So as I was doing some save research on it yesterday, I just picked up my N3DSXL today about an hour ago and found it got damaged with the left screw stuck-in and the plate's edge broken.
So a note to self and anyone with the N3DS/XL repeatedly removing their microSD for such scenarios: leave your back plate unscrewed the whole time!
