens. It's not like there's some legendary you can catch only at a certan hour of the day, or day of the week. If anything, it may temporarily affect the berries growing in Gen 4.

Frankly I think Quick balls are a better gift for a starting adventure

Still, it's 200 Poké Balls what they're giving away, and if they keep the gift Balls from the captains in USUM, we've already got a fair amount and variery of them, I don't remember having to buy any Balls other than a few regular ones during the whole story.

but I guess some people prefer to catch Pokemon in Pokeballs.

I'm mostly like that, I tend to use regular Balls most of the time. But then, Beast Balls appeared and I liked them so much that most of my Gen 7-born Pokémon are kept on them.

  4. I don't really get it. What's the point of having money in-game if they're gonna give you a bunch of Poké Balls anyway?

We've already got Pokémon Refresh to heal status, and if you're too lazy for that, there's Poké Pelago to harvest berries to your heart's content. Lately, the only real use for money has been buying a bunch of repels to get through caves and water areas, and of course, player customization.

I wonder if this could infer that at one point Darkrai wasn't meant to be a mythical pokemon, rather a regular in-game legendary. Perhaps more likely though, it was still supposed to be a mythical, but flee from New Moon Island once you gain access to it, as it is Cresselia's counterpart.

It's always seemed so strange for Darkrai to be a mythical Pokémon while its counterpart is just a regular ol' legendary. Maybe it's just me, but it feels so uncanny.

Aren't those Pokemon randomly generated each time? Or is there actually a list of Pokemon that are possible to rent?

Partially. While things such as PID, gender, ability, and sometimes IVs* are randomly generated, all of these Pokémon have a preset nature, moveset, items, and most times IVs*.

*IVs are a particular case, since, as far as I remember, non-Super Battle Subway and Maison use Pokémon with randomly generated IVs, whereas "Super" modes have all set to 31.

Adding to what wrathsoffire76 said, Smogon keeps a full list of these preset characteristics (be it for rent Pokémon or for NPC ones), not only for Battle Factory but for every battle facility. Serebii and Bulbapedia have these lists as well, and while the latter ones are easier to navigate, Smogon is usually a bit more technical.

What do you mean by the capture details?

Gen 3 met place and level I guess. As I said, PKHeX is probably taking them as hatched Pokémon, hence they can't have any Ball other than the regular one.

Of course, if it's true that they weren't modified at all, this might be an error with PKHeX itself.

  7. Posted this as a status update last night. Had a hard time believing it at first but since I found about it on Serebii...

Still, makes me feel somewhat uneasy. The art style doesn't suit neither of them, specially Misty, she looks way too different to.. well, herself. Besides, both of them seem to have their original outfits which is somewhat strange at this point. I know this might not be canon, but still doesn't feel right to me..

(I don't know how to resize videos in posts, sorry...)

I made this discovery about 20 minutes ago. I've attached a pk4 file for those who are interested.

    491 - DARKRAI - BBA3E3989ABF.pk4

It somehow bothers me to see how you deliberarely fled that shiny Starly ._. I mean, considering the other wild Pokémon weren't shiny I'm assuming it's most likely legal.

    Amazing discovery, nonetheless.

I can't test that now, sorry. But I doubt that it will be considered legal. Seeing how the developers forgot to update the level for the roaming Darkrai, I don't think they bothered to add in any legality checks.

I don't think it's gonna be considered legal, though. I mean, it could still go as far as 5th gen, but I dobut Poké Bank would let it go beyond that point.

  9. So it's not the same Rockruff. While the one from the catching tutorial seems to have random IVs, this one's got all set to zero. Unless there was some pretty unlucky RNG thing zeroing everything, but what are the chances of that happening?

I wonder if the natures (naughty and rash) were randomly picked or are preset as well.

How far would I have to play through the game until the tutorial?

That tutorial is after completing the first trial, not that far from where you're right now, I guess it'd take you half an hour or so to get there.

Apparently the flag is set when legitimately receiving it, and PKHeX was updated to enable that.
make sure you're on the latest PKHeX

Well, it worked just fine for me when injecting it with an old PKHeX version, a long time ago, so I wasn't aware of this.

and you played through the story legitimately.

And since he said he beat the Delta Episode already, I assumed he legitimately played the whole story. I mean, I don't think anyone would expect events to properly happen when skipping parts of the story..right?

I also used a WC6 file as same region as my game but cannot start the island event when I talked to dad

    Did you check the flags?

And, you used a different region WC6 first, right? If that's the case, delete it from the "received" list, and remove the item itself from your bag as well; then, try using the same region WC6 again, that should give you a valid Eon Ticket to use.

If that doesn't work, hmm... you're not injecting the item directly in your bag, right? you're supposed to inject the WC6 in your mystery gift list and receive it from the delivery girl in a Pokémon Center.

  13. You sure the event has never been done in the save file? Is it of your own, or did it belong to someone else?

If anything, these event flags should be unchecked, depending on which version you're playing:

Though I'm not sure if it'd change anything, have you tried using a WC that's the same region as your game?

  14. Uh, I think I might sound a bit too cold most of the time? People usually believes that due to my constant ellipses.

While I don't directly use emojis, I try to use "xD" ":c" ":x", "._.", ".-." or exclamation marks to show some emotions. It's not like I'm some robot thing or whatever, I just feel the need to maintain certain seriousness when I'm not among my close friends.
